Griffchook: ER: ::on the end of the pier that Libby jumped off. Sitting, with her legs dangling over the edge. Her hair is a mess and her shoelaces are still untied::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::appears near the pier, but doesn't step onto it - just stands on the land looking out at the ocean. Notices Erin and smiles sadly but doesn't move towards her::
Griffchoo: ER: ::is humming a slow song to herself, shivers in the cool breeze::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs and moves onto the pier:: You shouldn't be so close to the water. It might not be safe
Griffchook: ER: ::ignores Becky, hums louder::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::moves closer to the edge, looking nervous:: Please Erin
Griffchook: ER: ::still staring out over the sea:: Becky, there's something that I still don't know. ::turns to face her:: Why did she do it?
Quantum Catz: BM: It doesn't matter
Griffchoo: ER: I guess not. I'm not sure I even want to know.
Quantum Catz: BM: She won't...she won't try it again. She promised ::looks out at the sea and then winces and turns back to Erin::
Griffchook: ER: ::rises shakily to her feet:: C'mon Becky, lets get out of this wind. ::reaches for Beckyís hand::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::takes Erin's hand and smiles:: Thanks. I used to like this place...not anymore I guess
Griffchook: ER: ::takes one last look across the ocean:: Some things you will never forget. ::stands still for a moment, then leads Becky towards one of the cafes::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks up at Erin uncertainly:: It must be pretty hard...when your powers make you see something like that...
Griffchook: ER: Yeah, it's rough. But what can you do? ::stops walking:: I didn't ask for any special ability, none of us did. But most of the time I can cope. I feel normal, I *am* normal. I have to be at least thankful for that.
Quantum Catz: BM: I never really cared about being normal - it feels too much like pretending
Griffchook: ER: Everyone pretends to be something they're not. And I pretend to be a normal girl leading a normal life. ::looks suspiciously at Becky:: I'll bet even you are pretending about something.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs and mutters under her breath:: I've never pretended to myself about what I am
Griffchook: ER: What?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: If you used your powers you'd learn to control them
Griffchook: ER: When I didn't use my powers I didn't *need* to control them! I should have destroyed that card the moment Libby gave it to me. I knew it would only cause me trouble!
Quantum Catz: BM: ::frowns:: What's the point then? What's the point in being any different than anyone else if you don't even *try*?! Don't you think it's hard for us all? Do you have any idea what it's like to teleport into the middle of a wall? Well I do and it's scary but that didn't stop *me*. why should it be any different for you?
Griffchook: ER: ::leans her face in her hand and closes her eyes. Whispers quietly:: I didn't ask for this...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::wearily:: No one asks for it
Griffchook: ER: I know, I know...but why me? It's what I've been asking myself over and over ::sighs. Face looks quite pale:: I need to sit down.
Quantum Catz: BM: There's a bench over there ::watches Erin worriedly:: Are you okay? I didn't mean to get mad
Griffchook: ER: ::walks slowly over to the bench and sits down:: Being lectured at by a ten year old, it's turning out to be a great day ::forces a smile::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::embarrassed:: Sorry
Griffchook: ER: ::tousles Becky's hair:: No, it's okay. I deserved it. ::notices her loose shoelaces:: Goodness me, I'm in a right state. ::Bends to tie her laces, then fixes her hair::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::uncertainly:: You are going to keep going with the Freak Show...aren't you?
Griffchook: ER: I'll have to...for now anyway. How could I tell Libby?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: She'd probably understand...but I don't think you should quit. I think you need to try and control your power - you can't spend the rest of your life pretending it doesn't exist
Griffchook: ER: I have done, and I can do it again. And if I had my way I would. What if I never find a way to control it? And what if I have to see every terrifying moment of a stranger's life? It's too big a risk. I was fine before, and it's not too late to put it back to the way things were
Quantum Catz: BM: It's part of who you are. I've known people who tried to pretend they didn't have powers and they felt they were living a lie. I could never do it
Griffchook: ER: I could, I know I could. But I can't leave now. Ethan has made that much clear, at least. ::stares at her hands:: But I don't see how I could stay, surely you understand?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::chuckles wryly:: I don't think Iím the best person to convince you not to run...Iíve run away from things for most of my life. It's just...before I met Libby and the rest of you, my powers were the only thing I did trust, y'know? It made me feel safer, somehow
Griffchook: ER: Safer? I can't say I've ever felt that way about it. Nervous perhaps, afraid, yes. ::pauses:: And don't say 'running'. I'm not running away from anything, I'm just... ::wrinkles her nose:: Well, I'm not 'running'.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs:: Don't know what else Iíd call it
Griffchook: ER: Anyway ::tosses her head:: I know Libby has problems right now, and I don't want to be one of them. So to answer your question - I'm going to keep going with Freakshow until it starts making money, when I'm no longer depended on for the success of the show
Quantum Catz: BM: ::grins:: Thatís plenty of time for us to change your mind
Griffchook: ER: Why are you so eager for me to stay anyway? I thought you were against the show.
Quantum Catz: BM: I'm against people I don't trust knowing about my powers. But Libby's doing this so we do have people we can trust - people like us. I think that's a pretty good reason to stick around
Griffchook: ER: Yes, ::thoughtfully:: perhaps it's the real reason I'm staying on? ::shivers and wraps her cardigan around her:: I hadn't realised how cold it was. Aren't you freezing?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::groans:: Not this again ::vanishes for a moment and reappears wearing a jacket:: Happy?
Squidged: ER: ::laughs:: See? Now that's a power I wouldn't mind having. ::frowns:: Why couldn't I have gotten something useful?
Quantum Catz: BM: Who says it isn't useful? Maybe one day you'd see something that you could...I dunno...help or prevent...
Squidged: ER: And what are the chances of that? I'd much rather sprout wings and command lightening ::grins broadly::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::chuckles and then sighs:: RememberÖhe killed his family and he still learned
Squidged: ER: I wish you hadnít mentioned that. I know Alex has his own story, I'll bet everyone has, but I'd give anything to change my power, or ideally to have none at all.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shakes her head:: I guess I'm not gonna change your mind
Squidged: ER: No, I am not going to start practicing my power. So you can stop trying.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs and smiles:: We can stop talking about it if you want. You wanna go do something?
Squidged: ER: Sure. Hope you know where we are...I just kinda found myself here after leaving Freakshow.
Quantum Catz: BM: Well I got here somehow with Ethan and Libby, can't be that hard. We can go and see if any of the rides are on
Squidged: ER: ::stands up and brushes herself down:: That's the best idea you've had all day. Want to come on a rollercoaster with me? I've never been before.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::grins:: Sure - let's go
Squidged: ER: Great! ::grins and takes Becky's hand::

Squidged: ((And, chattering softly as they make there way to the rollercoasters, the sun sets on Coney Island and the credits roll ^_- ))
