~Sunday, July 9, 1933~

YarnKittymon: : ::just after church that day, the talk of the town is that the queen of the land of Yarnia herself is coming to visit Marquis for an afternoon next Sunday, officially on a diplomatic visit--but Harry, not having attended church, doesn't even know this, and he has much bigger things on his mind, as he slips around town, rather like he's up to no good::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's headed over to Libby's shop to relieve Kizzie for a while. As she makes her way to the shop, she shakes her head at all the silly towns people, and their built up excitement over the queen's visit. She honestly doesnt know what they are so excited for. It's not like any of them will get the chance to talk to her personally, and even so, she's likely not to care::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::when Harry catches sight of Maeve, he quickly crosses the street, just as unwilling to be spied by her as by his quarry::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she notices Harry's not so subtle crossing, and frowns. Her gaze swings back to the other side of the street, trying to discern what he could possibly be up to::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve spies in the crowd a figure that likely sends terrible memories washing over her--a poorly-dressed man with a few new scars, but the same cold eyes she remembers from almost ten years ago::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen as she slowly comes to a stop there in the street. Ever so subtly she starts moving again, spurred on by late night talks of revenge. Her pace picks up, and by the time she's just a few feet away from him, she's mad enough to let loose the fireball that's been building in her hand::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::sees Maeve and runs toward her, shaking his head, and when he's close enough, he dares to grab her arm, just trying to avoid the fireball, but more worried about letting the man be than keeping from getting himself burned::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she lets out a quiet yelp, turning abruptly to burn her attacker, but her arm freezes in mid air when she sees it's only Harry. She smirks at him, her voice dropping to a harsh whisper:: Were you planning on telling me our *friend* was in town?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::so quickly Maeve may be able to tell he's not exactly telling the truth:: There wasn't time. ::pulls Maeve back, watching anxiously to make sure their "friend" doesn't hear them:: Sshh...
YarnKittymon: : ::the man keeps walking, like his mind is elsewhere::
Maeve Owens: MV: Uhuh. Something tells me I shouldn't believe you.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quickly:: Well, *you're* the one who always tried to convince me just getting rid of him was a mistake!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: A *few* *minor* burns never killed anyone.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::whispers:: Let's split up, and we can stay farther back. Try to find out where he's staying.
Maeve Owens: MV: And once we do? Do you have a plan?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: I always have a plan. ::starts walking quickly, keeping his eyes on the man, who's nearly melted away into the crowd::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks, then reluctantly nods her head in agreement before wandering off to tail their "friend"::
YarnKittymon: : ::Harry loses track of the man, but Maeve sees him slip into a small house near the edge of town::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she ducks out of site in order to keep an eye on the place, just to make sure this was indeed where the man is staying::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man doesn't come out of the place, and Harry finally catches up with Maeve, following her gaze::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes still on the house; quietly:: He came directly here and hasn't moved.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods; softly:: Who knows how long he'll be staying...we'd best get to work as soon as we can get him alone.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:; Please tell me you have something more creative than beating him to a pulp.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: Haven't decided yet, but one thing's for sure...we have to make *him* think he's going to be beaten, if not killed.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles:: Ah. Too bad we don't have a gang that's willing to hang him over something they think he did to them. ::smirks::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::grins, then whispers:: All we'd have to do is frame him.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grins; quietly:: The queens coming for a visit. She's gotta have some valuables on her. Think of what she'd have done to him if he were found with those missing items.. ::laughs;:
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns:: Who knows where he'll be in a week, though...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::frowns:: Then what can we frame him with?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: I guess we could frame him with jewels that *weren't* hers.
Maeve Owens: MV: Wait, maybe we should be asking ourselves what he's doing here? Is he working for someone? And if so... how upset will they be if he messes up this job?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::laughs suddenly:: You're thinking more like a town guard than me. That's a great idea, though...get our revenge *and* be heroes.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles a bit smugly before she gets serious again:: So you being the town guard, and an ex con, surely your privy to information. What's going on around here that he could want a shot at?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::very quietly:: Well, he *could* be here for the queen's jewels, after all, though he's early. And there's a cartload of gold due in on the tenth, but no one's been fool enough to try to rob one of *those* in over three years. Or he might just be aiming for one of the rich families in town. ::shrugs:: I haven't heard of any particular threats.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns;: We need into his room. There's gotta be something in there to give us a clue. I don't have time to be tailing him.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks; softly:: I don't see why we can't get him arrested, at least, except the real authorities will be much more gentle with him than we would.
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, we need a reason to even alert the authorities dont we? We may have to settle for that if he isn't working with anyone.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man suddenly comes out the front door, looking around suspiciously::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she presses herself closer to the wall, her eyes intent on their quarry::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::lets Maeve watch the man while he tries to look non-chalant; softly, his back turned to the man:: One of us should trail him and the other check the house, whether or not there's someone in there.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks; quietly:: Do we get to draw straws?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::gets out a coin:: Whoever gets this gets to choose the house or *him*. Call it in the air.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::grins; softly:: Heads. I definitely dont want tails.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::flips the coin, and catches it in the air, pressing it to the back of his hand; holds it out for Maeve, smirking; it's heads:: Lucky girl.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::chuckles:: This time don't lose him.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles at Maeve:: Okay; good luck, then. ::quickly slips off::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she waits by the wall until the man has moved off before she walks up to the door::
YarnKittymon: : ::the house is rather run-down, with its shutters closed and a hole bored in the door itself to serve as a peephole::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances around, then quietly knocks on the door::
YarnKittymon: : ::an unshaven, almost crazy-looking man answers the door, glaring at Maeve:: What do you want?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she jumps a little, looking rather suprised someone answered:: I'm sorry... I think I might have had the wrong house. ::she looks at him, frowns, then looks away, like she's trying to determine where she should have gone::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man glares at Maeve another couple seconds, then slams the door::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grumbles, annoyed at this sudden turn of events, and wandering what to do now::
YarnKittymon: : ::it's about ten minutes later when another dirty man, poorly-dressed, comes sneaking by; he approaches the house, but he stops when he sees Maeve, frowning:: Can I help you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles nervously:: Actually I was hoping you could help me... ::gives him a meaning look, hoping he'd spill something::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man smiles in a friendly manner:: Help you with what, comrade?
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, I heard there might have been something of *interest*? Going on around here...
YarnKittymon: : ::the man looks Maeve up and down, and then shakes his head:: Not for you, I'm afraid. ::turns to leave her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::hurries to get in front of him:: Hey, don't judge a book by it's cover.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man shakes his head:: You're dressed far too nice to be one of us, lady. Step aside, all right?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she laughs:: Well, at least I'm not obvious. You're get up screams "con man".
