~Friday, April 17, 1931 part 3~

YarnKittymon: LB: ::whispers softly to Jack, looking towards the edge of town, frowning:: Again, how are we going to make it out?
Quantum Catz: JK: There are blind spots around the town, where the guards can't see, i'm headin fer one of them
YarnKittymon: : ::they suddenly hear a man yell:: Fred, what are you doing?! Miss, this area is quarantined.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::turns her head ahead and to the left a bit, where the voice was coming from, and where they can just see a guard running in the other direction, through a gap in the buildings::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::softly:: Come on, we need to stay outta the guards way. Sounds like old Fred's bein distracted anyway, which helps us out a bit
YarnKittymon: LB: ::follows Jack like a shadow, glancing around nervously::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::follows behind the two of them::::
YarnKittymon: : ::when they get to the edge of town, they can just barely see Fred and Pete, another guard, talking with a rather striking, rather confident-looking woman, at least 60 yards away from them; neither seems to be looking their way::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::smirks:: Well this helps us quite a bit; i'll have to buy that girl a drink one day - come on, if we move a bit further round they shouldn't be able to see us even if they look around, there are enough trees to block their sight if we stick to them
YarnKittymon: LB: ::does exactly as Jack says, not saying a word::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she follows along without comment:::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::turns occasionally to keep an eye on the guards as he moves until they reach the handful of trees that obscure their view::
YarnKittymon: : ::the guards don't seem to notice them at all::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sighs deeply when the guards are completely out of sight; grabs Jack's hand::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::grins at Libby when she sighs:: Anyone woulda thought you didn't trust me to manage this?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::gets on her tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek:: Thanks.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances away quickly, instead choosing to looking anywhere but at them:::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::chuckles:: Hey, i'm a born smuggler, what can i say? Just stick to the trees alright, 'case they get observant at all
Maeve Owens: MV: :::rolls her eyes::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, pulling out a compass from her bag:: There should be a path this way in less than half a mile, if you think we can stick to it.
Quantum Catz: JK: I reckon it should be alright
Maeve Owens: MV: How far away is this place?
YarnKittymon: LB: Six, eight miles? It shouldn't take too long to get there, with any luck.
Maeve Owens: MV: And do we know what we are doing once we get there?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::frowns a little:: I don't know what will be there to find. Maybe just some dead bodies or something. Maybe poison in the water.
Quantum Catz: JK: Maybe we're just gonna find yer regular old dam, but i guess we'll see when we get there
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: I hope I'm not mad...
Maeve Owens: MV: After risking being thrown in jail we had better find *something* there.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::doesn't answer::
Quantum Catz: JK: Come on, the quicker we get there the quicker we'll know
YarnKittymon: : ::they get to the path in about ten minutes of walking; the footprints and wagon-wheel tracks that are usually prominent have faded considerably since Marquis has been shut off from the rest of the island::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::tries to smile:: It should just be a couple hours if we keep at it.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she doesn't reply, instead just picks up her pace:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::walks faster, too, and is a little out-of-breath after an hour; quietly:: Shall we come right at the dam from the front entrance?
Maeve Owens: MV: If you're afraid people are in there and you dont want to be seen then I suggest no.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, frowning:: I think the right side's not quite so dense, when we have to turn off, then.
Quantum Catz: JK: I'll take yer word for it, i ain't been up here before
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods, leaving the path about twenty minutes later, where it looks like a good spot, looking rather anxious::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::follows her, not looking anxious, but rather alert::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she follows Libby's lead while her eyes dart around the area half expecting something to jump out at them:::
YarnKittymon: : ::nothing jumps out at them, but they see something about 20 feet to the left, a bit ahead...it could be a mound of dirt, or a person lying on the ground::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::approaches the unknown thing cautiously::: Well, we found something.
YarnKittymon: : ::as they get closer, they see it's a person, every inch of his exposed skin the color of a bruise::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::cringes:: Is he dead?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man doesn't move a bit, and he has a bit of dried blood on his cheek, near his lips::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::hesitantly she reaches one hand down to shake the man::: Hello? Please just be asleep...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::grabs Maeve's arm:: He might have the illness, Maeve - you shouldn't touch 'im
YarnKittymon: : ::the man's body is cold, and there's some darker bruises on his purple skin::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::jumps when he grabs her, backing away::: Dont scare me like that! Geesh...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::is pale, and speaks rather weakly:: Do we bury him?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::takes a few calming breaths before glancing over at Libby::: I think we should leave him. Jack's right, he might have had the flu. Besides, if anyone is looking for him they may never find him.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::frowning:: Come on, let's keep going - i guess you weren't being crazy after all, Libby
YarnKittymon: LB: ::suddenly hugs Jack, pressing her head against his chest, tears in her eyes::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::rests his hand on the back of her head:: It's okay...come on...maybe this means we can fix this somehow
Maeve Owens: MV: :::rocks back and forth on her heels waiting for the moment to pass so they can be on their way:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::pulls back from Jack, and wipes her eyes with a handkerchief; nods, and walks back around; softly:: We probably can't approach from too far away anyway; the river will be in the way, so we can't just circle around...
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve suddenly sees a deep green cloak moving in the distance, its owner darting behind a tree::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::her eyes widen a little and she stops fidgeting:: Um guys, we have company.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::tenses, turning to look in the direction Maeve is::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::whispers::: He's behind the tree. He's wearing a green cloak. Should we corner him?
