YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve and Isaac have no idea how long they've been unconscious when they hear a rather down-to-earth voice break into their slumber:: Come on, you kids, wake up. I can't say I'm not disappointed with the place, and after I gave fifteen dollars for the church steeple--at Christmas-time, too! But it's not hell, and it's a far sight better than the Darwinists would have us believe. So come on; wake up!
Quantum Catz: IS: ::groans Maeve's name as he hears the voice and then he slowly opens his eyes::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stirs in response to Isaac's voice, softly answering him back, then opens her eyes::
YarnKittymon: : ::the area around is all gray, and it looks like it's raining, though Isaac doesn't feel it--or much of anything at all, really. Rick, a young father from town, is looking down at Isaac anxiously:: Hey, welcome to the world of the living, kid--or I guess the world of the dead. ::looks back at Maeve:: You too.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::blinks at Rick in surprise and then turns to look at Maeve, to make sure she's okay:: What d'you mean 'dead'?
YarnKittymon: RI: Well, our bodies are made of stone so I guess we're dead. This isn't how I'd imagined heaven, but here we are.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::Coming fully awake, she abruptly pulls herself into a sitting position. She glances quickly at Isaac before staring blankly at the other guy. After a few seconds she ventures a look around her::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::stares ahead, not quite belieivng what Rick's saying:: But...I can't be...
YarnKittymon: : ::there's not really any scenery to be seen, just vague cloudy gray shapes in the background. Isaac and Rick look gray, too, to Maeve's eyes, and every time they try to move, it's slow, like they're heavy::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: If I remembered what it was like after I died those other times I could tell you for sure if we were or not.
YarnKittymon: RI: ::quietly, looking down:: I know it's rough, but I guess our families will take care of everything. Libby and Becky'll watch your siblings, Isaac, I'm sure of it.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks down at his hands:: They've already lost so much though
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sadly, she reaches for one of his hands::
YarnKittymon: : ::their hands feel rather cold to each other::
YarnKittymon: RI: ::tries to smile:: Buck up. Could be we can look down at 'em or something. Maybe we're just stuck in a rain cloud, though I feel heavy enough I think I'd fall right through if we were.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles weakly at Maeve, though he feels somehow like he's let his siblings down::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she just watches Isaac sadly::
YarnKittymon: RI: Come on, you two; stand up if you can. I'd like to take a look around, if we're gonna be spending eternity here, but I don't want to get separated.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly:: I guess...we should... ::glances at maeve one more time and then slowly stands up::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles weakly and rises to her feet as well.::
YarnKittymon: RI: ::trying to sound more cheerful, as he slowly makes his way in whatever direction caught his fancy:: I didn't see anyone else around here, so could be that monster didn't catch anyone else.
Maeve Owens: MV: If this is Heaven then shouldn't everyone who has died be here?
Quantum Catz: IS: Maybe you don't get Heaven if you're turned to stone and don't really die
YarnKittymon: RI: ::his eyes widen, and he curses under his breath:: That can't be right. Maybe we're just a bit farther from the Pearly Gates than someone who gets buried or whatever. We'll find our way to our loved ones yet, don't you
YarnKittymon: worry. ::keeps walking, though slowly::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks down, wishing he hadn't said anything:
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks rather depressed since she figures she's cursed to be seperated from her family for eternity. Even in death she doesn't get to see them although she keeps looking anyway::
YarnKittymon: : ::they see a lone figure in the distance; it looks rather white, though in the gray haze of their surroundings it's hard to tell who he or she is::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stops walking to stare at the white figure::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::follows Maeve's gaze and hesitates::
YarnKittymon: RI: ::calls out to the figure:: Hey! We just got here! What's your name?