YarnKittymon: : ::the man's expression suddenly turns from annoyed to fierce:: If you think equality and fairness for all is a con, then you deserve what you get!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen:: In what context? Because I like nothing more than seeing those lucky people with silver spoons in their mouths take a fall.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man frowns, still looking rather suspicious:: Go on.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she bites her lip, then quietly:: I hear the queen is coming... no one has a mark on her do they? Surely she has enough fortunes to feed a small country?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man frowns more deeply, though Maeve probably knows the look of one who's testing someone:: Who would suggest such a thing?
Maeve Owens: ((thats a good question and if i was a thief i might have the answer :P ))
YarnKittymon: ((LOL; I was basically saying that Maeve might be able to tell that the man is actually interested in her off-handed suggestion, but putting up a front of being offended, to test whether or not she's serious))
Maeve Owens: MV: ::shrugs:: Someone who is looking to put a certain someone in their place.
Maeve Owens: ((was she even meant to be speaking with these people??))
YarnKittymon: : ::the man nods slowly, and leans closer to Maeve:: You might want to meet my friends, then.
YarnKittymon: ((I hadn't intended for those people to be there in the first place, but whatever; I just have to show her what's going on :) ))
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles; then sounding a bit hopeful:: Oh? What do your friends have planned? Is there really room for one more?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man starts back towards the house:: they'll have to see if you're true or not...if you're really interested.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she licks her lips, starting to feel a bit nervous, but she plasters a self-assured smile on her face as she follows him to the door:: That's fine. I suppose.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man looks back at Maeve with a smile:: What should we call you?
Maeve Owens: MV: Um, you can call me... Marina. ::smiles sweetly::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man nods; in a quiet voice:: Call me Sacco if you like. ::knocks on the door, and the man inside frowns to see Maeve again; motions to her:: I told you to leave, didn't I?
YarnKittymon: : ::"Sacco" replies:: She's a friend, Vanzi, or at least, she might be.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs; calmly:: I guess I should have known it was the right place, but hey, if I was wrong it wouldn't have been good.
YarnKittymon: : ::"Vanzi" looks at Maeve suspiciously, though he steps back to let her in:: What are you here for, then?
Maeve Owens: MV: You tell me. There's gotta be someone in this town worth taking a hit? Or perhaps someone visiting... ::she shrugs again::
YarnKittymon: : ::"Vanzi" leans closer to Maeve:: *Why*?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks, not giving an inch:: Why else? They've got stuff to spare.
YarnKittymon: : ::"Vanzi" lifts his eyes, shaking his head:: She's hopeless, Sacco. I can't believe you even brought her here.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: Why am I hopeless?
YarnKittymon: : ::"Sacco" shakes his head apologetically:: I don't think you belong here, Marina, if you don't even know about our cause.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Well tell me about your *cause* so that I might share my opinion of it. You said something about fairness and equality right? You take something from lets say... the queen... and you hand it over to another cause?
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco shakes his head:: I really don't see how you could be interested, Marina.
YarnKittymon: : ::a young woman comes into the house without knocking; her clothes are just as ragged as the others', but there's fire in her eyes, and she looks likeable enough; she slips past Maeve and kisses "Vanzi" on the forehead before turning her attention to Maeve, too::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she lets her gaze slide to the other woman for a moment, her expression blank, before she looks back at Sacco:: Tell me why you think I couldn't be... then maybe I can tell you if you're wrong or not.
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco speaks very carefully:: What do you think about socialism?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she takes a minute to think about it, but she eventually nods; quietly:: Fairness and equality for all.
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl looks at Maeve curiously:: Would you call yourself a socialist, then?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: I haven't really labled myself as anyhing. I just try to follow my instincts.
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi shakes his head several times:: No, no, no! ::looks at Sacco like the man's mad:: Someone like her has no place with us! She's like Rockefeller handing out dollars to the populace to appeace them!
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl frowns at Maeve:: There's no sense in only going halfway, you know.
Maeve Owens: MV: Then what does "all the way" entail?
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi glares:: You're a spy, aren't you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she laughs:: A spy? For *who*?
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi half-growls:: The guards? The queen? The mayor? They're all the same.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she hesitates, then rather bitterly:: Of course they are. They all have power.
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco smiles:: Someday the people are going to take it back.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles:: And you're going to make it happen? Now why would anyone not want to be a part of that?
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi frowns:: Now, hold on. How can you help us?
Maeve Owens:
MV: ::still smiling, she shrugs:: Well, I don't know... what are you missing?

YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco levels his gaze at Maeve:: A horse, for one thing.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:: Come on, surely there's more...interesting... aspects that you need help in?
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi shakes his head:: Bring us the horse and we'll talk.
Maeve Owens: MV: But you haven't even told me of your plans? I think I'd rather hear what I'm getting into before I bring you a *horse*!
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi edges closer to Maeve, and in a very low voice says:: If we see you so much as *think* about talking to a guard, you're dead, you hear me?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her voice just as low:: I make it a point to stay *very* far away from the other side of the law. ::grins::
YarnKittymon: : ::while Vanzi still looks suspicious, Sacco nods:: Haven't you guessed what we're doing by now?
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, I know that you want to take out those in power but I don't think I can read minds well enough to know your *exact* plans on how to do that.
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco smirks:: With a bang.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen:: Well, that's one way to ensure they don't make a come back...
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco nods:: But we need a horse to make an interception, or else some innocents might get hurt too.
Maeve Owens: MV: I see. ::she frowns:: What are the others doing? I don't mean to sound ungrateful but getting a horse is rather dull and a bit easy.
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl smirks:: Bring us a horse and maybe we'll tell you.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances at the woman, but completely ignores her. Instead she smiles at Sacco, her eyebrows lifting in silent interest, hoping he'll spill it anyway::
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco just shakes his head:: She's right, Marina...we'd still like some proof of your good faith.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sighs dramatically:: Fine. I'll see what I can do. How soon do you need it?
YarnKittymon: : ::Sacco frowns:: Tonight, if you can...we need to get the beast accustomed to us.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods:: Until tonight then. ::she turns around, and with a small wave, walks out the door::
YarnKittymon: : ::no one appears to be following Maeve as she leaves::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she takes the long way home just to make sure. She doesn't seek Harry out either, instead going straight to her house, thinking he'll eventually show up there.::
YarnKittymon: : ::it's about an hour later when Harry does come to Maeve's house, just trying the door without knocking::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::it's open since she'd been expecting him, and she's waiting on the couch wearing a rather thoughtful expression:: I *think* I might have gotten myself in a little too deep...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::swings the door closed, walking in:: Oh?