YarnKittymon: : ::there's nothing to see now, aside from the tiniest bit of movement from the corner of the cloak fluttering in the wind and peeking out from behind the tree; at this distance, it could almost just as well be a branch::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::softly:: He probably knows we're here
Maeve Owens: MV: Looks to me more like he's been following us.
YarnKittymon:
LB: ::very softly:: There's a crossbow in my bag...
Maeve Owens: MV: Great, lets go see what he knows. :::heads off in the cloaked figures direction:::
YarnKittymon:
: ::the man steps out from behind the tree when Maeve approaches; he has very wild gray hair and a beard equally mussed; his bright blue eyes are shining, and he smiles:: Greetings.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::folds his arms and moves closer, more to be closer to help Maeve than to see the guy; looking to see if he has any obvious weapons on him::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she smiles back::: Hello. Care to explain why it is that you are following us?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::stays with Jack, just afraid of being alone::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man grins:: Care to explain why you're trespassing on my land?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::grins back at him::: Care to explain then why there is a dead man on your land?
YarnKittymon: : ::still smiling:: I think there'll be another soon, and two women.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::darkly:: You seem rather confident about that
YarnKittymon: : ::the man doesn't reply; he's still smiling, though not as widely::
Maeve Owens: MV: So are you just going to stand there and smile all day or are you going to give us a reason to lay you down beside your dead body?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man puts his hands up near his chest, not unlike a prayer; this shifts his robe so they can see there's no weapons underneath; he starts murmuring some words, arranging his fingers as he does so::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::looks over at the other two with a grim expression::: This doesnt look good. Maybe we should just run?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::frowns:: What the hell is he doin?
Maeve Owens: MV: Looks like he is saying a spell. Are there any sorcerers left in this world? Cause if there are and he is one, a crossbow and some fireballs arent going to help.
YarnKittymon: : ::Jack suddenly feels tired and feverish, not so sick he's incapacitated, but not at all well::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::rubs at his arms, blinking weakly like his head's heavy and stumbles back a step::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::glances back at Jack; grabs him, her voice shaking:: Are you all right?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she glances at Jack::: Yeah, this definitely cant be good.
YarnKittymon: : ::the stranger puts his hands down, smiling:: If you leave him now you might not catch it, you know.
Maeve Owens: MV: You think if we kill him it might just all go away?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::rubs his eyes and forces himself to remain standing, though he looks rather flushed; glares at the man:: What the hell did you do?
YarnKittymon: : I'm tired of being an outcast, and tired of watching what *you've* done to the land. Do you know how much dirtier the water is since you've come? How many fish have died in that waterwheel? The island was never meant to be this way, and I'm going to fix it.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::frowns::: Who are you?
YarnKittymon: MI: ::seriously:: My name is Michael Farington, though I doubt it will matter much to you.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::coughs:: This is insane - yer wanting people ill for the sake of a few fish?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::pulls her crossbow out of her bag, glaring fiercely at Michael:: Make him better!
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances over at Libby and then back to Michael. A fireball forms in her hand:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::just raises his eyebrows, still smiling::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::his muscles clearly tense as he forces himself to stay upright:: You're a complete nutter, you know that? Who the hell put you in charge of the island?
YarnKittymon: MI: When no one else wants you, you have to make your own way in life.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::with mock sympathy::: Awe, poor little guy.
Quantum Catz: JK: Y'ain't the only person who's ever- ::coughs:: Who's ever got a bad deal in life, y'know
YarnKittymon: MI: ::narrows his eyes:: I don't want everything...I just want things back to the way they *should* be.
Maeve Owens: MV: You're one of those people who are against progress arent you?
YarnKittymon: MI: ::sarcastically:: Is it that obvious?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::nods::: You know you should try to open your mind to new things. I hear there is suppose be some really neat developements in the entertainment area. Like a box that plays moving pictures with sounds and stuff. :::grins:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::just frowns::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shoots her crossbow bolt at the man::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::her mouth falls open slightly and she tenses, watching the man:::
YarnKittymon: : ::the bolt hits the man right in the chest, and then bounces off, as smoothly as if he'd been made of metal::
Maeve Owens: MV: Oh now that really doesnt look good. :::she throws her fireball at him:::
YarnKittymon: : ::the fireball hits the man and bounces back at Maeve at nearly the same speed she threw it at::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::her arms come up to shield her. The fireball flares for a moment but quickly dies leaving not one mark on skin::: Okay, now I think we should run. :::glances over at Libby and Jack:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grabs Jack's hand; softly:: Can you run?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::a sheen of sweat has covered his face; he doesn't look too fit to run:: You two shouldn't stick with me right now. ::pulls his hand away:: I don't want you getting ill too
Maeve Owens: MV: :::whispers to them::: Then maybe we should come up with a plan B.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looking rather frightened; whispers:: I'd still rather retreat. ::to Jack:: And we're not just *leaving* you with him. Come on.
Maeve Owens: MV: Alright then we're sticking with plan A. Between the two of us we should be able to get him out of here.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::snaps:: I don't help to walk. But i ain't letting you two get ill
YarnKittymon: MI: ::just watches them, not moving, a smirk on his face::
YarnKittymon: LB: If that fella gets his way we're *all* gonna be dead in six months anyway, Jack!