YarnKittymon: : ::the figure doesn't even move, and as they draw nearer, Isaac and Maeve find it looks rather familiar--quite a bit like the lead monster around Saxton, though he's hard to recognize without his flesh falling off his bones::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns, not being completely sure and just looks all that more closely at the figure::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shakes his head, closing his eyes:: This can't be real
YarnKittymon: RI: ::looks back at Isaac and Maeve; quietly:: What's the matter?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: He looks like the lead monster in Saxton. ::she glances at Isaac quickly before moving even closer to the creature, looking rather irritated to find him there::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly, thinking of Josh:: He certainly doesn't deserve heaven anyway
YarnKittymon: RI: ::his expression sobers greatly; quietly:: Well, if that's the case, I guess hardly anyone makes it into heaven...and could be hell's not as bad as we all thought.
YarnKittymon: : ::the monster looks at Isaac and Maeve, still not moving or speaking::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looking back at the monster:: Well? What is this place and why are we the only ones here.
YarnKittymon: : ::the monster very suddenly springs forward at Maeve, grinning:: Another place for your energy to be drained for the good of your master, of course.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's a bit surprised and belatedly tries to back up::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::moves forward, trying to block the monster from reaching Maeve::
YarnKittymon: : ::the monster snarls at Isaac, but doesn't touch him or Maeve:: Are you going to fight me?
Quantum Catz: IS: Depends - you going to try and hurt someone again?
YarnKittymon: : ::almost primly:: I can't affect the land of the living anymore, no more than any of you can.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::winces, not responding to that::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she steps to the side a little to address the monster:: Where are we?
YarnKittymon: : ::the monster grins again:: Death. My home.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: *Your* home?
YarnKittymon: RI: Look, I don't care where we are--is there a way out of here or not?
YarnKittymon: : ::the monster shakes his head:: No. Sorry.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly:: You think we'd believe you anyway?
Maeve Owens: MV: Or maybe killing him is the answer. ::she steps completely away from Isaac to try and form a fireball and throw it at him since he looks a bit more human than last time::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve makes something resembling a fireball, but it glows blue and feels ice cold in her hands::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::surprised, she stares at the blue flames for a moment before she flings it at the monster::
YarnKittymon: : ::the flames touch the monster, but instead of catching it on fire, it just vanishes into nothing::
YarnKittymon: ((2nd "it" = "the monster"))
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:: Well, I still cant kill it but at least I can make it go away.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles weakly:: I guess so
YarnKittymon: : ::suddenly, the ground beneath their feet starts to shift; Isaac has vivid memories, and Maeve vague ones, of this motion being like that of a ship on the water::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::reaches for Maeve, worried the feeling might upset her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grabs onto him, more afraid of falling then anything else. Although she really doesn't care for the sensation::
YarnKittymon: : ::as suddenly as the monster had vanished, another figure comes into sight--this one as gray as Maeve, Isaac, and Rick, and vaguely familiar even to Maeve--he looks a lot like Eli, only older and more muscular, and he's poised as if he's looking over the edge of something like the deck of a ship, standing watch::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::stares at the man, looking pale::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she gasps in recognition and she clamps a hand over her mouth, not recognizing him as looking like Eli but someone else entirely::
YarnKittymon: RI: ::just looks puzzled, not sure what this means::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man is far too focused on his work to notice the silent people standing behind him; his legs move in perfect time with the deck, and he's completely focused on the task::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::takes a step forward:: Dad...?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::and then she just about chokes, staring at Isaac with wide eyes::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man looks back, and his face briefly lights up in pure joy as he lays eyes on Isaac before he stops to think about who he's looking at:: Isaac, is that you? You're all grown; I haven't been gone that long, have I?
Quantum Catz: IS: I... ::rubs an eye with his hand for a moment:: Yeah, Dad...it has been a while...