Maeve Owens: MV: I need a horse. Tonight. And if I'm so much as seen talking to a guard ::she stops to smirk at him:: They swear I'm as good as dead. But at least I know our guy is traveling with a group of anarchists. ::smirks::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks rather serious, and backs away a step:: Maeve! How many are there?
Maeve Owens: MV: I spoke to three of them today. So four counting our friend. I couldn't get anything concrete out of them since they want me to prove myself. ::she sighs:: I don't know what to do.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::groans softly:: You're gonna lay low and not let anyone in, and I'm going to go tell the other guards.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: But if we do then we let our chance for payback slip through our hands... where'd he end up at anyway?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::in a low voice:: His name's Lucas, or at least, that's what he's going by now. He went to the market and then back to that shack. ::shakes his head:: I want revenge, Maeve, but it's not worth getting you killed over it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces, then shakes her head:: If we're careful it wont come to that. I just need a horse. But I can't do that for obvious reasons, and neither can I buy one cause that'd look real suspicious.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: Wasn't that woman shacking up with Isaac desperate to get rid of hers?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looking way too ecstatic for someone no longer in this business, she sits up eagerly:: That's it! We'll steal hers! And then, while we're at it, we'll frame her too!
YarnKittymon: HR: Hold it, hold it; why would we frame *her*? She was kind of cute.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glares at him:: Then *you* shack up with her!
YarnKittymon: HR: ::laughs:: She never asked me.
Maeve Owens: MV: Can we get back to the problem at hand? Like how we're going to get a hold of her horse? She'd still wonder what I'd need a horse for, and if she happened to mention it to anyone... well I'd hate for this whole affair to somehow come back on me.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns:: I still say we just tell the authorities. Maeve, they probably saw me come in here.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shakes her head:: They didn't follow me, and I didn't give them my real name so they have no idea where I'm staying.
YarnKittymon: HR: Like they couldn't just describe you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: Maybe they weren't paying attention. Does it matter? Are we really going to let this opportunity slip past us? There has to be a way to get this guy, and soon. YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: You'd really risk your life over it?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she takes a moment to consider it, then shrugs:: Well, if it's any consolation I'm not suppose to die until 1935. Besides, we've done riskier stuff than this.
YarnKittymon: HR: Yeah, when we needed the money. ::frowns:: It's up to you, Maeve, but if you decide to do it and then get killed, I'm not going to feel a bit bad over it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: Gee, thanks for caring.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Two to one they kill you, Maeve. Though the silver lining is, if they do, our Lucas will hang for sure.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Then it'll all be for a good cause. Now, how do we go about getting that horse?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: I probably should just buy it, Maeve. Then I get to introduce myself to a pretty girl *and* stay on the right side of the law.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::laughs:: Wow, and I *almost* thought you were doing it just to play it straight.
YarnKittymon: HR: No worries there. ::motions to the window:: Go look outside and see if any of your anarchists are out there.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles, then gets up to peek out the window::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve doesn't see anyone familiar out there::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she turns back to look at him; softly:: There's no one there.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::gets up, walking to the door:: Be careful, Maeve. You know the horse, right? It'll be in the stable tonight, but it'll be up to you to steal her. We'll meet up tomorrow.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: I thought you were just going to buy it?
YarnKittymon: HR: Sorry--"steal" her. I doubt they'd like it if a guard just *gave* you a horse.
Maeve Owens: MV: Does that mean you're going to report it?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns, then shakes his head:: Nah. I won't know about it, and with luck the stable hands won't tell me...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods;: That's good then. I guess if it happens you could always assign yourself to the case?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods, though he suddenly looks worried:: Yeah. Is the coast still clear?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns, but turns to look out the window again::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve still doesn't see anyone familiar::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shakes her head:: Still clear.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::slips out the door without another word::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shows up at the stables late that night wearing her old clothes made for just such an occasion. Hidden in the shadows, she watches carefully for a good time to slip inside unseen::
YarnKittymon: : ::there is a guard at the stables, but--unbeknownst to the owner--he goes off with a guard shortly after midnight to sneak a drink at the guard's house::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks, not believing her luck, before making her way towards the doors::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve can see Ann's horse over its stall, but she also hears a familiar, annoying voice, very soft now:: You be a good girl, Hannah, promise me.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grits her teeth, rolling her eyes in disgust before edging her way out of sight to wait for the woman to leave::
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse snorts, and Maeve hears it toss its head::
YarnKittymon: AN: Don't take that tone with me, Hannah.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she comes very close to banging her head against the side of the stall she's hiding at::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::comes out of the stall, looking around:: I thought I heard another horse whinny just now...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she holds herself still, biting back the urge to make a face at the woman, regardless of that the fact she wouldn't be able to see it::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::calls out:: Is someone there?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she doesn't make a sound, going as far as holding her breath. She'd rather sufficate than get dragged into a conversation with psycho woman::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::frowns, looking around:: I wonder where the oats are. ::reaches out blindly, searching for them::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looks down at her feet where the oats are sitting, and winces. The only movement she's willing to chance, is to lean just a bit further out of the woman's reach when she comes just a little too close.::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::finally spies the oats, grinning:: There we go! ::reaches down and takes them, as though she hasn't seen Maeve at all, though when she turns her back, she says, in a sing-song voice:: He told me you'd come.
Maeve Owens: MV: :she scowls at the ceiling for a minute, before she steps out of the shadows; smirking:: How'd you know I was there?
YarnKittymon: AN: I heard *someone* come in without making a sound, figured it was probably you.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: If I didn't make a sound then how'd you *hear* me come in?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::yawns widely:: Semantics; it's late. I mean, you sounded like you were trying to be quiet. ::looks seriously at Maeve:: Promise you'll take good care of her.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looks at the woman suspiciously:: What did Harry tell you?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::puts her fingers to her lips, looking around:: I told the buyer I was no longer selling, but he was persuasive, so you may *borrow* her, so long as you're careful.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes sparkle with silent laughter, but her she nods her head to the woman, looking rather serious; quietly: Oh, I plan to be *very* careful.
YarnKittymon: AN: ::nods:: All right, then. Harr--your friend owes me double her price if she's harmed.
Maeve Owens: MV: Okay. You'll get her back soon enough, and without any harm done.
YarnKittymon: AN: ::nods:: All right, then. ::pauses:: I'd best leave, so you can make off with her, hm?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::forces a bright smile:: Yeah, it's getting pretty late.Thank you ever so much for your...help.
