YarnKittymon: TY: ::is still stuck in bed, though he's not feeling too bad; though they haven't told him, he's guessed the doctors are worried about the wounds on his abdomen; if he nicked a kidney, they wouldn't have the technology to keep him from getting a massive infection, or the medicine to make him recover--though hs stays low-key and doesn't mention his concerns::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::was rather concussed from hitting her head and spent the first night in the hospital feeling rather ill and confused. When she woke up in the morning though, the sight and smells of the hospital were actually rather frightening to her - she kept expecting them to start hurting her::
Quantum Catz: ((will i just keep going and have her leave or d'u wanna toss a doctor or something in there to make her worse :P))
YarnKittymon: ((Awww...yeah, I think I'll be meaner ^_^;;; ))
YarnKittymon: : ::a nurse comes in to check on Becky, smiling cheerfully:: Good morning. How are you feeling?
YarnKittymon: ((I am pure evil. ^_-))
Quantum Catz: ((lol))
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly; looking rather pale:: Horrible
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse looks rather surprised:: We thought you were healing well. Are you in pain?
Quantum Catz: BM: No
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse frowns, then brightens:: Your boy-friend is fine, and it looks like your girl-friend is going to pull through just fine as well.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: That's good
YarnKittymon: : Is there anything I can do to help you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shakes her head slightly, looking like she'd rather be anywhere but there::
YarnKittymon: : You seem to be recovering; you'll probably be free to go tomorrow.
Quantum Catz: BM: What about Maeve and Toby?
YarnKittymon: : They'll be better soon enough. If you sit up straight you can see Maeve for yourself; she's just at the end of the ward.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::covers her eyes with her hands for a moment, to try and block out the memory of those dreams:: 'S okay...i'm sure she's fine
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse smiles:: She is. You just rest up and you'll be out of here in no time, all right?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::doesn't reply::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse looks at Becky a moment longer, then moves on to the other patients::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::to herself:: I don't think i can stand being in here till tomorrow
YarnKittymon: : ::no one seems to hear or care::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks around for her clothes::
YarnKittymon: : ::there is a canvas bag at the foot of her bed, and Becky's clothes are inside::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::gets out of her bed, rather slowly as at first the movement makes her head spin::
YarnKittymon: : ::a rather old woman in the bed next to Becky watches her silently, with rather blank eyes; the young woman on Becky's other side is sleeping::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::grabs the curtain for her bed area and pulls it round so she can get changed::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse is still in the room, and when she hears the noise of the curtains being drawn, she quickly walks back towards Becky, concerned::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::starts to pull her clothes out of the bag::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse gets to Becky's bed and draws the curtain:: Get back in bed!
Quantum Catz: BM: ::doesn't look round:: No, i'm going for a walk - i hate this place
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse shakes her head:: You're not well yet. You'll hurt yourself!
Quantum Catz: BM: If i stay in here much longer you'll be admitting me to the psychiatric ward by tomorrow - and what exactly do you think i'm going to do to myself going for a walk?
YarnKittymon: : You're still dazed, from the crash!
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: I don't care
YarnKittymon: : And you haven't paid your bill yet!
Quantum Catz: BM: ::coldly:: Toby can pay it - and i'll be back later anyway
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse starts to say something, but someone on the far side of the wing screams, and the nurse has to go see to her instead::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::pulls the curtain closed again and changes back into her clothes then heads for the door, glancing for a moment at Maeve but not stopping::
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse is too pre-occupied to see, and Becky escapes::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::has no idea where the exit is and doesn't feel up to looking in case the nurse comes looking for her, so as soon as she's alone she teleports out of the hospital to appear standing somewhere outside of it::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy is sitting on a bench outside, and sees Becky appear; gasps::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::glares for a moment at Mercy and then starts to walk away:: Not one word
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy looks down; softly:: Two, then. I'm sorry. For everything.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs and stops walking:: That was four. And it wasn't your fault anyway, you've got nothing to be sorry for
YarnKittymon: : ::still softly:: She's my mom. She won't...won't bother you again, I don't think...she's...::cringes, looking like she's about to cry::...put away...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::turns around:: I'm sorry...where's the rest of your family? Are they coming to get you?
YarnKittymon: : They don't know...I have to walk home and tell them, but I kind of wanted to talk to one of you first...apo...apol...say sorry for Mom.