YarnKittymon: : ::the man shakes his head slowly:: I lose track of time out on the water. Joana's gonna kill me. ::holds out his arms for his son:: Well, come on; give your dad a hug, will you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::cant help but to think that it really isn't fair that everyone around her is getting family reunions except her but she hides it pretty well as she stares in shock at Isaac's dad.::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::moves forward to hug the man, still not really believing what he's seeing::
YarnKittymon: : ::both parties have cold skin, so the hug feels odd, but it's definitely a loving embrace:: How'd you stow away on the boat, and your friends too? I'm sure Kirkland checked below decks.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly:: You're not...we didn't stow away...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she doesn't want to interrupt so she stays silent, even though she does shiver at the thought of hiding below deck. She has to take a deep breath to calm her nerves::
YarnKittymon: : ::releases his son, looking a bit confused:: Then how'd you make it here?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::glances at Maeve, not really sure what to say, and then turns back to his father:: This isn't the boat, Dad...the boat...you were lost out at sea...and that was years ago
YarnKittymon: : ::looks at his son blankly for several moments, and then suddenly turns his attention back to the "sea" again:: Kirk! Anyone! Get me the harpoon! I see it!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks on with a rather worried expression::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::hesitates and then moves forward to see what his father's looking at::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac vaguely thinks he sees something move in the gray mists in the distance, though he can't tell what it is, or even if it exists::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she hesitates as well and after a moment she follows them::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks frustrated, and after a moment takes several steps backwards and grabs at the air; it becomes a harpoon in his hands, and he leans over the edge of the deck, his eyes intently following his prey::
YarnKittymon: : ::suddenly, a huge green sea-serpent, thicker than a person, and its gaping mouth at least four feet in diameter, rears up, appearing to splash water onto Maeve, Isaac, and Isaac's father, though none of them actually feel the moisture::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::backs up, staring at the creature in surprise::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she flinches back at the apparent water but looks confused when nothing really hits her. The sudden appearance of the sea serpant not only surprises her but now she's even more worried about what they might be witnessing::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father doesn't shy back, and instead stands on the edge of the boat (which suddenly appears as he steps up to it) and thrusts the harpoon straight into the creature's neck; it bellows in pain as green blood gushes from the wound::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father pulls the harpoon back so that the blood can flow more freely, but the creature snarls and grabs the man's right arm, nearly ripping it off, though there's not even gray blood to be seen on the man--the monster pulls back and its lips move, though the voice can't be its own--still, they hear "Your family is mine" before it sinks down again::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::stares at his father:: What did that thing mean?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looks shocked but remains silent::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks down blankly at the ground, his right sleeve mangled, and just murmurs:: Let them protect themselves.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::frowns at his father:: From what?
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks back up at his son, tiredly:: The wickedness that's going to come for you. Is the rest of the family all right?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces, looking away::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks worried:: What wickedness?
YarnKittymon: : ::shakes his head:: Sea monsters, I guess. These voices haven't left me alone, hardly, since I came back from the War. Keep saying they'll take everyone from me.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen:: Why? Who does the voices belong to?
YarnKittymon: : I told you, sea monsters, most likely. I don't know how or why, if they're ghosts of that boy I killed or what. ::stops, frowning at Isaac like he wished he hadn't said that at all::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces but she has to know; quietly:: What boy? During the war?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::stares at his father, not sure he wants to know::
YarnKittymon: : ::looks down; quietly:: German boy; couldn't have been more than sixteen. But he had a rifle and he was firing at us. I still see the look in his eyes sometimes.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: Us? What happened after that...
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly, looking down:: Does it matter now? Whatever happened...it was a long time ago
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shakes her head, glancing away:: I'm sorry Isaac, nevermind. ::she starts to turn away to leave them alone for a while.::
YarnKittymon: : ::looks back at Isaac:: I don't know why it is, but if I brought harm to any of you, I'll never forgive myself, you know that?
YarnKittymon: RI: ::looks at Maeve; softly:: You're not seasick yet, are you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen and she shakes her head:: I hadn't gotten seasick... why?
YarnKittymon: RI: ::smiles:: We're as much as on a ghost ship, aren't we?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::sighs and looks down:: It's probably all over now...apart from what happened to me and Maeve, i guess
Maeve Owens: MV: ::groans:: Don't remind me please. ::she looks out to where the sea should be and shivers::
YarnKittymon: : ::looks at Isaac with wide eyes, as though it suddenly hits him:: Where *are* we?
