YarnKittymon: LB: ::wakes up rather suddenly at about 4 AM in bed in the hotel room, having a rather severe contraction; she slowly gets herself to a sitting position; softly, her voice shaking:: Jack?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::sleepily:: Yeah?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::reaches out, taking his arm; softly:: I think...it's time...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::blinks, suddenly looking more awake:: You sure?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods nervously:: I *think* so...we'll...see if I feel another while I'm getting dressed...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks a little lost, like he's not really sure what to do now::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::firmly:: The sooner we get to the hospital the better, Jack. ::slowly gets to her feet::
Quantum Catz: JK: Right ::gets out of bed to get dressed::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::cries out sharply as she's buttoning her shirt, grabbing hold of the dresser for about thirty seconds::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::moves over to support her:: You okay?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks just about ready to lose it; quietly:: I can't do this, Jack...
Quantum Catz: JK: 'Course you can. You're the strongest woman i know, n think what you get at the end of it all...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, though Jack can probably feel her trembling; without a word, she goes back to getting dressed::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::goes back to getting ready, though he stays near Libby in case she has another contraction::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: I think I can walk to the hospital...::picks up the bag she's packed::
Quantum Catz: JK: Are you sure?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods weakly:: A waste of money...::heads down the hallway towards the elevator, grabbing Jack for support::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::holds onto her tightly, looking a bit worried for her, though he doesn't say anything::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::they're not even a block away from the hotel when Libby grabs Jack hard, breathing through clenched teeth::
Quantum Catz: JK: Come on, we'll get a taxi - they get any closer and i'll be tryin' to carry you there
YarnKittymon: LB: ::just nods weakly as Jack hails a cab; the cab driver looks rather alarmed when he sees Libby:: You're gonna keep my seats clean, right?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::sharply:: Just get us to the hospital, alright?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man grumbles a few words and starts driving; it's only a couple minutes before they're there::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::needs Jack's help to get out of the cab; her water broke while she was inside and the cabby berates the both of them::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::gives the man some extra money for the ride:: Here. Good thing fer you i don't have the time t'get annoyed at you ::starts to lead Libby into the hospital::
YarnKittymon: : ::a nurse meets them right by the admissions desk, and puts an arm around Libby's shoulder, looking back at Jack:: The clerk will give you some paperwork, sir.
Quantum Catz: JK: Uh, okay ::looks at Libby:: You gonna be okay?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks at Jack, more terrified than he's probably seen her since she was in the arms of Seth; softly:: You'll telegram your mother when it's all over?
Quantum Catz: JK: Course i will ::hesitates:: 'N i'll be right here, if you need me ::tries to smile reassuringly at her, rather wishing it was Seth he was facing since he'd know what to do then::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse leads Libby off without another word to Jack, and the clerk clears his throat, motioning to the paperwork on the counter::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::is still rather distracted by Libby, though he eventually turns to the clerk::
YarnKittymon: : ::the clerk smiles at Jack:: First time?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::wryly:: It show?
YarnKittymon: : ::still smiling:: Try not to get too worked up; I've seen husbands come out worse than the wives here.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::Wryly:: Can understand why, i'm feelin' downright helpless right now ::starts filling in some of the paperwork just to distract himself::
YarnKittymon: : ::the clerk nods:: When you've finished, shall I have a nurse bring you a pillow and blanket? ::motions to the chairs in the waiting area::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks up at the clerk:: You think i look like i want t'sleep right now?
YarnKittymon: : ::the clerk frowns:: Best case, you have probably eight hours ahead of you.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::sighs:: Don't suppose this place has a bar, could do with a drink right about now
YarnKittymon: : ::smiles apologetically:: My shift's over in an hour and a half; we could sneak back to my place...I guess your wife wouldn't know. ::smirks::
Quantum Catz: JK: Nah, i'd rather be here
YarnKittymon: : ::the clerk nods:: Good man.
YarnKittymon: : ::Jack is pretty much left alone for the next several hours, though he can eventually hear some screams down the hall, and a few curses that very well could be Libby::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::starts pacing when he hears the noises, wishing that his shield could do something to help this time and wishing even more that Isaac was nearby just in case::
YarnKittymon: : ::finally, the noises die down, and half an hour later, a doctor comes out, looking at the few people in the waiting room, clearing his throat:: Mr. Richards?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::moves towards him:: Is she okay?