Quantum Catz: BM: You didn't have to do that ::hesitates:: You shouldn't go walking about on your own - i'll go with you if you want
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy smiles a little, then looks down again, shaking her head:: You don't have to; no one'll bother me. I don't think you really want to see any more of me and my family...do you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs:: I just wanted to get away from the hospital
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy stands, then starts walking the opposite direction Becky was headed::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::watches her walk for a moment and then sighs and quickly catches up with the girl::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy smiles weakly at Becky:: Thank you.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs:: I guess it's better than just aimlessly walking about town
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy shrugs too:: Maybe. The rest of my family won't hurt you.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: long as they can't do any more mind tricks
YarnKittymon: : None of 'em can do anything, 'cept me and Mom. And I can't...hurt anyone...::in a timid voice::...I don't think...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly at Mercy:: Well even if you can't it probably doesn't matter anyway - you don't seem like the kind of person who'd enjoy hurting other people
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy gasps, then looks down:: Mommy saw it too...she didn't...didn't want to...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::coldly; without thinking:: Serves her right
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy stops walking, shuddering; tears come to her eyes::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::regrets what she just said and looks at Mercy apologetically:: I'm sorry, i shouldn't have said that
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy wipes her eyes, still crying:: I don't think...don't think she'll bother you again...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::puts her hand on Mercy's shoulder, not sure what to say or do:: I hope not
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: Is that...is that what she does? Makes you see the worst thing in the world to her?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: What we saw was our worst memories...and all three of us have some pretty bad ones
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy hugs Becky, still crying; murmurs:: I'm sorry...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::pats Mercy's back rather weakly:: It's okay...they were only dreams
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: My brother...he really died...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: Yeah...well...me and Toby were really tortured but....it didn't happen yesterday...time's supposed to make things easier...
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy sighs:: It does...even if it's something that really happened, you learn to live with it...and dreams aren't so scary after you've been awake for a while.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: Yeah...
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy lets go of Becky, and then, after a few monents, continues on, wiping her eyes again::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::walks with her, looking at the ground::
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: Who hurt you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::wearily:: It doesn't matter
YarnKittymon: : But they can't come get you now. ::pauses:: Can they?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::rubs her eyes for a moment:: Only when i'm asleep
YarnKittymon: : Is that their power?
Quantum Catz: BM: No...i just meant....dreams are a hard thing to escape
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: I'm sure there's someone out there who could make you forget....but I wouldn't want to.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: I guess not
YarnKittymon: : ::they've entered the neighborhood of the tenements by now; there's a lot of poorly-dressed people loitering at the soda fountain/drugstore on the corner, but Mercy doesn't act as though that's out of the ordinary::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::isn't paying all that much attention anyway::
YarnKittymon: : ::Mercy stops in front of a four-story brick building, about 50 years old, from the looks of it; softly:: I live here.
Quantum Catz: BM: Will your family be home?
YarnKittymon: : Probably, except for Daddy.
Quantum Catz: BM: Why not him?
YarnKittymon: : It's not Sunday, so he's working.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::nods:: Do you have an older brother or sister then?
YarnKittymon: : ::nods:: Ida'll be home; she's fourteen.
Quantum Catz: BM: And she looks after you and the others?
Quantum Catz: ((is that allowed over there?))
YarnKittymon: ((I don't *think* there were laws about that kind of thing back then, as long as you had someone to watch your kid. But I haven't looked into it. Her parents are there to supervise in theory, and I'm pretty sure 15-year-olds can babysit here today, maybe even younger))
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: When Mark was sick...Daddy wasn't home a lot, and Mommy...so Ida's a good cook and she can mend our clothes when they rip.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: That's...good...i guess
YarnKittymon: : ::takes Becky's hand, but then lets it go; softly:: So I'll just go to them now. Thank you.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitates:: Are you sure?
YarnKittymon: : ::nods; quietly:: Unless you want to meet them.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: I don't know if they'd really like me all that much - considering my feelings towards your mum
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: Okay. Be careful. ::pauses:: Your friend misses you.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::frowns slightly:: Which one?
YarnKittymon: : The boy. I don't remember his name. He was dressed like a girl.
Quantum Catz: BM Toby ::sighs:: He won't be too happy if he knows i left the hospital
YarnKittymon: : ::a little more cheerfully:: Maybe he won't know.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: As long as that nurse didn't tell him ::hesitates:: Are you sure you'll be okay till your dad gets home?