YarnKittymon: RI: ::quietly:: Could be we're not dead, none of us. Could even be that Isaac's dad's just stone somewhere.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sadly:: Who knows but I'm ready to wake up now.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks over at Rick, wearily:: Dad was lost at sea...i don't think he'd run into one of those monsters out there...unless sea serpents can do it to...
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father shakes his head; softly:: So I'm dead, aren't I? But you three aren't. You can't be.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shrugs:: We're here with you, aren't we?
YarnKittymon: : ::shakes his head again, though he can't think of an argument for that; finally, looks back at Maeve:: Your name's Maeve? I don't suppose you're any relation to David Owens?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances back with rather sad eyes and nods her head; quietly:: We even know Mr. Williamson's daughter Libby. ::she sighs and looks away::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::turns to frown at Maeve:: What are you talking about?
Maeve Owens: MV: When Libby got married she brought along a picture of her father in uniform. There were two other men in that photo. One was my father. ::she looks up at Isaac's dad:: I didn't know until now who the third one was...
YarnKittymon: : ::smiles weakly:: That café. I thought he was mad to have a photo taken, but I guess not. How'd those two lads come through?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks as though he can't really believe what either of them are saying::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances away again:: The war? Mr. Williamson didn't make it out...
YarnKittymon: : ::nods, not looking all that surprised:: And David?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: He made it out of the war.
YarnKittymon: : ::soberly, looking at Maeve:: That's something, at least.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods:: Yeah, I guess its something at least.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Its really funny how all three of our dads knew each other in the war... ::she glances back up to look at Isaac's dad::
YarnKittymon: : ::after a moment:: We didn't spend that much time together; we just had leave at the same time. Weren't in the same units or anything. ::chuckles:: Though this crazy lady was after the three of us something fierce.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: Crazy lady?
YarnKittymon: : She said she was a gypsy, yelled at the three of us. I never quite understood why.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::hesitantly:: She wasn't yelling about taking your family away from you... was she?
Quantum Catz: IS: Why would she do that?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: She's a gypsy. They tend to curse people.
YarnKittymon: : Who knows what she was saying? She had this weird accent, almost Irish. ::frowns, remembering some of the words he did catch::
Maeve Owens: MV: Did my father understand what she was saying?
YarnKittymon: : He seemed upset, but I figured he was just superstitious. Though I guess maybe there's something to it, if these monsters were after me too.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, looking away again::

YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father suddenly looks back at his three visitors; quietly:: There *has* to be a way out of this. None of you should be here. And I'll move heaven and earth to find it for you. ::looks around, as though the answer
YarnKittymon: will magically come to him::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::would love to get back to his siblings, but he's not sure that there is a way::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::stands there looking depressed.::
YarnKittymon: RI: ::looks around, too, suddenly pausing when he sees a fully white figure coming towards them from far away:: That's not that monster of yours, is it, Maeve?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she follows his gaze, and when she sees the white figure she smirks:: That be him. And theres a small chance that he might be the reason we're stuck here.
YarnKittymon: : ::the figure comes closer, and it looks different from the first monster they met--quite a bit like the one who asked Isaac to kill her, actually::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father gazes at the figure in recognition:: Mikie?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks a bit pale when he sees her, remembering what he had to do::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::stands their silently watching the people around her and the approaching good monster::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala looks around at all of them, shaking her head sadly:: None of you should be here. Not a one of you.
Maeve Owens: MV: Why is that?
YarnKittymon: : ::the woman shakes her head:: Just because I sold my soul doesn't mean I want any company.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: Isaac's dad sold his soul too? ::she thinks about it for a minute:: Or was he included in that "none of you should be here"?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala shakes her head:: I don't want to see any of you here. ::softly:: And maybe he has it coming. ::glances at Isaac's father:: But I'd trade anything to get you back where you belong. ::softly:: Look at your skin. I
YarnKittymon: belong here; you don't.
