YarnKittymon: : ::somehow, the stage and costumes for the upcoming play have all been made (though many of the stiches on the costumes are pretty precarious, and there's not many hems)::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::is in the bathroom, powdering her green make-up; although the show doesn't start until the following day, she's working on putting on her costume::
JopDance: jm: ::knocks on Freakshow door::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::nearly sends Daniel to open it, but thinks better; goes to the door herself:: Good morning...
JopDance: jm: Hi, nice makeup.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: No costume yet; I need to wait for the make-up to dry. Come in!
JopDance: jm: ::steps in:: Is the play today?
YarnKittymon: LB: No; tomorrow. But it could benefit from some promotion...it looks like rain, though. ::frowns::
JopDance: jm: Oh? How are you going about it? Posters?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::laughs:: What does it look like? Can I coax you into a costume? You promised to be ån extra, right?
JopDance: jm: I don't remember saying that, but I guess you might convince me if you flatter me enough.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: If you don't mind being a shade of blue, you'd be a lovely Moon Maiden...or there's the Martians, of course. And the regular boring humans.
JopDance: jm: I guess I'll be blue. Less chance that anyone will recognize me.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: The script called for the Moon Maidens to dress like Edwardians, but we hadn't time for that, so they're just plain, sparkling, long dresses. They only come in at the end anyway.
JopDance: jm: That suits me better anyway.
YarnKittymon: LB: You'll need to take off your blouse, then, unless you want its collar turned blue. We'll have to do your face and neck and hands.
JoyfulPaladin: NL: ::waiting outside:: It's me;Niklaus. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help set-up for or to promote the play? I could ask my family to pass out handbills.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::blinks:: Your family?
JopDance: jm: ::is about to reply, but pauses when she sees Nikalus:: Hello
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Yeah:there's my mom and sa number of little brothers. It would help keep the little guys out of trouble.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::blinks again:: Thank you for the offer, but I'm afraid we couldn't really afford to hire anyone else--or the handbills, for that matter.
JoyfulPaladin: NL:: ::toJM:: Hi! ::toLB:: Oh,anything else I can help with?
YarnKittymon: LB: Blue, or green?
JoyfulPaladin: NL:Green,please!
YarnKittymon: LB: ::laughs:: Oh, good, because there's no Moon Men in the play, and I don't think you'd look pretty in a dress. You *were* going to be in the play, right? Even though you can't bend iron in it...?
JoyfulPaladin: NL: I've never acted before but I think I could pull it off. Anyway,I like green!
YarnKittymon: LB: Good. We tailored a costume for you; if Orion returns, you can play a major role; otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to be an extra for now.
YarnKittymon: LB: The costumes are in the back; the Martian ones look rather like a pilot's clothes, with capes. All shiny, of course.
YarnKittymon: LB: Come on, Jasmine; I'll help you with your make-up.
JopDance: jm:: All right. ::follows Libby::
YarnKittymon: DN: ::noses at Niklaus's knee, mrring::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::tells Jasmine to put a coat of white underneath, to make the blue paler, and to keep it from adhering to her skin after the show--though the brightness of her own green make-up indicates she hasn't done that on herself::
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Hi Daniel! Are you gonna be in the play too?
YarnKittymon: DN: ::mrrs again:: Libby says I can't.
JopDance: jm: ::dutifully applies the white powder:: I hope this works; I'd hate to be blue for the rest of my life.
YarnKittymon: LB: Oh, don't worry; it would come off in a week or so.
JopDance: jm: ::makes a face:: I'd be fired long before that.
YarnKittymon: LB: Well, with luck, perhaps you could make a living here for the remainder of the summer.
JoyfulPaladin: NL:Oh. So,how's your day been?
YarnKittymon: DN: Boring. I dunno where Becky went.
JopDance: jm: ::smiles:: That would be nice.
JoyfulPaladin: NL:Hmm,haven't seen her. You two are good buddies, huh?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles weakly:: But I tried my best and we didn't have any luck before; I don't know why that would change now. I'm just hoping to make a few dollars.
YarnKittymon: DN: Yeah. Are you gonna be green?
JoyfulPaladin: NL:I sure am! ::smiles::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::goes back to get a costume for Jasmine, and her own; motions to a rather large jumpsuit:: That one's yours.
JopDance: jm: You never know, our luck might change. The play might even be applauded for its...beautiful story and touching acting, be picked up by a big producer, and have a long run on Broadway where all the rich people in the world will stand in long lines to see it.
JopDance: jm: ::picks up jumpsuit and looks it over:: Doesn't look like something a moon maiden would wear.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::laughs, and hugs Jasmine at her Broadway comment, keeping her hands and face away from Jasmine's clothes if she can help it:: You're wonderful.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::picks up a light silver dress with long, long sleeves, a high waist, and a skirt that trails the floor:: Is this better?
