This is from Venura, and thus, a sidestory that mostly affects Cleo and Julie's characters. To skip this story click here.

Stella Patricks:
Jul 29, 2002 08:19 AM

Driving down the wet road, Alex in the back seat felt very uncomtable, for the fact his ex girlfriend was up front next to her new rich, and handsome boyfriend, Hugo McHenry.
He looked toward the road, woundering, why he was so stupid to get in this kind of situation, why, it olny ment trouble.

Stella turned her gaze to the back.

"So do you know any places to eat?"

Alex smirked, knowing he was going to be sarcassick again.

Hugo McHenry::
Jul 29, 2002 11:28 AM
Hugo smirks. "I'm buying, Alex, so we can go to a real restaurant. Are there any of *those* on Coney, or shall we head to the city?"

Stella Patricks::
Jul 30, 2002 07:02 AM

Alex whispers under his breathe.
"I thought hotdogs were food?"
"Well thank you for paying, I kinda buried all my money in a coffee can, and gave the other to My Auntie."

Stella turned around to look at him.
"I thought you said all your family was killed in a fire!"

Alex totally forgot that he never told Stella anything that happen to him in the past month.
He thens begins telling her how the band broke up, he got kicked out of his apartment, then hit by a car.
Then he told about finding his Aunt Leslie, and how he lives with her now.
But he mentions nothing about the heir of money that he had recieved.

He gave half the Money to Leslie, for all he knew, she put her share in the bank, as for him, he buried his million in a spot only he would know.

"Well Alex, I can't believe you got hit by a car!"Stella's eyes narrowed as she leaned back in the seat. "Thats sad that the band spilt up, you were so great at playing..."

Alex caught up the nerve to speak to Hugo.
"so, Hugo, what do you do for a living, to be all rich n stuff like that?"
Alex crossed his legs, and leaned back,as he looked toward the roof of the car.

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 30, 2002 10:04 AM
"I have my hand in most businesses in town," Hugo says simply. "Nothing you'd understand, of course." Hugo is less than pleased with Stella's reaction to Alex. "Come to think of it, why don't we have lunch at my estate? I'm sure the cook would fix something simple for us. Besides, some of us aren't attired for a formal eating establishment..." He looks pointedly at Alex.

((You never said that he took off his costume--but even if he did, I assume he's not wearing a sports jacket and tie. ^_-))

Alex Indigo::
Jul 30, 2002 12:10 PM
Alex's eye widen as he realized he was in to great of a hurry to change!

"Yeah I guess we could just have...your cook fix us something!" He smiled and played around with his gold scarf. "It must be nice to have your own cook, but don't you ever wounder if you could cook anything better?"

Stella raised an eyebrow. Her expresstion was calm, knowing Hugo was probally mad at her, and she best stay on cool grounds for the rest of the day.

"Heh, someone like you wouldn't understand." She held her head high, and smiles softly.

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 30, 2002 12:31 PM
Hugo laughs. "Why would a grown man want to cook? I have more important things to do with my time. And I would hope that Stella would have better ways to occupy herself than in a hot kitchen." He smiles at her. "But there's no need for us to argue, Alex. And who knows? Perhaps we can find *something* decent for you to wear at my estate." He continues driving, though it's a pretty long trip.

Alex Indigo:
Jul 30, 2002 12:39 PM

Alex nodded his head and yawn.
"Yeah, I suppose, cooking never did to much thrill me, I always burn everthing..."

Stella just laughted under her breathe.
"Why come you never told me you had wings?"

Alex looked down, then out the window, feeling a little car sick.
"Isn't it freaky enough knowing that I can kill both of you with a thought of hitting you with lightning, that you wanted me to also tell you I had wings?" Alex stopped. "I don't like having powers, so I don't care to share them if I have to."

Stella got very quite.

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 30, 2002 03:14 PM

Hugo is a bit frightened at the deadly power comment, but he masks it well, since he's had a clue about Alex's talents for quite some time now. He speaks quietly. "Perhaps a scientist could figure out a way to take your powers from you, if they bother you that much."

Alex Indigo:
Jul 30, 2002 07:04 PM
Alex narrows his eyes, and sits forward.
"I said I didn't like them, but God gave me my talents for a reason, what reason I'm not sure of right now, but one day I will know."