Quantum Catz: IS: Our skin? ::looks down at his arms::
YarnKittymon: : ::while Mikala is rather white, the others' skin is all gray--and their clothes and hair, for that matter::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Then how do we get home?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala looks down; softly:: I think there's a way out...but...if your father was really lost at sea, Isaac...I don't know that it would bring him back to life.
Quantum Catz: IS: Then...how did he end up here?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala looks down; softly:: From what I understand, anyone who's not buried properly...if the monsters killed them, they can still drain them.
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father softly says:: So a burial at sea doesn't count, huh?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks at his father:: A monster killed you...?
YarnKittymon: : ::looks at his son; quietly:: I guess it could've been. There was a storm, and I was blown overboard...I guess you probably knew that, if anyone made it out alive. I thought I'd been sucked down by a whirlpool, but that's not what it felt like. And then I was here.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her expression serious:: I told you the ocean was evil.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles weakly at Maeve:: I guess some of the things in the ocean, anyway
Maeve Owens: MV: Name one thing that isnt then? And seafood doesn't count because I'm alergic to it.
Quantum Catz: IS: Well i don't think most of the sea life out there is any more evil than your average bird or squirrel
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father smiles slightly:: And there's monsters on land too, aren't there?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles, thinking of his time on the boat:: And you can't beat the feeling of cutting through the waves, salt air all around you and the boat rocking beneath your feet...even if there are monsters beneath you
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters under her breath:: Or on board with you. ::she shakes her head:: Can we go back to figuring out how to get out of here?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala nods, softly saying:: There's a dark force in charge here, but if you sneak past it, you should be able to get back to...wherever you are. If it's been too long and your bodies have started to rot, I don't think you'll be able to come back to life again.
Quantum Catz: IS: Well we're made of stone right now so that isn't really a problem
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: What if we suffocate?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala shakes her head:: It won't be a problem...although I guess you won't come back for good unless someone can change you from stone to flesh.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she thinks about Toby and the pain that it would involve if he was able to do it, and she winces::
YarnKittymon: RI: If there's a way for it to be done, our people back home will figure it out. And if not, I'm still up to trying anything at all so we can do our part, for when they finally figure out how to save us.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::nods:: I'm sure they'll figure something out
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles weakly::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala nods:: All right. I can show you where to go, but once we're there, I can't follow. Suppose I'll be here 'til God casts me into hell.
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks rather alarmed:: Mikie, don't talk like that!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: He knows why you did what you did. I'm sure he hasn't condemned you.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks at the woman sadly:: I'm sorry
YarnKittymon: RI: ::frowns:: Are you here because you're a monster, or were you just not buried?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala shrugs, walking a little faster:: Both, I suppose.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns, thinking it not fair but she doesn't say anything, just picks up her pace::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father softly asks:: Do you know where it happened, Mikie? Maybe Isaac could bury you. I'm sure you were kind to him and his siblings back while you were alive.
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala cringes; softly:: As kind as I could be.
Quantum Catz: ((what did isaac and maeve do with her bones? did they do anything?))
Maeve Owens: ((didnt they turn to ash?))
Quantum Catz: ((i think the bones were left...))
Maeve Owens: ((they didnt bury the bones??? how cruel of them...))
Quantum Catz: ((from what i remember - they wandered off and left them...))
Quantum Catz: ((tho i guess they could've gone back))
Maeve Owens: ((i think they went and had desert or something... or they saw that movie... lol))
YarnKittymon: ((They got left last I heard. I was gonna have Daniel and Sara stumble across them and figure they were toys but that never happened either))
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly:: I know where her bones are...i'll bury them...if we get out of here anyway
Maeve Owens: ((dang that was cruel of them))
YarnKittymon: ((Either it was a good movie and they forgot, or it was that awful movie and they were so upset they forgot? ;) ))
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala softly says:: Thank you, but I don't deserve it.