JopDance: jm: ::laughs too:: Thank you. ::looks at dress appreciativly:: That *is* better. ::reaches for the hanger::
YarnKittymon: LB: Just take care to powder your make-up well before you put it on. I'm sure all the costumes will be turned blue and green soon enough, but I'd just as soon it take a while.
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Know any games?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks up at Niklaus:: How about apply your make-up?
JopDance: jm: ::absently:: Yes ma'am. ::twirls the dress around for a second so that she can watch it sparkle in the light then heads for the bathroom::
JoyfulPaladin: NL:Yes ma'am! ::hurriedly stops talking to DN and gets to work on makeup::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::picks up a jumpsuit for herself, and an antenna-helmet, and goes back to her bedroom to put them on::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::when she's done, helps Niklaus transform himself into a Martian as well::
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Thanks! Makeup isn't exactly natural to me.
JopDance: jm: ::comes out of the bathroom after a long while with a big smile on her face. Twirls to show off her dress:: How do I look?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::helps Niklaus with his make-up; since she's already green, she doesn't mind getting more green on her hands--grins at Jasmine:: Just beautiful. I wish you'd come earlier; I'd have done your hair up...
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Hey,a regular space princess!
JopDance: jm: ::laughs:: Thank you! ::places a hand on her hair:: What do you think I should do with it? I guess I could pin it up as usual.
JoyfulPaladin: NL:UP Might keep it out of the way of scenery and the like.
YarnKittymon:
LB: Well, I had envisioned doing it like my mom did fifteen or twenty years ago...she used to be rather beautiful, too.
JopDance: jm: How did you mom do hers?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: Oh, not unlike a Gibson Girl, really.
YarnKittymon: (( http://www.ibiscom.com/gibson.htm ))
JopDance: jm: ::smiles:: That sounds wonderful.
YarnKittymon: LB: Well, perhaps I could wear gloves and give it a try...
JopDance: jm: Do you think you'll have time? Weren't you planning on plastering posters on walls today?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks at Jasmine, a little puzzled:: No; I'd planned to go out and interact with the patrons of Coney Island and ask them to return to see us tomorrow.
JoyfulPaladin:
NL:Wow! This is gonna be so much fun!
YarnKittymon: LB: I truly wish Orion was here; you'd have the script memorized if he were.
JopDance: jm: Oh, that's a much better idea. You might get Erin to make some posters though, to reinforce it.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles weakly:: I suppose...I just hate to do it, for fear it might be a waste of time; with our luck, we'll be shut down before the end of the month.
YarnKittymon: LB: But then, that's just a superstition, isn't it? Which is why we aren't starting the show today, to be sure.
JopDance: jm: ::shrugs:: Better safe then sorry.
JoyfulPaladin: NL: I kinda umm,get supersticious about...everything.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks at Niklaus strangely:: Such as...?
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Broken mirros,sspilling salt,etc.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: Then you and Orion would get on wonderfully. Did you meet him?
JoyfulPaladin: NL: ::embarrassed:: No. Not yet.
YarnKittymon: LB: Well, never mind that. ::sits Jasmine down and starts work on her hair, putting it up pretty simply::
YarnKittymon: LB: : ::doesn't seem fully satisfied with the end product:: Perhaps you can wear curlers for the next month or two; that will help.
JopDance: jm: Sure. My hair could use a change anyway.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::grins:: Splendid. We couldn't find many actresses with long hair anyway, so you'll be a big help. Perhaps you'd like to play their queen today?
JopDance: jm: ::smiles:: I'd love to. I've always dreamed of being royalty.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::fetches the tiara and puts it gently on Jasmine's hair:: You're...stunning, you really are. Do you think you can play the role?
JopDance: jm: ::timidly reaches up to touch the tiara:: I can try.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::tells them their respective names--or the names of their characters, anyway::
YarnKittymon: LB: And I, of course, am Rlenthial the Martian Maiden! ::laughs:: Try to remember it.
JoyfulPaladin: NL:Who could with a name like that!::smiles::
JopDance: jm: ::laughs:: That's perfect. Should we go out now?
YarnKittymon: LB: If you're ready. Let's go out the back door. ::slips out that way::
JopDance: jm: ::follows her, trying to glide the way she imagines a queen would walk::
JoyfulPaladin: NL: ::follows eager to pester the tourists in his costume::
YarnKittymon: : ::they get more than a few stares from the many passers-by; Libby happily waves to the children who stare, and grins bewitchingly at all of the handsome young men::
YarnKittymon: : ::quite a few people laugh at Libby and Niklaus as well, though Jasmine's lighter blue skin and beautiful dress (not to mention her natural beauty) just mostly dazzle the crowd::
YarnKittymon: LB: ::loudly:: These Earth Men are all *very* pleasing to the eyes...
JopDance: : ::man steps out from crowd:: What is this? A parade? I think you're a few elephants short.
JoyfulPaladin: Tall man in straw hat: Gawrsh!