Stella tilts her head to look at Hugo.
"But Alex, aren't you every affarid that one day you might snap, and kill someone? Or hurt someone you love?" Stella folded her hands on her lap. "Were not trying to hurt you Alex, we want to help you."

Alex runs his hand though his hair.
"Thank you though, but I think, I'll keep the way I'am."

Alex Indigo:
Jul 31, 2002 08:12 AM
Alex began to think, what happen if he couldn't controll his powers? He didn't want to see more death, he still feel the guilt of killing his family, even if it was an accident.
But God wouldn't give him something he couldn't control, now he knew, he knew never to drink, take medicine, or anything that would cause him not to think straight.

But what was it like, to be normal.
Alex's flesh was weak.
What would it be like to be normal, to grow up in a family where his father would of loved him, where they would of been alive.
Maybe, he would just see, maybe he would just see how the sciencetist work.

"So, ummm...once they take that power from you, what do they do with it?"
Alex looked out the window.

Stella bit her tougue, looking over at Hugo.
Thinking we have him now.

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 31, 2002 11:52 AM

"If God never gave people things they couldn't handle, there wouldn't be suicides," Hugo says drily. "At any rate, I'm not exactly sure how such a thing would work--if it could be done. But if there are, indeed, many people like you out there, with dangerous abilities..." He shakes his head slightly. "I'm sure the right people could figure out a way to do it in a matter of months, perhaps weeks. After all, the purpose of science is to fix people when there's something wrong with them, right?"

They're finally nearing Hugo's house, a giant building with a large yard, placed in the middle of the city.

Alex Indigo:
Jul 31, 2002 04:25 PM

Alex leaned forward.
"oh my, thats one hell of a big house? I hope you don't live there alone!"

Stella turned her head to look at him.
"I guess your not use to big houses?"

"Well when I was growing up, my dad had a madsion, it was three stories, but we had a big family! They always had parties, and people going in and out." Alex pauses. "I hated it, when I was three I got lost in the actic."

Stella put her hand over her mouth to laugh.
"Lost? ahahah, you have nice lil stories."
She pause. "Then why come you were living on the streets, why don't you go back home?"

Alex looked down.
"I...I burned it down when I was seven." he looked back out the window. "It was an accident..."

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 31, 2002 05:13 PM

Hugo stays silent for a while. "I suppose we'll have lunch without the candles, then," he finally says. He chuckles slightly at his own joke (he's not exactly very sensitive, you know). "At any rate, we've plenty of people coming and going. The gardener, for instance. And of course we have gatherings at least once a month, though I greatly prefer attending parties to hosting them."

Alex Indigo:
Jul 31, 2002 06:45 PM

Alex laughed at his joke. He puts his hand on the seat next to Stella.
"My father would always host them, guess he liked showing off the dog....well thats what Aunt Leslie said anyways!" Alex looks up at the house. "Man, thats big, guess you'll haffta get married and have a dozen kids to fill that up!"
(Alex knows Stella hates kids..ha ha)

Stella just sat there buged eyed. She pushed her hair back, and smacked Alex's hand lightly to let him know she didn't like what he said.

Alex takes another look.
"err..now I look closer maybe two dozens!" Alex sat smiley, hoping he was getting on Stella's nerves.

Hugo McHenry:
Jul 31, 2002 09:13 PM

"It's rude to tease a lady," Hugo says, pulling into the carport. He smiles at Stella. "But given your upbringing, Alex, I wouldn't expect you to have much in the way of manners." He quickly gets out of the car and opens Stella's door for her. Truth be told, he would like very much to both marry and have children, but isn't quite sure if either of those is in his future anytime soon. But of course he won't show those feelings to Alex.

Stella Patricks:
Aug 01, 2002 08:24 AM

Alex got out of the car. His face had a subacid look.
"Yes your right we mustn't tease the ladies." Looks at Stella. "Sorry."

Stella just turned her head slowly to look at him.
"It's okay, I'll probally end up have kids, one day..but just one, and see..but that way off.." Stella hands was twisted her dress.

Alex just looked up.
"Hey it looks like more rain, possibly lightning too." He walked beside Hugo.

"Well I guess we better get inside, that food is not going to quid itself." Alex too a step forward.