Maeve Owens: ((it just seems like that should have been top priority))
YarnKittymon: ((But no one did or even posted an intention to so I can't be held responsible ;) ))
Quantum Catz: ((isaac was extremely upset at the time over killing her :P))
Maeve Owens: ((i know and i dont know what i was thinking at the time but it is cold ;D))
Maeve Owens: ((maeve has no excuse other than the fact that she was upset the woman had to die ))
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looks rather guilty about not thinking to bury her and she glances away::
Quantum Catz: IS: I...would've done it before...but i guess i just didn't want to have to think about it again...
YarnKittymon: ((Well, it probably made like weathered bones, nothing with flesh on them, so maybe they didn't think about it))
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala shakes her head:: If you're right, and you *had,* I wouldn't be here to help you now. I would've...would've done anything for you kids, you know that? I let that monster make me one of his servants, just to save you and your mother.
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father nods; softly:: You loved Joana every bit as much as I did. ::pauses, looking back at Isaac:: How is she now?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala turns away, shuddering::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::sighs, looking down:: Mum's gone too - i guess she was the lucky one if she isn't here
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sadly, she reaches for his hand again::
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks back at them all, almost panicked:: How do you know she's not here? If she is, we can't just leave without her!
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala shakes her head; quietly:: She was buried, and she never gave in to the monsters. She's safe in heaven now. ::sighs slightly::
YarnKittymon: : ::they walk on in silence, slowly, because their bodies still feel heavy, for what could have been hours or even days; they don't grow any more tired, and they have no way to tell what time it is::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks down at the ground as he walks::
YarnKittymon: : ::finally, they find themselves walking into an even darker area, though it's a pleasant respite from the solid gray they'd been in::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::remains quiet::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala looks back at everyone; softly:: Do you know how to fight?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::uncertainly:: I can usually get by.... why?
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala doesn't look encouraged by the response:: This darkness has a lord. I don't think he can be destroyed...not from here, anyway...but he'll have to be fought. I think I can draw him out, but you'll have to beat him to
YarnKittymon: escape.
Quantum Catz: IS: Don't suppose he'll be like the monsters in Saxton?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks away frowning, not too encouraged by Mikala's response either::
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: His true form is all of them rolled into one. Neck of a serpent, touch of a dead man, wings of a basilisk, body of a beast...and half-transparent, like a ghost. I'll do what I can, but I don't know how long I'll hold out. If he turns me again, you'll *have* to slay me, as best you can.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::sighs:: That sounds easy, then
Maeve Owens: MV: I don't suppose you know of anything that might injure him?
YarnKittymon: RI: ::only half-joking:: If the good Lord owes anyone any favors, now's the time to call 'em up.
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father comes forward, suddenly holding his fishing spear again:: If I get him square in the eye, it might work. You others stay back. It's no loss if I'm killed, but you're not dead yet.
Quantum Catz: IS: You can't fight it on your own
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mumbles:: This thing sounds huge.
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father smiles back at them:: So was the sea serpent, but I pretty much took care of that thing, didn't I? Trust your old man, Isaac, would you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles weakly, thinking that serpant was more like a vision from the past, but she thinks it better to keep her thoughts to herself::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks at his father for a moment; sighing:: I guess i just don't want to lose you again
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father looks back at his son and suddenly hugs him tight:: Unless you figure out a way to bring my body back, I'm already gone. Do you have any messages for your mother?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::tears spring to isaac's eyes for a moment and he blinks them back:: Just tell her we're all okay
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father smiles at his son, and murmurs:: If you tell them about this, tell them they were the dearest thing in the world to me.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she watches them sadly::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles:: I will
YarnKittymon: : ::Isaac's father nods; softly:: Take care of yourself, kid, and that lady of yours, too. ::he turns to face Mikala::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mikala clenches her fists and then walks forward into the darkness, disappearing into the black after about ten seconds::
YarnKittymon: : ::suddenly, Mikala screams, and then the darkness turns lighter. They can see the monster--just like Mikala described it, though not more than ten feet tall. Mikala is lying motionless before it. Isaac's father instantly leaps forward and tries to stab it in the chest, making contact, and the beast yells, snapping at Isaac's father::