YarnKittymon: LB: ::looks eagerly at the first man:: An elephant--what is that exactly? Some sort of vehicle?
JopDance: : ::begins to explain:: Well, sort of; some people do ride...::stops and laughs:: Hey, you're pretty good at this.
YarnKittymon: : ::a little girl looks up at Niklaus with wide eyes, looking as though she's going to cry::
JoyfulPaladin: ((Can Charles Forte show up? I think he lived in N.Y.C. at the time.))
JoyfulPaladin: Little boy:Wow! Are you from the moon?
YarnKittymon: ((Who is he? ^^;;;))
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles:: I'm not quite sure what you mean, sir, but I'll always take a compliment.
JoyfulPaladin: ((early investigator of paranormalwrote alot of books about hailing frogs and things))
JoyfulPaladin: NK: Don't cry! I'm just a tubby guy in make up and funny clothes.
JopDance: : ::smiles:: A pretty lady always deserves a compliment. So uh...you're not from around here?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::steps on Niklaus's foot, hard, for breaking character, but smiles at the other man:: No; my name is Rlenthial and I hail from the Red Planet.
JoyfulPaladin: hat man: Nope. Uh;no miss.::crinkles hat in hands:: I just came from the farm with my two buddies.
JoyfulPaladin: NK: Ouch!
YarnKittymon: ((Go ahead if you'd like))
YarnKittymon: : ::the girl laughs at Niklaus's pain, taking it as slapstick comedy::
YarnKittymon: : ::there's half a dozen young men just staring at Jasmine, knowing deep down that she's just an actress in a costume, but finding her enchanting nonetheless::
JoyfulPaladin: NK: ::attempts his first pratt fall::
YarnKittymon: : ::several people, mostly younger, laugh::
JopDance: : Oh, that would be Mars wouldn't it...::struggles to pronounce name:: Rlenthial?
JoyfulPaladin: CF: Wait'll they hear about this at the library!
YarnKittymon: LB: ::corrects his pronunciation--though she just made it up, herself:: And your name would be...?
JopDance: jm: ::is a little uncomfortable with all of the attention, but tries hard to keep in character; speaks in a cool voice:: So these are Earth men. ::smirks:: You look worse then I expected.
JopDance: : ::smiles:: The name's Gregory.
YarnKittymon: : ::the men watching Jasmine groan, laughing; one jokes:: Then what are you doing *here*?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles at the man:: Greg...r...now *that's* a difficult name!
JoyfulPaladin: CF:Charles Fort.I'm back from England visiting friends. I'm thinking about moving back to the states. So are you in a performing group? You wouldn't know any clairvoiiiyants would you?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smirks:: No, but if you could hum a few bars...
JopDance: jm: It wasn't my choice; I'm afraid I've been stranded here.
JopDance: gy: ::laughs:: Not as hard as yours.
YarnKittymon: : ::the men around Jasmine make several suggestions, one offering to show her around town, and another hoping to take her back home in an airplane::
JoyfulPaladin: NK: Starts yammering to kids about life on Mars while rubbing his sore bottom::
JopDance: jm: ::frowns:: Airplane? What on Red Planet is that?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::to Gregory, still smiling:: I guess it's all a matter of perception. Please promise you'll come visit tomorrow...?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man laughs:: It's a machine that takes you into the air. Haven't you heard of Lindbergh? ::belatedly adds:: M'lady?
JopDance: gy: ::smiles goofily:: I'd love to Rlenthial.
JoyfulPaladin: CF: ::Wamders off to look for mystic acts::
JopDance: : ::little girl walks up to Nikalus:: Do you have a spaceship?
JoyfulPaladin: NL: Oh sure! We have a rocket hidden under sand. We put it there just last night.
YarnKittymon: LB: ::motions to the Freak Show building, which has a banner reading "Not In My Backyard" hanging where the "Libby's Freak Show" sign had been:: My people are camped out in there, rather roughly, I'm afraid.
YarnKittymon: LB: But we re-enact our arrival, in the hopes to get enough *mrinfn* to get home.
JopDance: jm: Lind-who? Anyway, it doesn't much matter. I don't want to go into the air. I want to go into outer space.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man smiles:: I'd fly you to the moon.
JopDance: gy: ::sympathetically:: That's terrible. All those Marsians hidden in that small place. I'm only sorry I don't have any *mrinfn*
JopDance: : ::girls eyes go wide:: A rocket! Can I have a ride in it?
YarnKittymon: LB: ::smiles slightly:: I'm told we can exchange what you call money, to get some...
JoyfulPaladin: NL: ::hoping not to be stepped on again::Yeah, *mrinfn*! Oh,umm,no..,it's out of...gas. But I'll give you a horsey ride if you want.
JopDance: : ::the girl, who's a little overweight, jumps on Nikalus's back and kicks him in the stomach to get him to run:: Giddyup!
JoyfulPaladin: NL: ::rides the girl around neighing and winnying::