YarnKittymon: : ::nods; softly:: Will you be okay?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs:: I always have been before
YarnKittymon: : Please tell Maeve and...and Toby that I'm sorry and I hope they're all right.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: I will
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: Thank you. ::looks back at Becky for a moment, then goes inside::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::looks up at the building for a moment and then sighs and heads back to the hospital; she doesn't really want to but she really doesn't think Toby'd appreciate finding out that she'd run off::
YarnKittymon: : ::once she turns a corner, a short man, about Becky's height, stops her along the way--he looks older than he is at the moment; his hair is curly and gray, and he has dull blue eyes:: Miss, have you seen a sweet little girl about this high? Blue eyes, light colored hair?
Quantum Catz: BM: Um...yeah...i just walked her home
YarnKittymon: : ::the man's eyes widen, and he grabs Becky's hands impulsively, looking like he's about to cry:: You did? Thank God...God bless you, miss...::realizes his indiscretion belatedly and lets go of Becky::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: That's...that's okay...
YarnKittymon: : Please...is there anything I can do to thank you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shakes her head:: Don't worry about it...although i think you should maybe go see her...there's stuff she should really tell you
YarnKittymon: : ::pales a little:: Is she all right?
Quantum Catz: BM: Yeah, she's fine...um... ::looks uncomfortable:: You should really talk to *her*
YarnKittymon: : ::the man nods:: Thank you for taking care of her...Miss...um...
Quantum Catz: BM: It's Becky...but we probably won't meet again so i guess it doesn't really matter...
YarnKittymon: : You never know. Oswald Freedman. Thank you, Miss Becky, and take care. ::walks past her, back towards the tenement::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly and then starts walking again::
YarnKittymon: : ::no one else bothers Becky on her way back::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitates outside the hospital...a part of her really just wanting to turn around and walk the other way...but then she sighs and goes in to try and find Toby::
YarnKittymon: : ::the men's ward is right across from the women's, so that's probably where Toby is, though Becky wouldn't know without going there or asking someone::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::is really in no mood to talk to the doctors or the nurses, so she just spends a lot of time wandering around and peering in doors and eventually she looks in there::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::has his eyes on the door, and when he sees Becky walk in, his expression brightens, though he doesn't sit up in bed::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: Hey
YarnKittymon: TY: ::smiles a little longer, then frowns a bit:: Where were you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::weakly, guessing that he might well know she disappeared after all:: In bed?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: I didn't make your body so badly that it's subject to disappearing on its own.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: I couldn't stand the hospital - i had to get out
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: I was afraid you wouldn't come back. Maeve's hard enough to find, but I might never see you again, if you didn't.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs and moves over to sit on a chair by Toby's bed:: I couldn't get very far right now anyway
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: It's okay...but promise if you ever leave, that you'll come back soon.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::nods::
YarnKittymon: TY: Because you're the only reason I'm staying around here.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::weakly:: Don't let Maeve hear you say that, it's already hard enough to keep her from leaving every five minutes
YarnKittymon: TY: ::pauses:: I guess even if you were gone, I'd stay around long enough to drag her to the island, though I think I'd just sedate her, throw her in a crate, and send her by train.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::tries not to smirk:: I don't think she'd appreciate that much
YarnKittymon: TY: ::smiling:: I know. Hey, I heard from Christa, or Libby, or whoever you want to call it. I didn't have time to write it down but I caught that Libby and Daniel are both fine, and they miss you.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles rather sadly and folds her arms on the bed, resting her head on them:: I wish i hadn't had to leave them...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::gently touches Becky's hair:: We'll see them soon. I guess I could sedate *you* and ship you in a crate so the time goes faster...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: Just don't put me on the same train as Maeve - she's probably wake up and try to burn it down
YarnKittymon: TY: ::laughs:: You're probably right. ::after a moment:: I know it's no fun for you to be here; you can get a place or something. I'll give you my jewelry; I think I'll need our cash to pay the bill.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: Doesn't matter - i'll manage
YarnKittymon: TY: ::soberly:: No, really...it's okay... As long as I know where you are.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::quietly:: I'd rather be near you and Maeve than on my own somewhere
YarnKittymon: TY: ::touches the back of Becky's neck; smiling, but not speaking::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::hesitantly:: Mercy said her mum's been put away...i walked her home and then i ran into her dad...i felt horrible...i didn't know what to say to him...
YarnKittymon: TY: ::pauses; quietly:: You tried your best. None of it was our fault, not even a little bit.
Quantum Catz: BM: But i still feel bad about it
YarnKittymon: TY: Well...after all this...she could probably use some help.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs and closes her eyes wearily:: I wouldn't wish our memories on anyone
YarnKittymon: TY: She'll get over it, and she'll...she'll...maybe it will help her. She knows better than to just hurt people, now.