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles back:: You're welcome.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she walks towards the stall, feeling rather uneasy when she comes face to face with the animal. After taking a deep breath, she pulls the stall door open, and approaches the horse::
YarnKittymon: : ::Hannah is a patient, friendly old mare, who doesn't shy back from Maeve at all::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she unties the reigns, thanking Harry for having everything ready for her, and gently gives them a little tug to bring the horse out of the stall; softly:: Come on pretty horsy. Niiiice horsy...
YarnKittymon: : ::Hannah nickers, following Maeve out of the stall::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she leads the horse to the door, which she opens a crack, peeking out to see if anyone is around::
YarnKittymon: : ::the streets are fairly deserted, though there's a couple making their way home from the tavern, and quite a loud party still going on inside that building::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she pushes the door open even further and leads the horse out into the night. She flips the reigns over the horse's head, then positions herself to climb aboard. As long as the horse doesn't move, she's quite capable of swinging herself up::
YarnKittymon: : ::although it would be almost impossible for a horse not to sense Maeve's inexperience, Hannah stays motionless for her mistress::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she lets out a sigh of relief once she's sitting atop the large animal. Giving her a gentle kick to her sides, she nudges the animal towards the town's exit, hoping to use the woods there as coverage so she can double back to the shack unseen::
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse follows Maeve's commands, though at a slow pace, and she seems to shy back as they approach the dark forest::
Maeve Owens: MV: Oh, come on, there's nothing in there and we're not going that far. ::she urges the animal quietly, nudging her along::
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse shakes her head, but finally obeys Maeve::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::relaxes a bit, and even strokes the poor horse's mane::
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl Maeve met earlier is waiting in the shadows outside the cabin, but she jumps up to greet the horse and rider as they approach--almost scaring Hannah into running::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::urgently:: Whoa! Whoa horsy! ::she pulls back on the reins, having no idea how to stop the spooked animal::
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse whinnies loudly at the pull on the reins, but its feet still::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::thinking her life was at risk more with the horse than the group of anarchist, she quickly swings down from the saddle. Gathering up the reins, she shoves them into the girl's hand; muttering:: Here's your horse.
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl smiles:: Nice. Do we need to hide her, then?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: I doubt anyone will be looking for it but I guess it wouldn't hurt.
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl nods:: Go wake Vanzi; he'll know what to do.
YarnKittymon: : ::before Maeve can get to the door, the man comes out, fully-dressed in his ragged clothes; he takes the reins from the girl, and looks to Maeve:: Well...you came through.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:: Don't sound so surprised.
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi nods, grinning:: I think we can get started early, then. ::looks at the girl:: Go get Lucas, will you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::the name causes her to tense, but after a moment, she manages to get herself to appear calm::
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl nods, dashing inside::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man Maeve saw earlier comes out, and he gazes at Maeve, as though trying to remember where he's seen her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she works to control her breathing, and thankfully doesn't panic. She meets his gaze with a cold, detached look, but remains quiet::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man keeps his eyes on Maeve and murmurs something to Vanzi, who frowns::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs, seeming not to be bothered:: Is there a problem? ::she glances back at the horse, then turns to the men again::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas suddenly swings himself onto the horse as though he's a natural, and offers a hand up to Vanzi, who hesitates::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: Where are you going?
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi finally shakes his head::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas smirks:: I'm not going to let *you* derail our plan!
Maeve Owens: MV: Hey, I just got you a *horse*! I thought I was entitled to the plan?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas frowns, pondering; after a moment:: Do you know what the papers you stole back in New York were?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:: Plans to make some big shot go out with a *bang*?
YarnKittymon: : ::the frown melts away from Lucas's face, and he almost looks pale:: What did you want them for, then?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::coldly:: Does it matter?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas glares:: Of course it does.
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, I imagine it was the same *plan* you had. Although, at least I would have executed it on my own instead of standing back and letting everyone else do the work for me. ::smirks::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas frowns; quietly:: One of the men's maids was killed outright, and a butler lost his hands.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she blinks:: From the house we took them from? Because of the missing papers?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas laughs:: Are you dense? It was the package bombs!
Maeve Owens: ((i dont understant... should maeve understand this?))
YarnKittymon: ((Depends on if she ever read the papers etc. or not, which she probably didn't, really, or she might've recognized the two anarchists' names as being Sacco and Vanzetti (sp?), Italian anarchists who were probably wrongly executed in the US in 1927 :) ))
Maeve Owens: ((then i guess those must be aliases ;P and no, they never got the chance to read them. and why were they wrongly executed?))
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks:: Well, I kind of lost track of what happened concerning that whole mess.
YarnKittymon: ((Supposedly because of the "Red Scare" in the 1920s...although, I think it was 1920 when there was a cart bomb at Wall Street that killed quite a few people :P ))
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas looks heavenward for a moment, before glaring down at Maeve again:: Well, *this* time we'll be met with success!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::glaring back:: Well, lets hope so.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas murmurs:: I *know* so. ::looks back at the Vanzi:: I'll see you in two days.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::trying not to sound too interested:: Where you headed?
YarnKittymon: : To finish planning.
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, then don't I get to come along? I mean, someone has to let me in on what's going on? I didn't just get a horse for you people out of the goodness of my heart.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas looks at Maeve for a moment, then nods:: You can walk alongside if you like.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::scowls at him:: Very funny. But I think I'd rather just meet you there.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas shakes his head:: Sorry. ::and he gently nudges Hannah, starting the horse walking::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::frustrated, she glances over at Vanzi:: I thought we had a deal.
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi shrugs:: He hasn't told any of us *where* his things are, not yet.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks slightly amused:: Really? And he's going to disappear for *two* days? To plan? Without the rest of the group?
YarnKittymon: : We have some backup to do in town.