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor nods, a stern expression on his face:: She's resting, but your wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::just looks at the man for a minute, not really sure what to do; then smiles, rather relieved:: That's great
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor nods:: A nurse will come get you when your wife's ready for visitors.
Quantum Catz: JK: What about the baby? Can i see him?
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor frowns just slightly, but nods:: He's in with your wife; just take care not to wake her.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::nods:: Okay
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor motions to a nurse to show Jack to Libby's room::
YarnKittymon: : ::the room is rather small and dim; Libby is fast asleep in the bed, wearing a hospital gown, her mouth slightly open, her skin pale, and there's a bassinet in the corner::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks a bit worried when he sees Libby's pale face and tries to be as quiet as he can as he walks over to see the baby::
Maeve Owens: ::the baby opens it's little eyes when he sees Jack. One small fist flails in the air above him as if in greeting before he promptly goes back to sleep::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::has never held a baby before so doesn't even attempt to pick it up. He's suddenly finding it a rather nerve-wracking thought that he's actually a father now::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::groans softly as she stirs in her sleep; one of her arms comes up from beneath the sheet, exposing a welt mark around her wrist::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::turns when she groans, frowning when he sees the mark; he moves to sit on the chair beside the bed, gently reaching for her hand::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::instinctively takes Jack's hand, squeezing slightly, and her eyes slowly open; she squints; hoarsely:: Jack?
Quantum Catz: JK: Sorry, you're meant to be sleeping
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shakes her head, looking puzzled:: What happened? Is something wrong?
Quantum Catz: JK: Everything's fine...you need to rest though...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly, closing her eyes:: When's the baby coming?
Maeve Owens: ::as if on cue, the little guy starts to cry::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::frowns:: What d'you mean? The baby's right here
YarnKittymon: LB: ::weakly brings her other hand up--it has marks to match the other wrist--and touches her stomach, bewildered:: But I just came in, didn't I? Not an hour ago?
Quantum Catz: JK: It's been hours, Libby - i was waiting outside the whole time ::is rather wishing now that he'd been there with her though::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shakes her head, covering one of her ears:: Is that crying...is that our baby?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::glances over at the baby, not really wanting to move away from libby:: Yeah, it is - healthy boy, according to the doc
Quantum Catz: JK: ::Stands up to move over to him, though he's not really sure what to do::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles weakly; softly:: Let me see him. I don't suppose I named him and forgot that too?
Maeve Owens: ::his little face is scrunched up as he wails continuously::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks at Libby rather helplessly:: I've never gone near a baby before, never mind picked one up...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::blinks:: What about your sisters?
Quantum Catz: JK: Nicole was the only one i was really old enough for and i was workin' so much i hardly saw'er as a baby, n when dad died i was workin' even more
YarnKittymon: : ::just then, a nurse comes in; she has a black eye and looks rather upset; sternly, to Jack:: Look at all the trouble you've caused! ::pushes by him and picks the baby up gently::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::smiles weakly, though his mind's obviously gone elsewhere on thinking of his family:: Hey, it's only m'first day - I'm allowed to mess up once, ain't it?
Maeve Owens: ::the baby senses the nurse's frustration and doesnt stops crying::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse keeps her eyes on Jack as she walks over to Libby:: Well, I see where your wife gets it from. ::sets the baby, blanket and all, into Libby's arms:: Try feeding him; I'll show you how.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::blinks, coming back to the present:: Gets what from?
Maeve Owens: ((it had better be a bottle... ))
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse motions to her bruised eye once her hands are free, still focused on helping Libby:: She's calmed down now.
YarnKittymon: ((LOL, in the '20s, PROBABLY not, but I was figuring on not going into details :P ))
Quantum Catz: JK: ::can't help but laugh:: Good right hook you've got there, Libby
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks completely mortified:: I had no idea...I'm so sorry...
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse smiles weakly:: The twilight sleep sometimes does that...I'm just glad the baby's all right. Have a name for him?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: His name's Milo, after my father.
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse nods, smiling softly::