"Nice words your using Alex, not bad for someone who only had to second grade education." Stella smirked. "So who taught you that?"

"Well while I was a stow away on the boar coming to America, the only thing to do was read a dictionary." Alex sigh. "I always hated those digbatted tutors my father hired, heheh."

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 10:08 AM

"Right," Hugo says. "Between tutors and nannies, parents hardly have to see their children at all nowadays." He smiles at Stella, then quickly walks into the house. Inside is as lavishly decorated as one would expect. Hugo sends a butler to tell the cook to make lunch, then leads them to the sitting room (I think the same room Stella and Hugo were discussing evil plots in in an earlier thread). He sits down. "It's a shame that living sensibly makes for a less interesting life...but a more profitable one, I'm sure."

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 12:38 PM
Hugo pauses, then goes to the liquor cabinet and pours himself a drink. "Would either of you like one?" (Of course it's illegal to drink in the 1920s, and of course no one seems to care.)

Tourist Aug 01, 2002 01:32 PM
(no seat belts! thats just...errr..I would of die in my car reck if I didn't have an air bag, or a seat belt for that matter.)

Alex looked up, his eyes looked back and forth between Stella and Hugo.
"Oh, no I don't drink."

Stella sat down.
"Oh, but I would like some brandy before dinner."

Alex just looked down.
"It's a shame, I think parents should raised the kids instead of nannies, and tutors. I knew my mother well, but my father was always at the houres races, betting this, and winning that, after awhile, he had his own houres barn."
Alex sat down on the far left, away from Stella leaving room for Hugo in between. "Mother, always loved going to the races, I was just bored."

Stella looked at Alex.
"What was your mothers name again, oh yeah Donna Indigo." Stella looked at the fire place. "hores races, ha, sounds dirty, but fun!"

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 01:49 PM
Hugo pours Stella a drink, then looks at Alex. "It's good that you think parents should raise their own children, since that's what the lower classes have to do. I'm sure your father made lots of money racing--it's a pity he never saw you, I'm sure, but he was doing his job, after all. I'd rather ride them than race them, but to each his own.

"You know, Coney Island used to have nothing but horse racing and gambling on it. Is that what drew you there, Alex?"

Tourist Aug 01, 2002 02:05 PM
Alex looks up at Hugo.
"The races? No this is where the boat let me off when I was seven hahah, I just stay cause there was a lot of people, and I met the band, and when I was sixteen met Stella." Alex looks at Stella. "Quite funny too, how'd we met."

"He looked like a drawn rat sitting on the side of the road, I would of kept going but unlucky me, my tire blew out, and he helped changed it."
Stella smirked."

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 02:16 PM
"Unlucky indeed," Hugo says quietly. "But then, any stranger would want to help a pretty thing such as yourself." He sips a bit of his brandy, frowning. He's not a horrible conversationalist, but he doesn't have any questions to ask Stella, and wants to keep Alex from talking about himself as much as possible; he hates to hear of shared memories between him and Stella.

Tourist Aug 01, 2002 03:49 PM

Alex feeling to uncomptable, and doesn't really want to review his past anymore, he'll just bring up a random topic.

"Well the past is the past, its over, and gone, then we build a new." Alex narrows his eyes, upset that Stella was bringing this up. "So whats for super, I haven't ate since breakfast."

A young woman enters the room, her hair brown, eyes green.

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 04:42 PM
((Believe it or not, on average, people married for the first time LATER in the 1920s than in the 1950s. The mean age (from a website I looked at) was about 21 years old for women; a few years older for men. Which is not to say that some women didn't marry at younger ages, but I think most upper-class women would probably be out of their teens... Though the life expectancy WAS less than it is today, even if you get married at 20 and live to 40 or 50, that's plenty of time to raise kids.))

Hugo looks a bit annoyed at the young woman. She's just in her teens, and he still thinks of her as a child. The fact that she has very short hair and acts rather like a tomboy doesn't help. Right now she's wearing a short one-piece dress, but doesn't seem to have much thought for modesty; she walks almost like a man.

"Oh!" the girl says. "I didn't know you had company, Hugo!" She immediately approaches Alex, smiling broadly. "Hi! I'm Michelle."