Maeve Owens: MV: Do I get to have a hand in that? ::her eyes slide to where Lucas is heading::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas just rides into the forest::
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi frowns:: I'm sure Sacco can find something for you to do.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::looks rather aggrivated;: Fine. I'll come back in the morning I guess. For now, I'm getting some sleep. ::turns to head off::
YarnKittymon: : ::Vanzi nods, but this time, he sends the girl to follow Maeve at a safe distance::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she walks in the general direction of town, looking back every so often to see if anyone is following her::
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl stops still every time Maeve glances back, though Maeve still might spot her; it's not too dark in town::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::just in case someone is following her that she cant see, she slips into the shadows of a nearby alley, hoping to make a few quick turns, and determine if anyone is indeed following her::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve finally catches sight of the female anarchist::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she slips further back into the shadows, hoping the girl will give up and go away::
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl draws back, but doesn't seem to be going away::)
Maeve Owens: MV: ::thinks to herself the woman must have an internal tracking device. Without making much noise at all, she keeps moving, making a few turns, hoping to throw the girl off::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve finally seems to have escaped::Maeve Owens: MV: ::being overly cautious, she sneaks her way over to Harry's, and knocks on the door...just in case he's entertaining::
YarnKittymon: : ::Harry comes to the door a minute later, rubbing his eyes, in his pajamas::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::softly:: Can I come in? ::she glances over her shoulder, looking worried::
YarnKittymon: : ::Harry instantly steps back, letting Maeve in, and closing and locking the door the moment she's inside:: You okay?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: The girl followed me but I'm pretty sure I lost her. Although, it couldn't have looked good.
YarnKittymon: HR: So what brings you here *now*?
Maeve Owens: MV; Lucas. Who has an excellent memory by the way. He's on his way out of town. He just left. Suppose to be gone for two days but his friends know nothing of his plans, or where he's keeping his supplies.
YarnKittymon: HR: Let me guess; you want to go after him.
Maeve Owens: MV: Yes! Don't you? No matter what I have to lay low because they're going to want me to help them out with something around here.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::heads back to his bedroom to change clothes:: I'll probably get fired over this.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces:: Kizzie is going to kill me, and Libby for that matter if she finds out.
YarnKittymon: HR: At least Libby's out of town; I have at least half a dozen people who will want me *hanged* if I'm not back for the queen's arrival.
Maeve Owens: MV: Oh well, maybe if we save someone from getting murdered all will be forgiven. ::she pauses:: I suppose I could go on my own. After all, the rest of the group will be up to no good around here.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head:: No; I'm already halfway dressed. And we both know how dangerous that man is.
Maeve Owens: MV: That doesn't mean I can't handle it.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head, coming out of his bedroom and buttoning his shirt:: Sorry. We're a team on this one.
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, I guess the others cant move until Lucas gets back. If he was planning to return at all.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shrugs:: We have two days anyway, right?

Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces:: Yeah.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: Think you can slip out without being seen? I can meet you in the forest.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles:: Well, a back door or window would be ideal, but if not, I can make do.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::motions to the back door:: Make sure to look out before you leave.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she chuckles:: It might be close to ten years, but I haven't forgotten *how* this is done. ::grins::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::sits down to put on his boots; quietly:: Yeah, I know.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::shaking her head at him, she goes to stand by the window. She pulls back the curtain just enough to where she can see the street::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve doesn't see anyone, but there's quite a few shadows outside in the dark, and she can't see everywhere this time::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she lets the curtain fall back into place:: Its tough to tell if anyone is out there. Maybe you should kill the lights? It'll make it harder to see...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::turns off the light::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::opens the door just enough for her to slip out. She closes it quietly behind her, and staying in the shadows, she makes her way towards the forest::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::meets up with her about twenty minutes later::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: I really hope we catch up with him. ::and with that, she heads off in the direction she saw Lucas going in::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quickly walks alongside her; softly:: What do we do if we find him?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs;: I guess we're going to have to follow him to wherever he is going. We cant really do anything to him until we know his exact plans... or have *something* to work with... right?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods; softly:: But what are you thinking; blackmail? Because if he's really an anarchist, I'm not sure he'll care much.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::shakes her head:: Nope, I'm thinking set up, or making it really impossible for him to carry out his plans. If his friends were to think he played them for fools... I think they'd take care of him for us. ::she winces, glancing at Harry:: That sounds really evil doesnt it?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: Well, he almost killed *us.* Do you have any idea at all what he's up to?
Maeve Owens: MV: Just that they are planning to take out someone in a powerful position.
YarnKittymon: HR: Like the queen?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::nods::
YarnKittymon: HR: But no idea *how*?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::shakes her head:: They wouldn't tell me. Just that it was going to be with a "bang"
YarnKittymon: HR: ::his eyes widen:: That's probably a gun or explosives...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Do you know what was in those papers we stole?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head:: Not a thing, except they were top secret and those gangsters wanted them too. Why?
Maeve Owens: MV: A maid died and a butler lost both of his hands.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head; softly:: Had to have been some sort of bomb, then, if it had to do with the papers, anyway.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::nods::
YarnKittymon: : ::they walk along the path for about an hour before Harry raises his lantern and catches sight of some hoofprints heading off the path::
Maeve Owens: MV: And off the beaten path we go... ::follows the hoof prints::
YarnKittymon: : ::they don't get that far before they see a big sign that reads "No Trespassing"::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks back at Harry, and smirks:: I didn't see that. Did you? ::attempts to turn the sign around::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::laughs::
YarnKittymon: : ::the sign's a simple thing, probably put up recently, and it's easy to pull the wooden stake from the ground and then re-place it::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::tosses it on the ground:: Shall we go? ::walks on::
YarnKittymon: HR: Sure.
YarnKittymon: : ::they don't make it that much farther before they come upon a wooden fence blocking the path, though it's only about twenty feet wide, so it would be easy enough to leave the path and go around; the fence has a sign in bright red reading "Keep Out"::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::easily hoists herself up, and over the fence::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::grunts, and does the same, though he lands a little harder than Maeve::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::an eyebrow shoots upwards, and she smirks at him, but she doesn't say a word as she moves on down the path::
YarnKittymon: : ::there's one more sign on their way that says:: "Final Warning"::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: What the heck is with all the signs? I feel like leaving a note of my own.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shrugs:: I didn't figure he was polite.
Maeve Owens: MV: I wonder where he's hiding out? It wouldn't do to well to be spotted by him... ::she looks around, looking for a way to move unseen::
YarnKittymon: : ::suddenly, as she's walking forward, her attention turned away from the ground, Maeve feels her foot pull on a rope that she hadn't seen in the path--almost before she can even think, the tree to the right side of her explodes in a mess of fire and splinters that travel in all directions::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she yelps, the noise, and fire clearly scaring her. Her arms come up to protect her face, even as little splinters embed themselves into her skin::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::cries out as a largeish piece of wood drives itself deep in his arm, though at least he shielded his face as well::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her arms come away from her face as she spins to face Harry; too much in shock to say much of anything::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::drops to his knees, then looks up at Maeve; his face is free of splinters, but his hair is singed; softly, in a high-pitched voice:: You okay?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her right side is covered in little splinters, and there's a few burnt holes in her clothes. After a moment, she gingerly walks closer to him; in a soft, calm voice:: If you want, pull that out now, and wrap it but we need to get out of here.. he might be on his way over here...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::cries out softly as he moves his arm the wrong way, and he curses softly, then holds out his arm to Maeve; whispers:: Take it out. ::he draws a knife from his belt with his left hand as he waits for her to move::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she cringes, but reaches out with her left hand to pull it free::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::has to bite back a yell as the three-inch-long long splinter is removed, and he's surprised at how much blood there is once it's gone--he quickly abandons his thoughts of slicing off his bloodied sleeve for a bandage, and rips his shirt off, wrapping the full length of his arm in it::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Can you move? ::she glances anxiously over her shoulder::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods grimly; quietly:: Let's get him.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shake her head; her voice finally getting its strength back:: No, you're losing too much blood Harry...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: I'll stay awake long enough for Toby to help me out. Come on.