Quantum Catz: JK: ::glares at the man:: I hope yer happy with yerself when there ain't anyone but you left in this goddamned island
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she stays quiet, chewing nervously on her bottum lip:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::still with a self-assured smile:: I won't be alone. I'll have my children, after all.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::rather loudly:: Come *on,* Jack. Maybe the medicine back in Marquis will help you.
Quantum Catz: JK: What if your children get ill? ::glances at Libby:: And i ain't going back to Marquis - i could mae someone there ill
YarnKittymon: MI: You think I haven't protected them?
Maeve Owens: MV: Are you planning to save some people? Cause once your family dies out there wont be anyone left to look over this island. Wouldnt it be easier to just get rid of the technology than kill a bunch of people who dont even know why they are dying,
YarnKittymon: MI: ::looks at Maeve, then puts his hands together, murmuring a couple words; sparks develop around his hands:: Leave me.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::smirks::: I don't take orders.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sharply, because she's afraid:: Maeve, don't! Let's just get back!
YarnKittymon: MI: ::suddenly lets the sparks on his hands die out, looking levelly at Maeve:: Maybe plague this time...
Maeve Owens: MV: Geesh, you ask one question these days and someone unleashes a plague. Whats this world coming to?
YarnKittymon: MI: ::grins:: If you saw my other work around here, you might already have it, you know.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::her eyes narrow at him::: Did you even try going about this another way? Because I think we all would have heard about this crusade of yours if you had. I'm sure theres more people on this island that share your hatred for
Maeve Owens: technology and that watermill.
YarnKittymon: MI: ::murmurs a few more words, and suddenly he's gone and the forest around them seems to have shifted::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::rubs his eyes, coughing:: Am i going delirious too or did the forest just shift?
Maeve Owens: MV: Nope. It shifted.
YarnKittymon: LB: Either the trees moved, or we did...::pauses; suddenly:: You're not any worse, Jack? I didn't send us forward in time?
Quantum Catz: JK: Well i can still stand up - that's always a good sign
Maeve Owens: MV: We need a plan. What kills someone who cant be hurt by anything?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Not fire or shooting, apparently.
YarnKittymon: : ::though the sky above them is clear, Maeve suddenly feels a warm drop of something wet fall on the back of her neck::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she jumps, her hand going to her neck to feel where the drop hit her. She glances up at the sky.::
YarnKittymon: : ::she sees, tied in the tree above her, a rather sick looking young man with auburn color hair; his eyes are open and only slowly and occasionally blink, and his mouth is hanging open, with a bit of drool hanging down::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::She quickly moves from underneath the man, her eyes round and filled with horror.::: Um, guys, look up.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::follows Maeve's gaze; cringes; softly:: He's still alive...
Maeve Owens: MV: Should we get him down?
Quantum Catz: JK: Maybe i should ::moves slowly and rather weakly towards the tree trunk:: It'll give you two less chance of gettin ill
YarnKittymon: LB: ::hesitates; softly:: Jack, be careful.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::shakes her head::: No, no way. You're too weak. You'll never make it up there! I'll go.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::sharply:: I can do it ::starts to climb the tree, although it's clear he's making a great psychological effort to force his body to keep going::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Jack...
Maeve Owens: MV: :::follows him to the trunk::: Jack! For god sakes getting yourself killed isn't going to help matters. Besides how do you plan to get him down?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man in the tree doesn't move at all as Jack draws nearer::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::mutters:: Come on, mate - if you don't snap out of this i'll just untie you and let you fall
YarnKittymon: : ::the man still doesn't move a bit::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::suddenly reaches into her satchel and pulls out a blanket; hands two corners to Maeve:: Maybe we can catch one of 'em if they fall.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::takes the two corners from her::: Maybe he should just let him fall. It might be easier if we caught him then maybe Jack will make it back down in one piece.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::reaches out to touch the guy's face:: Come on, mate
YarnKittymon: : ::the man cringes when Jack touches his face, but still doesn't move::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::yells up to Jack:: Just untie him; we'll catch him.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::glances down at Libby for a moment and then tries one more time to wake the man up, shaking his shoulder:: Come on, hep me out here
YarnKittymon: : ::the man doesn't react, but Jack feels something stiff under the man's shirt, like a piece of cardboard or something::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man is wearing a loose, light tunic and leather pants, both a little dirty::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::reaches for the cardboard like object curiosity getting the better of him::
YarnKittymon: : ::it's a piece of stiff paper with two hands drawn on it, in a position not unlike Michael seemed to be fond of, with the letters "Kakil chir" written underneath::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::squints up at Jack::: Whats taking so long?
YarnKittymon: LB: Are you all right?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::mutters:: Yeah, fine ::stuffs the paper in his pocket and starts untying the man:: He ain't waking up so i guess you'll have to catch him
Maeve Owens: MV: :::tightens her grip on the blanket::: I'm ready.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::does the same:: Me too.
YarnKittymon: : ::the knots are quite simple::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::unties the knots, though he coughs as he does so, and he tries to keep at least a sight hold on th eman so tht he doesn't just suddenly drop when the rope's gone::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man's only tied by three lines, and weighs very heavily on Jack when he's untied::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::winces:: Jack just let him drop before you lose your grip and fall with him!