Aug 01, 2002 04:50 PM
((And check out the tables here:

Aren't they interesting? Sounds like the life expectancy in 1920 (once people got married) was at least 65. That's oversimplifying the data but I'm too lazy to elaborate (aside from the fact that infant mortality in the 1920s was higher than now so that's one of the reasons the average life expectancy was lower).))

Tourist Aug 01, 2002 05:31 PM

Alex stood up,not expecting anyone eles, especisly not a lil girl.

Stella signed and looked at Hugo.
"I didn't know she was here."

Alex stood up, trying to be proper, not that he was good at it or anything.

"I'm Alex, Alex Indigo, nice to meet you miss Michelle!" Alex smiled a warm smile.

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 01, 2002 05:42 PM
Michelle shakes his hand warmly, then looks around the room. "Y'all aren't even gonna offer me a drink?" She sits on the armrest of one of the large chairs, smirking at her brother.

Hugo shakes his head. "Don't talk like that. Or sit that way."

"Hmph," Michelle replies, sitting cross-legged, her dress tucked neatly in her lap. "But you guys didn't sound like you were having much fun; I thought maybe I could help you out a bit."

Alex Indigo:
Aug 01, 2002 07:23 PM

Alex thinks he going to enjoy her company, alot better than Stella and Hugo, all proper and manners, he just wanted to be hisself.

"So how are you going to help them have fun?" Alex almost laughs, and looks at them. then he whippers to Michelle. "I think when people grow up, they think they haffta give up on fun." He winks, realizeing he stills has his custume on.

Stella gives Michelle the woman look.(scary...I'm running..)
"Young ladies shouldn't talk like that, your infront of a guest..." She turns to Alex. "Knowing you Mr. you might just incourage her, so don't even think about it!"

Alex points to himself.
"Who me? Nah, fun just my middle name." He smirks looking at Michelle. "I'm always good....well to me I'm good." He leans back into the coach crossing his legs.

Stella just shakes her head moving closer to Alex.
"But poor you, we all know you will never grow up." she crosses her arms, and lean against Hugo.

Michelle McHenry::
Aug 01, 2002 09:22 PM

Michelle smiles. "Alex 'Fun' Indigo, huh? A lot better than Michelle Athena McHenry, anyway..." She grimaces. "Oh well. I figure I should have fun while I can. I don't know if grown-ups have to behave all the time, but presidents sure do."

Hugo puts his arm around Stella, but groans slightly at his sister's talk.

Alex Indigo:
Aug 02, 2002 08:22 AM

Alex looked at her.
"Well it was just an expression, I don't really have a middle name." Alex turns to look at the door, hearing a deep voice talking to one of the maids.

Stella hears it too, and hides her brandy, and straightens up.
"Michelle, you could of told us your father was her too." (Hugo's father thinks Stella's a flapper, and doesn't think ladies should drink or smoke.) Stella walked beside Hugo.

The door swings open with a tall well built man, and a maid behind him.
His faded green eyes scan the room, and stopped on Alex.
He walked up to Alex.
"Indeed, a spitting image of your father, when did you come to America, Alex?"

Alex stood up surprise.
"How do you know me?"

Alan Mchenry smirked.
"I grew up with your father, Alexandir Indigo II."

Michelle McHenry:
Aug 02, 2002 10:19 AM

Michelle grins at Stella. "What, and spoil the surprise?"

Hugo frowns. "Good day, Father. I take it you already know Alex, then. Why don't you join us?" He would really rather not talk with Alex OR his father, but of course can't say so.

Alex Indigo:
Aug 02, 2002 11:15 AM

Alan walked up to Hugo.
"Why thats why I'm here, I haven't seen you in a week, and wanted to talk about something." Alan looked at Hugo. "Well are you going to offer me or our guest a drink?"

Alex looked up from the coach, his look almost emotionless.

"Oh, no thank you I don't drink."

Alan turned to Alex(darn, alan alex, cant stay away from four letter names..>_<)
"Ha! I see, whats with that out fit, Oh your a priest now, now I see why you don't drink."

The maid walks in.
"Sir Hugo, your diner is ready."

Alex almost feel off the coach.
"No, I'm not a priest....I'm a ...well I...I have a job at a Freak Show on coney Island." Alex looked down.