Maeve Owens: MV: You'd better not be lying because I *wont* be able to drag you back to town.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods, walking forward, though it's a bit of an effort to keep on his feet::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her voice low;: Harry... we should turn around because if you collapse in the middle of this Lucas is going to kill the both of us...
YarnKittymon: : ::before Harry can reply, they see Lucas himself approaching, sneering at the both of them:: Can't the two of you read?
Maeve Owens: MV: : Yeah, but to us, no trespassing signs might as well say "come on in, take what you like!" :she smirks::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas shakes his head in disgust:: Well, I told you to stay away.
Maeve Owens: MV: And I brought you a horse, so I'm entitled to some answers.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas grimaces:: *I* have *my* answer. Needs more gunpowder.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::grunts:: Really? I thought it did a "superb" job.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man shakes his head:: What are you doing here, anyway? It's not exactly answers you're looking for, is it?
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, your friends seemed to think *you* held all of them.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas suddenly turns away, walking quickly, back towards his cabin::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances sideways at Harry, before she starts to follow him. If the splinters are hurting, she's giving no indication of it::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::cries out softly as he reaches for his knife again, slowly drawing it, and stealing a glance at Maeve::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smiles weakly::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::walks forward quickly, crying out as he goes too fast; this catches Lucas's attention, and in a moment the two are fighting::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen, and for a moment she just stares in shock, before she moves to try and pry them apart:: Stop it! This isn't accomplishing anything!
YarnKittymon: HR: ::manages to stab Lucas in the shoulder pretty well::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man is trying to reach for his own weapon, though Maeve's not at an angle to see what it is::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sharply:: Harry! ::attempts to push him away from Lucas::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::yells as Maeve jars his arm, and he loses his grip on Lucas::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas turns his anger to Maeve, and he finally gets his weapon out--it's a simple pistol::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::facing Harry; quietly:: Sorry, afraid you were going to kill him there for a minute. ::she smirks at him, clearly not ready let Lucas off *that* easily::
YarnKittymon: : ::Harry's in a bit too much pain to quite notice what's going on, but he hears Lucas cock his pistol::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stiffens, then ever so slowly turns to face their old friend. Her eyes travel down to the gun, then back up to his face; shrugging, she smirks:: Go ahead. It's more likely to kill *you* than me.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas smirks:: Guns and bombs use the same stuff, Marina, and I managed to make the bomb work, you know.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she seems to consider this, then deciding it's not worth the risk, she moves swiftly. She reaches out, trying to push his arm away from the two of them while she tries to wrestle the gun from his grip::
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve pushes Lucas so the gun's not pointed towards anyone, but she can't get it out of his hand--after a moment, the weapon discharges with a noise loud enough someone fifteen minutes away would have heard::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she jumps, startled by the loud noise, and while she doesn't release her hold on him, she definitely forgets to struggle::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::forces himself forward, grabbing Lucas from behind and pressing his knife to the man's throat; softly:: Drop it.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas goes a tiny bit pale, and his gun falls to the ground::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she reaches down to scoop it up::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks at Maeve as if to ask "what now?"::
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, he's at our mercy now... make him talk.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::gruffly:: What were you planning, then?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas closes his eyes:: Search my things and you'll find out. I'd as soon die at the hands of traitors than on a gallows.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she almost laughs, but manages to keep a straight face:: Where are your things?
YarnKittymon: : ::annoyed:: In my cabin, genius.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glares at him as she moves on by:: Maybe we can find something there to tie him up with.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Might be a trap.
Maeve Owens: MV: :she stops, then turns back to look at him:: Then what do we do?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: I'd say take him back to town...
Maeve Owens: MV: After all this all he's going to get is a jail cell?
YarnKittymon: HR: Well, what do you want? You're the one who wanted to go back to town in the first place!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces:: Okay then, lets take him back. But what are we going to say? We need evidence don't we?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas glares at them:: You know, when the others hear of this, you'll both be killed.
Maeve Owens: MV: Not if they're thrown into the jail cell next to yours.
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: You think they're the only ones?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glances up to Harry::
YarnKittymon: HR: Would you rather we make it so you're never found, then?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas laughs weakly:: It'll wind up the same either way, won't it?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stays quiet, trying to figure out a solution::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: He probably has more explosives...we could always try them on *him.*
Maeve Owens: MV: We could do that. Or somehow get word to his pals that *he* has double crossed them. I'm just not sure how to do that while alerting someone, anyone, that just maybe he was after the queen.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::still quietly:: We just say he confessed. ::softly:: If they find any evidence, he'll probably go to the gallows...though if we caught him in the act, he surely would.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she frowns:: But I really wanted to set him up... what if we took away all his supplies? Surely his friends would be upset that he failed once again? ::she looks back to Lucas::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas glares:: What do you mean, "Once again," anyway?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: You said before that your plan back in New York didnt go as you wanted it to.
YarnKittymon: : I didn't know them then, anyway; what would they care?
Maeve Owens: MV: I dont know, just had to point out that your prone to failure. Is that why you let us rob the house for you?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::suddenly glares:: We don't have time for this. ::presses the knife to Lucas's neck, nearly cutting him:: Say your prayers.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas softly says:: What do you want? I'll give you anything if you just let me go.
Maeve Owens: MV: I'm afraid we don't trust you enough for that.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas suddenly says:: Take me home, and I'll show you where everything is, if you'll try to get me a lighter sentence.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: I thought you'd rather die than go to prison?
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas softly says:: I'm afraid.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen:: Afraid of dying?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man nods; softly:: Please...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks up at Harry:: I'm not sure we can trust him, but I guess we have no other creative ideas other than to turn him over to the authorities.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns; quietly:: Let's take him to his house then.