Quantum Catz: JK: :mutters:: I'm going to ::moves the man as much as he can out of the way of any branches and then lets hinm fall down into the awaiting blanket::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::barely manages to hold onto the blanket, but she does it, and then sets the man down; looks up at Jack:: Now climb down, OK?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::pulls the blanket out from under the guy and prepares herself to catch Jack should he fall:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grabs the other end:: You'd better not fall, Jack; we're not *that* strong!
Quantum Catz: JK: Yeah, gimme a sec ::pauses, looking tired, and then slowly makes his way back down the tree, leaning against it wearily as soon as his feet are on the ground::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sternly, though it's pretty obvious she's afraid:: You need to rest now. Come on; lay down a little bit.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances down at the man::: Now what do we do with him?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man still hasn't moved from his position, face-down on the ground::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::snaps:: I ain't lyin down - i didn't get through life by takin a break in the middle o things ::rubs his eyes and forces himself to straighten up:: The guy dn't seem t heathy anyway - maybe you sould't get too close
Maeve Owens: MV: He already drooled on me how much closer can I get to that? Besides we shouldnt leave him face down. :::reaches out to nudge him on his back:::
YarnKittymon: : ::at first glance, it looks like the man's got some kind of disease, but a second look shows it's just freckles, but he still doesn't move::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: If he won't wake up, what can we do?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::shrugs:: I found this on him ::pulls out the piece of paper and hands it to Libby::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::half jokingly::: Wrap him in the blanket and drag him along with us?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::takes the piece of paper, motioning to Maeve to look too:: Well, where are we *going*? We don't even know where or *when* we are.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::walks to Libby's side and peers down at the note::: Anyone know what that word means?
YarnKittymon: LB: Not English. Maybe it's some kind of spell?
Maeve Owens: MV: Perhaps, but is it a good one or a bad one? Our plague man might have planted it.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: I don't see how we could make things *worse*.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::frowns::: If we can even get it to work.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::coughs:: Well you could get yourselves sick but you don't seem to be makin much effort to stop that anyway
YarnKittymon: LB: But what if it makes you better? ::pauses briefly, then, determined:: You go off about forty yards, Maeve...I'll try it over here with Jack and this fella and see what happens.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::mutters:: Did anyone ever tell you wat a stubborn-headed idiot you can be at times?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::frowns::: This is too easy. Besides that drawing looks like Michael's trade mark.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smirks at Jack:: I love you too. ::back to Maeve:: Do you have any *better* ideas?
Maeve Owens: MV: No. ::sighs:::
Quantum Catz: JK: Why don't i do this *spell* or whatever it is?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Because it's not *your* fault we're in this mess...
Maeve Owens: MV: What makes you think you can even do this spell? You expect to just say Kakil Chir and have it work? :::she pronounces it with some difficulty but says it just how it looks:::
YarnKittymon: : ::nothing happens::
Maeve Owens: MV: Of course the whole hand position might help but none of us our sorcerers. And then what if you have to say it a certain way and if you dont say it the right way the whole world blows up? :::shakes her head:::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::indicates teh man:: Maybe he could do it, if he'd wake up
YarnKittymon: LB: Or at least tell us what it means, if it's his piece of paper...but I don't think he's just going to wake up. ::nudges the man's shoulder with her foot::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::looks over at Libby::: You got any water in that bag? dump it on him. Although I doubt that would work either.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::pulls out a small bottle and pours the stuff on the man's head; the man closes his eyes instinctively against the water, but doesn't respond in any other way::
Maeve Owens: MV: Okay, give the thing to Jack and just let him try. But I'd look at the guy when you say it.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::holds up the paper for Jack:: If you think you're strong enough...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::shrugs:: It can't be that hard - you two jus stay out o' the way in case it's like that thing that guy did on me
Maeve Owens: MV: Well if it is then it should go to the person you are focussing on.
Quantum Catz: JK: I jus' don't want to take any chances
YarnKittymon: LB: ::puts her hand on Jack's shoulder for a moment; softly:: Be careful. ::steps back a couple steps, looking rather worried::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::sighs and steps further out of the way:::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks at the paper for a moment and then sighs and stuffs it in his pocket again, moving his hands to copy the picture and voicing the words on the page::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man on the ground immediately sits up, breathing hard:: About time, isn't it?!
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks completely shocked and ends up falling back against the tree:: What the--?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::laughs in delight and then looks over at Jack::: It worked! Ha. Well whaddya know. You dont have to be a magic user to do a spell. You dont feel any different?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::sighs, standing next to Jack again::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::coughs:: Take me back to smugglin anyday...
Quantum Catz: ((is jack still ill?))
Maeve Owens: MV: Then I guess we should try it on you.
YarnKittymon: ((Yes))
YarnKittymon: : ::the man smirks:: It doesn't take so much to *undo* a spell. ::holds out a hand to Jack:: Thanks. My name's Banrak.
Maeve Owens: MV: You wanna fix him now, eh? Since its your spell?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::looks up and shakes the man's hand:: Jack.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::frowns, shaking his head:: He's not really under a spell like I was, if my father made him sick. That's more of a power.
Quantum Catz: JK: Ain't that just great
Maeve Owens: MV: :::frowns::: I don't suppose you want to tell us how to stop your father would you?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::frowning:: If we got my sisters free too, the lot of us might be able to do something...::looks at Jack, still frowning:: And I can't...*exactly* make you better, but I could help...some...if one of the ladies would let me.