Quantum Catz: BM: I guess
YarnKittymon: TY: ::quietly:: Are *you* okay?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::purposely ignoring the real meaning behind Toby's question:: My head's still sore but i don't feel dizzy or ill anymore
YarnKittymon: TY: ::frowning:: Well, that's something...is there anything I can do to help?
Quantum Catz: BM: I'll be fine...the nurse seemed to think i was recovering well until i tried to leave
YarnKittymon: : ::the same nurse comes in to check on the people in Toby's room; she sees Becky; quietly:: Did you enjoy yourself?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::doesn't lift her head:: It was better than staying where i was
YarnKittymon: : ::the nurse goes to Becky; quietly:: If you'll come with me, I'll have a doctor look you over. Perhaps you're well enough to check out after all.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::softly:: I'd rather just stay here...
YarnKittymon: : You can come back at visiting hours.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs but doesn't move:: Just think, one day the world's gonna change and someone like you's going to kill me - isn't the future great?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::quietly:: Becky...
: ::the nurse frowns, then goes over to Becky, taking her shoulder:: You're not feeling well. Come with me.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::shrugs the woman's hand away and stands up:: I'm fine...and i don't want to see a doctor
YarnKittymon: : I really think you should come with me.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sighs:: Can't i just stay here?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::looks at the nurse; softly:: She's just had a rough day. You'd be in a bad mood too.
: ::the nurse looks less than convinced, but after a while, softly says:: I'll ask the doctor. ::walks back to check on the other patients::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::sits down again:: Then the doctor'll probably just come looking for me
YarnKittymon: TY: ::takes Becky's hand; softly:: You can hardly exepct them to let you live in the men's ward, can you?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles weakly:: Probably wouldn't be the first time someone's tried it
YarnKittymon: TY: ::laughs:: I guess I could help you pass for a man, but I don't think you'd like it much, and I know I wouldn't.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::smiles and rests her head on the bed again:: They're probably already worried about our state of mind, considering they brought you in dressed as a woman
YarnKittymon: TY: ::weakly:: First time a hospital gown's been *less* embarrassing than what I *was* wearing. I guess you'll have to go buy me some new clothes before I leave...even if they just come in a plain bag...
Quantum Catz: BM: ::nods, or tries to anyway since she doesn't lift her head:: Sure
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor comes in; he's a young friendly-looking young man, and he smiles warmly at Becky, pulling up a chair next to her:: I'm Doctor Finnegan. Your nurse told me you were mentioning something about the future?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::wryly:: Just a general comment about the state of our society - everyone knows it's all going to hell
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor smiles a little:: First, women showing their knees, then women killers.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::wearily:: Something like that
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor nods; softly:: You go ahead and stay here as long as it helps you, Miss Mitchell, OK?
Quantum Catz: BM: ::actually lifts her head and smiles at the doctor:: Thankyou
YarnKittymon: : ::the doctor smiles warmly at Becky, his face lighting up with her smile:: You're welcome. ::gets up to attend to his other patients, leaving the nurse shaking her head::
Quantum Catz: BM: ::lowers her head again, yawning::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: Thanks for coming back.
Quantum Catz: BM: Why wouldn't i?
YarnKittymon: TY: ::after a moment, quietly, hoping the nurse doesn't hear:: I guess you would. You stayed with Libby, even when you thought it meant...that'd be it for you. So of course you'd come back.
Quantum Catz: BM: I'd never leave...if i did i'd be on my own again ::sighs::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::softly:: I'll never leave you, either.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::squeezes his hand and smiles though she doesn't say anything::
YarnKittymon: TY: We'll get through this okay, and we'll be back with Libby and Daniel again. I promise.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::jokes weakly:: So long as Maeve doesn't get us in anymore trouble anyway
YarnKittymon: TY: ::smiles:: Even if she does. I promise. Okay?
Quantum Catz: BM: Thank you ::stands up and leans over to kiss him::
YarnKittymon: TY: ::flushes, grinning; softly:: And to think, yesterday I was just a man in a dress.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::chuckles then says, teasingly:: Oh yeah...but it was such a great look for you
YarnKittymon: TY: I guess it worked...sort of...even if I don't think I like the black hair much.
Quantum Catz: BM: ::runs a hand through his hair, smiling slightly:: Well the doctors'd notice if it magically changed back so you're stuck with it till they let you out
YarnKittymon: TY: ::smiles up at Becky:: Guess I'll live.