Maeve Owens: MV: Maybe we should let him lead the way? :: she waves the gun at him::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas nods, walking forward as far as Harry will let him::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is having a hard time keeping up, but he doesn't dare lower the knife from Lucas's throat::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sighs, feeling a bit worried about this, but she follows closely behind them::
YarnKittymon: : ::they're not met with any more traps on the way to the cabin. Just outside the cabin is a small shed, Hannah is probably stabled. Lucas unlocks the front door of the cabin for them; the inside is barer than even an average bachelor pad, with nothing that looks at all incriminating::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she peeks in:: So where's this incriminating evidence hidden at?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::grimaces:: Three to one it's in the shed. You see any rope?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: Maybe there's some in the shed.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::groans softly:: One of us should check, then. Can you cover him?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods:: Just be careful of any traps.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Yeah.
YarnKittymon: : ::once Harry's left, Lucas looks at Maeve and softly says:: Is it all right if I say a little prayer?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::dryly:: Be my guest.
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas kneels on the floor, at the edge away from the shed, and turns his back to Maeve, his hands down in front of him:: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::a bit suspicious, she walks around to the front of him::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas very suddenly strikes a match and lights a piece of wick coming up from under the floorboards::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she gasps, but turns to dash out of the shack:: Harry!
YarnKittymon: HR: ::hurries out of the shed as soon as he hears Maeve:: What's wrong?
Maeve Owens: MV: He's about to blow the shed up! Try to stop it! I've got to get the horse! ::she dashes past him, and towards Hannah::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::unfortunately, has absolutely no idea what Maeve's talking about, and he just looks around dumbly::
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse is inside the shed, in a stall, not two feet away from a cart laden with more explosives than you'd see in Chinatown on Chinese New Year::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stops to gawk at the explosives before she unties Hannah's reins, and pushes her towards the door::
YarnKittymon: : ::if Hannah had been anywhere near as skittish as the average horse, she would have reacted poorly to Maeve's fear, but the horse is a steady creaature, and she follows Maeve out::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::urgently:: Harry... unless you've found the line of gunpowder to this shed I suggest we get on this horse and make haste.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::finally catches sight of the flaming fuse as it's headed up the wall into the shed; he runs forward and just barely pinches it off in time, before it reaches the explosives::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::lets out a sigh of relief:: Well, one disaster avoided... now we just have to figure out where our "friend" went. ::she turns back towards the shack::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas isn't inside::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::curses several times, under his breath::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::grumbles: I did not expect him to be hiding a fuse under his bed.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: I'm surprised he didn't hold a stick of dynamite to us to get those plans. ::starts walking towards the forest, but he stumbles and very nearly falls::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::pulling Hannah along with them; softly:: Maybe you should ride back Harry?
YarnKittymon: : ::the horse does stomp her hoof once over the smell of blood everywhere::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: We have to find him...::closes his eyes, listening, then starts walking through the forest, still shakily::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sharply:: Harry! He's long gone. And you need to get back to Toby. I'll stay here. Make sure he doesn't come back for the evidence until you can alert the proper people.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::cringes:: He might have more fuses, Maeve!
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, I'll check around! But you're not going to last much longer and if you collapse out here... I might not be able to find my way back to you!
YarnKittymon: HR: He's *dangerous*. I can't leave you here with him. Go back yourself.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::glares at him, but she caves in:: Fine. Then we both go back. You *need* to see Toby.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::slowly shakes his head; weakly:: Do you think we'll be able to track him again?
Maeve Owens: MV: No. But its a mute point since you're hurt.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::curses again, then, softly:: You can stay if you've got your heart set on it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: I don't know. I'm half afraid you either wont make it back, or wont go back.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: I'm a guard, Maeve... I can't let the queen of Yarnia come into danger just because I'm bleeding a bit.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sounding frustrated:: You're stumbling all over the place Harry! Now honestly? How much more time do you have before your body gives out? We dont have time to be arguing over this.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::pats Hannah's shoulder, and then struggles to get onto her back; she's unsaddled::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::helps push him up::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks down at Maeve, struggling to sit up straight:: Be careful, Maeve.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quietly:: Are you going to be fine on your own?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Yeah, I promise.
Maeve Owens: MV; ::she nods:: See you soon then.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::gently taps Hannah's ribs with his foot, and the horse starts on a gallop::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::worriedly, she watches him go::
YarnKittymon: : ::Lucas doesn't return that night::

YarnKittymon: AN: ::comes back to Isaac's house well past midnight, though she was silly enough to forget to try to get a key; she tries the front door, hoping it's unlocked::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::hasn't gone to bed yet so he hasn't got round to locking the door; he's currently in the kitchen making himself a sandwich::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::opens the door and tiptoes inside; when she sees a light in the kitchen she heads that way, closing and locking the door behind her::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks up when Ann reaches the doorway:: Heya, you're back late
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles weakly:: Yeah. ::looking a bit worried:: Um...I hope you hadn't been counting on having Hannah after all.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shakes his head:: I already told you i didn't want anything from you ::frowns slightly:: Is anything wrong? What's happened to her?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::laughs, trying to sound light:: I lent her out, and that always makes me nervous.
Quantum Catz: IS: It's a bit late for someone to be wanting a horse, isn't it?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::shrugs helplessly:: A guard gave me good money to rent her, and said it was all for government business. I checked; he's one of the guards.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::reassuringly:: I'm sure she'll be fine
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles; softly:: Yeah, you're probably right. ::after a moment:: Got hungry this late at night, did you?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shrugs:: Couldn't really sleep, it was something to do - do you want anything?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::shakes her head, but after a moment:: A piece of bread actually sounds good about now.
Quantum Catz: IS: Just a piece of bread? You don't want a sandwich?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::shakes her head, then, with a shy smile:: Well, maybe a bit of butter or jam, if you have it.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shrugs and smiles:: Apparently i make a lot more money here healing people than i ever did working on the boats back home - i think i can cope with sharing some butter and jam
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles, pulling them out:: Would be nice if my power were so useful. I've had offers to work in the mines, but I'm not really strong enough to make it worthwhile, and ugh, it's not fun.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles:: Josh's power is to make things smell like chocolate, i guess it all just depends what hand you're dealt
YarnKittymon: AN: ::laughs lightly:: Okay, that's less useful than mine, for sure.
Quantum Catz: IS: And Maeve can make fireballs apparently - which i guess could be just as dangerous as helpful ::smiles at Ann:: You should probably just appreciate what you've got
YarnKittymon: AN: ::her smile fades slightly as she thinks of Maeve; after a pause:: I have my brother now...thanks to you. Even if I had the worst power in the world, I'd still be happy to have him.