Quantum Catz: JK: What's that mean? I can handle this without you messin them up too]
YarnKittymon: BN: ::suddenly looking rather tired:: We've been trying so hard...Ciama could see who was going to die, Edusa tried to tell everyone so they could change it...and I split up the sicknesses as much as I could, so whoever caught
YarnKittymon: it might get better...
Quantum Catz: JK: But-- ::coughs:: That guy said he'd protected his children - you didn't seem too protected t' me
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances back and forth between the two:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::rolls his eyes:: Well, I can't get sick, anyway. He figures to use us as his eyes and ears so no one can sneak up on him.
Maeve Owens: MV: If you split it up between all three of us would that help even more?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::quietly:: Depends on how quick we stopped my father...it might just kill all three of you, if you had it too long.
Maeve Owens: MV: Oh. Well then just use me before Jack gets to where he cant move. We need to move fast.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::glares at Maeve:: You'll do no such thing, Maeve. You don't even love him. If anyone needs to do it it'll be me.
Quantum Catz: JK: I can handle a bit of a fever - just leave it be, Maeve
Quantum Catz: JK: And you too, Libby
Maeve Owens: MV: No and dont be stubborn Jack. You can barely stand.
Quantum Catz: JK: I can move if i want - i didn't get through jail by bein' weak
YarnKittymon: BN: ::smiling a bit:: Let me know when we're done arguing, and maybe we can find my sisters.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::through gritted teeth:; Let's go then ::moves forward, making visible effort to do so::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: At least lean on me, Jack. I want to know you're there anyway.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::smirks::: Fine, have it your way. But if you get to where you cant even stand then he's splitting the disease up.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::rolls his eyes, not looking too happy, though he reaches for Libby's hand as a minor compromise::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::squeezes Jack's hand, trying to smile at him::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::closes his eyes, concentrating, then starts off in a straight line:: She's maybe a quarter of a mile away; think you can make it?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::sticks close to the two of them in case Libby should need help with Jack:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::not sounding particularly convinced:: We'll be fine.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::gets impatient with their slow progress and runs ahead after a couple minutes; by the time they reach him he's already up the tree and cutting at his sister's bonds with a jeweled dagger, probably not doing the best job of making sure she doesn't fall::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances up at Banrak before looking over to Libby::: Maybe we should pull the sheet out again, just in case.
Quantum Catz: JK: S probly a good idea - he don't seem to be payin much attention to stoppin her from fallin
YarnKittymon: BN: ::cuts the last bond and tries to hold Edusa up, but she seems to be slipping, as he wasn't bright enough to undo the spell before loosing her::
Maeve Owens: MV: Libby! Hurry and pull it out he's losing his grip!
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grabs the sheet out of her satchel, though it's balled up and she has a hard time getting it straightened out::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::loses his grip entirely, though on the up side, he falls down first, so he probably breaks his sister's fall a bit::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::still under the spell, has no way of protecting herself from the fall::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::runs over to check on them:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::is just a little bruised, not badly at all, considering the fall; groans:: Sorry...::puts his hands in the position:: Kakil chir...
Maeve Owens: MV: :::smirks:: Next time try saying the spell before cutting them down.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::sits up, looking rather dazed, though she glares at her brother:: What did you do with your brains while you were stuck in that tree?
YarnKittymon: BN: Hey, if you liked being frozen so much I could do it again.
Maeve Owens: MV: If neither of you are hurt we should move on and leave the arguing for later. :::smiles::: We have people to cure.
Quantum Catz: EU: You probably won't need to since you were seen setting me free
YarnKittymon: BN: He hasn't caught us yet.
Quantum Catz: EU: But he knows we're free now and he must know that we're gonna go get Ciama next
Maeve Owens: MV: Then theres no time to waste. :::offers a hand up:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::looks at his sister, frowning:: We've gotta fight him for real this time...
Quantum Catz: EU: ::takes Maeve's hand and pulls herself up; softly:: Then that's what we'll do...
YarnKittymon: LB: How? We gave it everything we had and didn't put a mark on him!
Maeve Owens: MV: Transfer all the disease into him. :::laughs::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::raises his eyebrows, looking back at Edusa:: Do you think we could?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::tidies her hair up a bit, so that it's tucked away from her face, looking rather sombre:: I don't know...
Quantum Catz: ((do they now spells like their father?))
YarnKittymon: ((Some, but they're pretty draining to do, and Michael knows more, and has a lot more power, because whenever he makes someone sick, he gets a lot of the energy they lose being sick, to use for himself))
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grumbles:: If we could just stop him from protecting himself, I'd shoot him myself.
Maeve Owens: MV: Does he have any weaknesses?
YarnKittymon: BN: If we knew them we would've killed him already, don't you think?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::shrugs::: He's your father...
Quantum Catz: EU: Come on, let's get to Ciama before Father decides to try something to stop us
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods, walking quickly:: What if he's already there?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::not sounding particularly enthusiastic:: I guess we just go at it with whatever we have...
Maeve Owens: MV: We can plan as we walk.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::very softly:: And what if Ciama tries to stop us again?
Maeve Owens: MV: Then we tie her back up again?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Do we know for sure everyone will get better if your father's killed?
Quantum Catz: EU: We'll work something out - anything to stop being trapped like that again - i won't be my father's spy
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods, looking ahead:: You wake her up, Edusa, and I'll climb up but we won't untie her 'til she promises to help, OK?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::softly:: Okay
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks around nervously, afraid Michael will show up again::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::spots his sister and climbs the tree, pulling out his knife::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::moves her hands into position and says softly:: Kakil chir...