"Then your a performer! That interesting, lets talk over diner, I'm starved." Looks at Michelle. "Go wash your hands."

Michelle McHenry:
Aug 02, 2002 11:39 AM

Michelle nods and runs off to do so. Hugo goes to wash up as well, grudgingly inviting Alex along if he'd like to get cleaned up. "We could try to find you a change of clothes, too, though I fear we might not have anything for someone as large as yourself."

Aug 02, 2002 01:13 PM

Alex stands up and walks with them.
"It would be nice to get out of these.."

Stella just stays with Hugo, she'll wash her hands in the other washroom.

"So Mr.Mchenry, you know Alex, by his father?"

"Yes, I saw Alex when he was just three, then I moved my family from England to here." He stopped and looked at Stella. "If I knew he surivived that house fire, I would of went over to get him."

Stella folded her arms.
"You know, he ran away after that, and raise himself." Stella turned to the fire. "I can't imagine not having a family at that age, but atleast he found his Aunt Leslie."

Alan shiver.
"Darn! That woman survived? I never liked her much." He walked to the dinning room, Stella followed

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 02, 2002 01:36 PM

Hugo goes back to his bedroom and pulls out a shirt and pants. "These are the largest I have, but I think you'll look like a child in them. But that shouldn't be any worse than the ridiculous thing you're wearing now, right? Besides, you wouldn't want to spill soup on your costume."

Alex Indigo:
Aug 02, 2002 01:49 PM

Alex takes them, wishing he could of just got his clother from the freak show, just too much in a hurry.

"Thank you Hugo, don't worry I won't spill anything, My father smacked eating proper into me when I was little."
Alex went into wash room to change.
Alex thinking to himself, man what a tiny man Hugo is...
The paints came above his ankles, showing his showing his full lenght boots, but no skin was showing.
His arms however, came to mid point on and was not able to button it.
"I wish I was short, I wish I was short..*sigh* I'm just a freak."
Alex walked out, knowing someone was going to laugh.

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 02, 2002 01:53 PM

Hugo doesn't laugh, but his smirk is just about as annoying. "Perhaps I was wrong; your costume looked a bit more respectable. I don't think there's anything that can be done for it, though; we don't have anything bigger. So it's that or your costume."

Aug 02, 2002 04:29 PM
Alex walks back in to the washroom, befoure saying a word, and comes out in his costume.
He hands Hugo his clothes.
"Thank you very much, but I think I will stick with my costume." Alex pauses. "Oh, umm Hugo, do You have a phone I can borrow, I need to call my aunt to let her know I wont be home tonight."

He walks towards Michelle then stops and looks at her.
"so hes big brother.." whispers in her ear. "I your way better looking then him." Alex smirks and looks back at Hugo.

Michelle McHenry:
Aug 02, 2002 04:53 PM
Michelle laughs. "That's not very nice! But then, you never struck me as very *nice,* Alex Indigo." She smirks.

Hugo just shakes his head, and goes towards the dining room without another word. Michelle grabs Alex's arm. "This way."

Alex Indigo:
Aug 02, 2002 06:46 PM

Alex looked at her, he smiled.
"Well I don't think am not nice, I'm just honest."
He brushed her hair back.
"Well we better hurry brfore they eat all our food."

Stella walked up to meet Hugo.
"what took you so long, I hope you were behaving yourselfes up there." Stella hugs Hugo.

Michelle McHenry:
Aug 03, 2002 10:05 AM

Michelle takes Alex to the dining room. It has a table that can seat eight. She sits down on one of the sides, patting the chair next to her, and smiling invitingly at Alex.

Hugo smirks. "He looked so ridiculous in my clothes, even I couldn't bear to let him come out wearing them. But no matter." He takes her hand and walks to the dining room as well, pulling back a chair for Stella, then sitting next to her.

Alex Indigo:
Aug 03, 2002 01:57 PM
Stella kisses him on the cheek.
"It must of been a funny sight to see, but I'm starved, lets eat."

Alex sat next to Michelle.
"So whats for luch?"

Alan sat across from Alex.
"Soup and sandwhiches."

Hugo McHenry:
Aug 03, 2002 02:02 PM
They have a relatively uneventful meal and return Alex to his home when they're done, Michelle and Alan promise to visit the Freak Show next week.