Quantum Catz: IS: I'm glad i could help with that anyway
YarnKittymon: AN: ::takes a bite of her bread and jam; softly:: I still wish there was more I could do for you.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::chuckles:: How many times do i have to tell you it's fine and i don't want anything else?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles:: At least once more. ::snaps her fingers:: Maybe a picnic! If Hannah comes back, I mean.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::laughs:: It would get me out of the house anyway, i guess
YarnKittymon: AN: Teddy can watch the kids, unless you want them to come too.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks at Ann for a moment and then looks away:: I don't think Josh would appreciate being left behind for a picnic
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles armly, putting her free hand on Isaac's shoulder:: Don't worry; if I unload the cart, it's big enough for all of us.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::uncertainly:: D'you think Maeve would want to come too?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::frowns:: I don't know; you...::pauses, shaking her head:: Your *family* knows her better than I do.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::sighs:: Yeah, i guess so
YarnKittymon: AN: You're welcome to bring her along, if you want.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shrugs:: She might not even want to
YarnKittymon: AN: Well, I can ask her. ::pauses:: Although if you want her to go, *you* should...I don't know that she'd accept an invitation from me.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles weakly:: This whole situation's probably even more difficult for her than it is for me at times
YarnKittymon: AN: ::frowns; quietly:: Were you two...close?
Quantum Catz: IS: I guess so - the kids treat her like one of the family, in some ways
YarnKittymon: AN: The beloved babysitter, I guess?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::hesitates; uncertainly:: I think she was more than that...but i don't really have any idea what that makes her now
YarnKittymon: AN: ::frowns, turning away:: Oh...I'm sorry.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::shrugs wearily:: There's nothing to be sorry to me about...i don't even remember her - it's her i feel bad for, i wish i could just make it all better, for her and the kids
YarnKittymon: AN: ::frowns, looking troubled::
YarnKittymon: JH: ::wanders into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks up:: Hey...Josh...
YarnKittymon: JH: ::softly:: Sorry...I saw you were up awful late...::yawns::
Quantum Catz: IS: I didn't mean to wake you...
YarnKittymon: JH: ::shakes his head; softly:: You didn't. ::pads into the kitchen and hugs Isaac::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::puts his arm around Josh; he still feels a bit strange around his siblings but his mind's starting to get used to the differences from what he remembers::
YarnKittymon: JH: ::softly, looking up at his brother:: You should go to bed...if you don't get enough sleep, you'll get sick again.
Quantum Catz: IS: Don't worry - i've had plenty of sleep these past few days, i'll be alrigt
YarnKittymon: JH: ::glances over at Ann:: Don't *you* keep him up late.
YarnKittymon: AN: ::laughs slightly, probably not meaning what she says the way it comes out:: Don't worry; the moment he wants to go to bed, I'll be right there with him.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::blushes a bit at Ann's phrasing, though he's not sure if Josh is old enough to have picked up on it::
YarnKittymon: JH: ::doesn't seem to get it at all, looking at Ann sternly:: You'd better be. ::turns to go::
Quantum Catz: IS: G'night Josh
YarnKittymon: JH: ::pauses, then looks back at Ann; quietly:: And Maeve was Isaac's girlfriend, even if he doesn't remember her now.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks down, realising that Josh must have heard them talking::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::blinks, never mind that she'd already guessed:: I'm...sorry your brother lost his memories, Josh.
YarnKittymon: JH: ::glares at Ann silently::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::softly:: Shouldn't you be getting back up to bed, Josh?
YarnKittymon: JH: ::looks down, sighing:: I guess. ::looks back up at Isaac as if silently begging him not to get too close to Ann; softly:: 'Night.
Quantum Catz: IS: Sleep well
YarnKittymon: JH: ::nods soberly, and heads back to his room::
YarnKittymon: AN: ::runs a hand through her hair, frowning, glancing at Isaac hesitantly::
Quantum Catz: IS: Sorry...i think he and Eli are a bit defensive about Maeve - it can't be easy on kids when they start getting used to the way things are then they go and change again
YarnKittymon: AN: ::softly:: I wouldn't...want to mess up anything you had...but it's hardly your fault if you don't remember...
Quantum Catz: IS: ::Shrugs:: I guess it's just a case of waiting and seeing how things go - for all i know i'll wake up and remember everything tomorrow, or may never remember any of it again...
YarnKittymon: AN: ::quietly:: I can't imagine you'd just remember it, though, unless someone found a variant or a doctor who could bring them back for you.
Quantum Catz: IS: They might come back gradually though, i guess ::sighs:: I wish there was a variant or a doctor around with a handy cure
YarnKittymon: AN: ::quietly:: I've never seen one, but...::snaps her fingers, then restrains herself, though she's still smiling in a secretive fashion::
Quantum Catz: IS: But what?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smirks:: I don't want to get your hopes up. So I won't.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::laughs a bit:: Alright, it's a good thing i'm not an impatient person
YarnKittymon: AN: ::laughs, then sobers slightly:: Teddy wasn't a bother this evening, was he? He's been known to sleepwalk once or twice.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles:: No, he's been fine
YarnKittymon: AN: Good to hear. ::gets up suddenly, looking through the cupboards::
Quantum Catz: IS: ::looks a bit bemused:: What are you looking for?
YarnKittymon: AN: Flour, sugar, eggs, butter...
Quantum Catz: IS: It's a bit late to be baking something, isn't it?
YarnKittymon: AN: Yes, but I'll get to work first thing in the morning...just want to see if I'll have to go to market first.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::still looking rather bemused:: Alright ::half-joking:: Although you know you don't have to do any cooking for me either, right?
YarnKittymon: AN: ::grins:: I know.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles:: Guess i've said all i can then
YarnKittymon: AN: ::finally:: You'll need eggs, but that should be it. ::pauses:: Your sister isn't going to be offended, is she?
Quantum Catz: IS: I don't think so - you could always ask her if she wants to help in the morning
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smirks:: I'd best ask if she'd like *me* to help *her.* But the cake's my idea and I'm baking it anyway.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles:: Well i won't stop you as long as Dolly doesn't mind
YarnKittymon: AN: ::still smiling:: All right. I'm not keeping you up, am I?
Quantum Catz: IS: ::smiles weakly:: I should probably get some sleep really
YarnKittymon: AN: ::nods:: Just as well, or else Josh will have my head in the morning.
Quantum Catz: IS: ::chuckles:: Probably
YarnKittymon: AN: ::smiles back at Isaac:: Well, good night, then.
Quantum Catz: IS: Good night, Ann