Maeve Owens: CI: :::her eyes pop open and she looks around her. She spots her brother in the tree and struggles a bit in her bonds::: Banrak? What have you two done? Father will be furious.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::thwacks his sister on the head:: Are you *still* on his side?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::snaps:: Look what he's doing, Ciama! We can't just let him kill these people
Maeve Owens: CI: ::finches::: Owe! :::glares at him::: How can the two of you be against him! He's our father. Some people may have to die in this battle but in the end its probably for the best
Quantum Catz: EU: Why? Just cos he says it is?
Maeve Owens: CI: :::frowns::: What about what they are doing to this island? Do you guys not care?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::bluntly:: No.
Quantum Catz: EU: Even if we did, there still must be a better way than this
YarnKittymon: LB: ::turns away; sullenly:: Let's just leave her.
Maeve Owens: CI: Why not untie me and we can figure out if there is another way. I dont want everyone to die either but if thats the only way then so be it.
Quantum Catz: EU: We want to stop Father, Ciama - you're either going to help us or you're not
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods silently, fingering his knife::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly, to Jack:: I have a couple aspirin if you want them...
Quantum Catz: JK: ::shakes his hea, although he looks quite a bit worse than he did before:: Doubt aspirin'll help me much
YarnKittymon: LB: ::even quieter:: I'm sorry I dragged you into this.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::shrugs:: Hey, i-- ::coughs:: I walked right into it with me eyes open, ain't no-one's fault but mine
Maeve Owens: CI: I'm- :::her body stills, her gray eyes turning almost black as she stares off into the distance. The images are chaotic but she sees her father first hit her sister with an energy bolt, her lifeless body laying slumped against a
Maeve Owens: tree. She heard her brother cry as he ran forward but he was swept to the side. His fate just as her sisters.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks at Jack for a few moments, as if she's about to say something, but looks up at Ciama when the girl speaks::
Maeve Owens: Then there was her own future which looked bleak in the end of all the turmoil.
YarnKittymon: : ::Edusa and Banrak see just a tiny bit of what Ciama sees in her vision::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::moments later her gray eyes return to their natural color and she fixes her siblings with a grim epxression:::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::looks slightly pale, even though she only saw part of what her sister saw:: Are you with us or against us, Ciama?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::softly, trying to smile:: Looks like either way we don't have to worry about being used again, huh, Edusa?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::weakly:: I guess not
Maeve Owens: CI: ::quietly:: He's become obsessed. He'll stop at nothing. :::she looks down at Edusa, giving her a slight nod::: Untie me.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::cuts the ropes binding one of Ciama's wrists, waiting for her to get ahold of the tree before he cuts the rest::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::grabs onto the branch:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::frees Ciama the rest of the way, then offers to help her down, seeming rather sober::
Maeve Owens: CI: ::accepts her brothers help while looking down at the others below::: You all wouldn't happen to see a nice pair heels down there by any chance? They must have fallen off at some point and they happen to be one of my favorites.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shakes her head; frowning:: I'll get you two new pairs if you get us all out of this safe and sound.
Maeve Owens: CI: Oh? You know of some good shops around here? ::grumbles:: I'm afraid this dress will need to be replaced also with all of the holes it is acquiring climbing down from this tree.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::sighs:: Your dress isn't exactly the most important thing right now
YarnKittymon: LB: I own a shop; I'll replace whatever you've lost, Ciama, but please...::glances back at Jack::...we have to hurry.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::smiles weakly at Liby:: I've got through worse than this
Maeve Owens: CI: Forgive me. My sisters right. :::smiles::: My mind has a tendency to wander sometimes. Do you all have a plan?
Maeve Owens: MV: :::glances at Jack with a knowing smile before quickly turning away:::
YarnKittymon: BN: Not unless we can make him sick instead.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::shakes her head:: He gets energy from the people he makes ill...maybe if there was a way to switch it so people got their energy back and he got their illness...maybe there's a spell...or something...
Quantum Catz: EU: ::sighs:: Maybe it's just stupid to try
YarnKittymon: BN: ::slowly:: At least we could undo some of *his* spells...the protective ones, I mean...::glances back at Libby, Maeve, and Jack::...and maybe they could finish him off...
Maeve Owens: CI: If you transfered some of the illness into him from the others wouldnt they gain back some of their energy and him lose some?
YarnKittymon: BN: I think so...if I could...
Maeve Owens: CI: We'd just need to distract him. Eduras could show him what I saw in the future.
YarnKittymon: BN: But I'll still need to get past his defenses...
Quantum Catz: EU: So we undo some of his protective spells then
YarnKittymon: : ::there's suddenly a blast of lightning or something that strikes a tree branch not far from them::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she flinches, looking around for where the lightning struck:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::jumps::
YarnKittymon: : ::the lightning struck about ten feet to the left of their group::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: He's coming, isn't he?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::winces at the sound, which rings in his ears; backs away a step, looking ill::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::she jumps too, looking around for her father::: Yeah. That had to be him.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::closes her eyes and then looks at Ciama:: If i try to distract him, can you try to break some of his spells on himself?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::glances back at the others:: If we give 'em the hand motions maybe *those* fellas can do it. They already know the words; they freed me.
