Alex Story
by Cleo

There he sat in the rocking chair, looking unto the street leading to his Aunt's home, which he lived now.  Still cold and wet, and the sun were hid behind the clouds that drifted by.
"Wonder what time Leslie will get off work today?"

Alex stood up keeping his arm steady, for he had been using it too much lately, and pushing himself. He wanted to see his friends, he didn't want some injuries to keep them from having fun, and he so much enjoys the company of Becky, Erin, Libby, and even Ethan.  He knew he was in the right spot, and for once, he felt very secure.

His thoughts began to wonder to new ones, and thirst came to mind as he stood up slowly. He went inside the home that he never knew was there until the day of the accident, and he meet his Aunt Leslie. He was glad it happened, it was suppose to happen.  Even if it did hurt, and for a moment he didn't know where he was, he was thankful.

He stepped in the kitchen to brew some hot tea, and from his boredom and his curiosity, he began to snoop around the home oh his aunt. He mostly found figures of angels, and old dolls. A lot of which was dusty, he knew his aunt probably never had time to clean working the hours she does, he decided to dust for her. By this he notice the colour the home was in, mostly an old mint colour, with the shaggy carpet the same ill colour. The flours had a white liner, as matching the top ceiling.  There were tables with lamps on them in the hallway, and some books in the walkway, mostly medical.

He walked by his aunt's room to notice one of her lamps were still on and thought to him self. She most of been in a hurry this morning to go to work.

He walked in to turn it off when he saw a Bible on the lamp table, it was open and a verse was underlined with pen. He read.

You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

Psalm 77:14

His blue eyes study the verse for a while, as he flipped thought the pages, gently stopping at pages and reading more verses, till his eyes became wary, and the hours he spent in reading, sleep had finally took him to his aunt's bed, and there he slept, in peace and quiet as the rain fell down, making a tapping sound to the roof.

"Paul wrote in Romans 7:19, 24-25; For What I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing.
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Leslie appeared over Alex with these words.

"Wake up lazy, you probably been sleeping all day!"

Alex sat up to look at her, his eyes fogged over, and his mind still not quit into reality.
He stood once he found him self again, He walked into the hallway looking at the dinner table.

"What, no food?" He said turning back to her.

"Nope, not cooking either, too tired, if you want anything, do it yourself!" She sat on the bed pulling her shoes and stockings off. Her face looked old and tired, and her hair was wet from the rain outside.

"I'll just have leftovers." He started down the hallway. "Hey you want anything?"

"Yeah, I need to eat, how bout that chicken salad from yesterday, we can put that on bread and have a sandwich." She got up and walked after him dragging her feet on the carpet. "I forgot to pick up some milk, so all we have is water."

"That's fine, I don't want something to heavy, and it looks late." He looked out the window to see the darkness. "What time is it?"

Leslie fixed the sandwiches, and put one in front of Alex with a glass of water.
"Oh, its around Nine O'clock." She took a bit of the cold sandwich. "What time did you fall asleep dear?"

"Uh. Six I think." He devoured his sandwich, and stood up. "Hey Aunt Leslie, can I show you my act, I want to see how you like it before I show everyone else it."

"I don't know, I really tired, I might fall asleep watching." She takes a sip of water. Then looks back up at him. "So what kind of act? Or you going to fly?"

Alex stands in the living room, taking his right hand up, but then stops when he hears his aunt yells.

"Not in this house, you are not going to use lightning in this house!" She stood up with her hands on her hips giving Alex what we call the woman look. "Go out side if you going to do that!"

Alex walked to the back yard, watching Leslie from the back porch.  He fell the rain going through his hair, down his neck as he got in his position.

"Now I ask for a volunteer from the audience!" He held out his right hand to Leslie. "Well young lady, care to help me?"

"I don't even got shoes on! Alright, I'm coming." She walked up to him, and got in the position he told her to get in. "If you burn down the house, I'll shave your head, remember that!"

Alex lifted both their right arms in the air, as his wings came out, and from the sky came lightning. The lightning circled them, sending both their hair straight up from the static.

"You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples."
Alex looked down at Leslie, who gave him a smile, and her eyes lit up from the excitement.

"Psalm 77:14!" She said as she looked at the lightning around her.

The lightning stopped, as Alex lowered his right arm. Both of them stood there, drenched from the rain that kept falling on them.