Maeve Owens: CI: ::she nods in agreement::: Eduras you start as soon as he shows up. Banrack do you think you can make him sick? If you can I can teach them the motions.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods grimly:: I'll try. ::puts his back against a tree trunk; quietly:: It was nice meeting all of you. ::closes his eyes and starts concentrating::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::looks around for her father's mind, to try and concentrate her memory of Ciama's vision on his thoughts::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::softly, his eyes still closed:: Get over here, Jack, please.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::turns to Ciama, putting her hands together as if in prayer::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::moves towards Banrak, altough his head's still ringing from the lighting and he feels rather dizzy::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::turns to face Libby and Maeve, going over the spells to break down his defences with them:::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::reaches out blindly and grabs Jack's arm, still concentrating::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::brings her own hands up:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nods grimly, watching the trees for the first sign of Michael, so she can say the words::
YarnKittymon: : ::Edusa has a hard time reaching her father's mind, as it's still blocked::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::keeps her mind focussed on it though, so that she can reach it as soon as his spells are weakened::
YarnKittymon: : ::they hear a twig snap behind them, Michael's beloved nature, ironically, giving his position away::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::turns back quickly to see Michael, not moving her hands from their position:: Kakil chir!
Maeve Owens: MV: :::whirls around to face the man, her hands are positioned slightly different from Libby's in order to hopefully break a different spell.::: Kakil Chir!
Maeve Owens: CI: :::she turns as well, murmering her own spell, her hands positioned also:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::looks rather startled, and then yells as Edusa's thoughts hit him:: What are you doing?
YarnKittymon: : ::Jack suddenly feels better, though still sick, and more tired than he should be; Banrak's breathing speeds::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::still concentrating on distracting him with Ciama's vision:: This's who your anger's driven you to be
Quantum Catz: JK: ::drops to his knees, raising a hand to lean it against a tree trunk:: God...
YarnKittymon: LB: ::suddenly reaches for her crossbow again:: Try again, Maeve!
Maeve Owens: MV: :::a fireball forms in each hand and she hurls both at the man's head:::
YarnKittymon: : ::the fireballs go out, but they don't bounce off like they might have, and Michael's hair is singed::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::throws a couple more::: I singed him!
YarnKittymon: : ::one briefly catches Michael's robe ablaze before it dies::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::shoots a bolt at Michael, and it actually seems to hit, though he stays standing::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::two more fireballs appear in her hands and she throws one right after the other:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::coughs weakly:: Stop...please...
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she takes a moment to catch her breath, her hands shaking a little.::: If you take away all the sickness you've put on the people of this island we might consider it.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::doesn't ease up her power although she opens her eyes to look at her father::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::looks like he's been through a furnace, and has a crossbow bolt sticking out of his chest; his eyes are wild and look pink in his blackened face::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::as she forces another bolt into place in the crossbow:: How do we know he won't just do it again?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::glances at Ciama; softly:: We don't
YarnKittymon: MI: ::softly:: Please...
Maeve Owens: CI: :::she looks at her sister sadly::: No, we dont know.
Maeve Owens: MV: Have him undo what he did to everyone and then make a binding spell. You can do that cant you?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::slumps down; looks back at Jack; softly:: Are you OK?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::not lowering the crossbow:: A binding spell?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::weakly:: Just peachy, mate. Be right as rain by tomorrow
Maeve Owens: MV: You know, to keep him from using his powers.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::hesitates:: That's something....he never taught us...
Quantum Catz: EU: ::frowns at her father, trying to draw some of his thoughts through to her own mind::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::his mind is almost gripped with terror, but somewhere in the back of it is a slip of paper somewhere under his robes::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::her gaze lingers sadly on her father:::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::hesitates and then moves towards her father::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::sinks to his knees; softly:: Please don't...
Quantum Catz: EU: You haven't left us with much choice - what else are we supposed to do? ::reaches inside his robes for the slip of papaer::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::doesn't stop his daughter::
YarnKittymon: : ::she finds the paper quite easily; it has quite a few strange words written in her father's old-fashioned handwriting::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::looks at the paper and then backs away:: I'm sorry
YarnKittymon: BN: ::has managed to stand next to Ciama; quietly:: What is it?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::hands the paper to her brother; looking away from her siblings:: This'll help us bind his power
Maeve Owens: CI: ::she puts her hand on her brother's arm while glancing over the paper::::
YarnKittymon: : ::Edusa can't fully escape her father's thoughts, which are mostly a plea for them not to, but have an undercurrent that it's a draining spell and they'll need more power than they have::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::fiercely:: First things first; he has to make everyone better!
Quantum Catz: EU: ::hesitates, distracted by her father's thoughts:: But we don't have enough power ourselves for the spell....
Maeve Owens: MV: Can we help?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::softly:: Probably, like Charlie...
YarnKittymon: MI: ::suddenly yells::
YarnKittymon: : ::Jack feels much better now, still rather tired, but his breathing's fine and he doesn't have a cough::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she jumps, her head jerking over to look at Michael:::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::winces as she turns to look at her father::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::she glances over at her father, her grip tightening on her brother's arm:::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::in a very subdued voice:: Do what you're going to do...it's over.
Maeve Owens: MV: How do we know that for sure? :::she glances over at Jack:::
Quantum Catz: JK: ::is slowly standing up, not leaning on the tree anymore::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::looks at her father:: You fixed it all?
YarnKittymon: MI: I did. Look for yourself. I hadn't...hadn't expected this from my flesh and blood...
Maeve Owens: CI: ::softly:: We didn't expect that you would try to kill us either.
YarnKittymon: BN: ::frowns:: Is everyone okay, Edusa?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::hesitates for a moment as her mind reaches out for the different townspeople and then she nods::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::quietly:: Then lets bind his powers. :::looks to her brother:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::chances a glance back at Jack, but doesn't dare turn away from Michael any longer than that; nods::
Maeve Owens: MV: What can we do to help?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods, frowning; uses a stone to weight the paper propped up against a tree branch, so he can read it with the right hand motions; glances back at Maeve:: Are your friends freaks too?
Maeve Owens: MV: Libby is.
YarnKittymon: BN: I need...need to drain your energy...you too, Edusa and Ciama, unless you want to say it.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::looks over at Libby and smirks::: Well, at least this time its for the good of man kind.
Maeve Owens: CI: :::nods::: Go ahead. :::looks to her sister:::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::is looking at her father rather sadly and merely nods again::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::takes Maeve's hand; softly:: For the good of the people we care about...and besides, the store'll go under if we're under quarantine much longer.
YarnKittymon: BN: Make a chain, or two chains, or whatever, and put your hands on my arms.
Maeve Owens: CI: :::her hand is still resting on her brother's arm. With the other she reaches out for Libby's hand::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::takes Ciama's hand, nervously::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::glances back at Jack:: Watch Father so he doesn't run off or something, will you?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::touches her brother's other arm::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::smiles at Libby::: Don't worry, everything will be fine.
YarnKittymon: LB: It barely was the *last* time we tried this.
Quantum Catz: JK: Sure, mate, though he don't look in much of a rush to go anywhere
YarnKittymon: BN: ::sighs, and then closes his eyes, concentrating; then he moves his hands into position and slowly starts reading, careful not to make a mistake, and to change his hand positions at the proper intervals; the longer he speaks, the more tired everyone touching him gets::
YarnKittymon: MI: ::doesn't move or say a word::
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she feels her energy draining and cant help but to focuss on the last time this happened; the feeling all too familiar. She glances at Libby, trying to smile slightly:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::is still grimly watching Michael, but squeezes Maeve's hand pretty hard, trying to take some comfort from it::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::tightes her grip on her brother's arm::
YarnKittymon: : ::finally, Michael starts to glow a faint yellow color, for just a few moments, before it fades::
YarnKittymon: BN: ::lowers his hands, leaning forward against the tree::
Maeve Owens: CI: Did it work?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::looks into her father's mind::
YarnKittymon: : ::Edusa can see a deep sense of shame in her father, along with some people she doesn't know and some rather bloody images::
Quantum Catz: EU: ::winces and stops looking::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::lets go of Maeve's hand and stumbles forward towards Jack::
Maeve Owens: CI: :::softly::: What did you see?
Quantum Catz: JK: ::grabs Libby's arms, looking into her eyes:: Are you alright?
Quantum Catz: EU: ::shrugs:: It doesn't matter
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she watches Libby stumble towards Jack, swaying a little, her arms going out to balance herself::::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks back at Jack, almost ready to cry:: I'm fine. Are you?
YarnKittymon: BN: ::softly:: I guess we'll keep an eye on him for a while...
Quantum Catz: JK: :shrugs and then grins:: Told ye i'd be alright - i just keep on swinging back, me - s never that easy to get rid o' me
Maeve Owens: MV: :::she turns to look at the siblings::: Thank you for your help. You've just saved our friends' lives.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::hugs Jack; softly:: I don't *want* to get rid of you...
YarnKittymon: BN: ::smiles weakly:: You came out all this way to see us; it was the least we could do.
Quantum Catz: JK: ::hugs her back::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::returns his smile::: Well I guess we should be getting back home. :::glances over at the happy couple::: It was nice meeting you all. To bad it couldnt have been under better circumstances.
YarnKittymon: BN: It's awful late; you won't make it anywhere near Marquis before dark...
Maeve Owens: MV: Oh. Well I guess we'll be walking in the dark. :::laughs:::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::lets go of Jack, wiping her wet eyes:: Are you kids gonna be all right here?
Maeve Owens: CI: :::nods::: We'll be fine.
Quantum Catz: EU: ::shrugs:: We've got each other
YarnKittymon: BN: ::nods:: Don't worry about us. Good luck getting the waterwheel back or whatever that is...
Maeve Owens: MV: :::looks over at Libby::: Then I guess we arent going straight back home then?
YarnKittymon: LB: I'm not a mechanic, Maeve. ::looks back at Jack:: You any good at fixing stuff?
Maeve Owens: MV: Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought you were one...
Quantum Catz: JK: Never worked on a dam before, n especially not in the dark
Maeve Owens: MV: I can provide the light. :::grins::
YarnKittymon: LB: I think we've caused enough trouble already, Maeve...I'll be happy if we can sneak back into town without being caught.
Maeve Owens: MV: :::nods::: Well its dark, it shouldnt be that hard. I'm sure they have someone who can fix the wheel, even if it means we're without power for a couple more days. :::frowns::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::takes Jack's hand; softly:: C'mon...I'd be happy to live without lights for two *months* if everyone's really all right.
Quantum Catz: JK: Let's get goin then - the thought of sleep's never been so good as right now
