YYarnKittymon: HR: ::is wearing a dark suit as they walk down the street at about 8 PM that night, looking a bit more anxious than he generally does before a job; he looks at his pretty young partner:: You have your part down, right?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's dawned a pair of dark suit pants as well and a bulky jacket for their mission. Her long red hair is tucked into a hat, she gives her partner an annoyed glance:: Yes, I've got it already. Would you calm down?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::in a low voice:: I am calm. There's gonna be at least two guards on the perimeter and one inside. Maybe we can get past them, maybe we'll need a distraction. ::smirks at Maeve:: Which you're quite good at.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles, looking quite proud of that:: Which I am also prepared for.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::slows his walk as they approach the building they're aiming to get into; it's a three-story mansion in the middle of town, and there's one security guard standing stiffly at the front door, and, as they watch, another patrolling around the building::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::whispers:: Well, go make yourself scarce because my distraction is going to have them running this direction and into that alley back there.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods, smiling weakly at Maeve:: Good luck.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smiles back then ducks behind a corner to quickly remove the over sized pants to reveal a knee length dark brown skirt. She quickly unzips her jacket and tucks the pants inside of it, stashing it in a corner. She straightens her white buttoned down shirt, and while the outfit looks simple enough it does highlight her slender figure. She takes a deep breath then races around the corner looking rather hysterical.::
YarnKittymon: : ::the patroling guard looks up at Maeve sharply, silently; the guard in front of the door stands his ground, looking at her with nothing but suspicion::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::sneaks off around the building towards the back entrance::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she makes a show of spotting them, a look of relief washing over her. She runs up to one of them and grabs onto his arm:: Please! I need your help! ::she cries, looking as sincere as she can, even managing a few tears:: No one else will!
YarnKittymon: : ::the patroling guard comes a few steps closer to Maeve, asking:: What's the matter?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::breathlessly:: My boyfriend... this man, he just came out of nowhere! They're back there a ways in the alley! ::crying:: I think he's going to kill him! ::she tugs on the mans arm some, her eyes looking up at him, pleading for help::
YarnKittymon: : ::the guard frowns, knowing full well the trouble he'll get into if he's caught away from his post, and not really liking his odds given the girl already has a boyfriend--still, he finds himself drawing his gun and following Maeve; after a moment:: Stay back here; I'll find him.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::gets the lock open and walks boldly inside, as though he belongs there::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grabs his arm, looking frightened:: Alone? Shouldn't you be taking back up? ::she looks over to the other guard pleadingly:: Please, dont go alone! The other guy might have already called his friends!
YarnKittymon: : ::the guard looks at Maeve steadily; he's at least twenty years older than her, and has a friendly face; quietly:: Then I guess I'll be killed. Stay back where it's safe. ::and he continues on::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, looking lost but also giving him a look that says "my hero".:: Please be careful. ::She turns around to take care of the other guard:: You wont go with him? If he doesn't cut them off before they make it to the ice cream place around the block I shudder to think what will happen if both groups meet up.
YarnKittymon: : ::the other guard glares at Maeve; coldly:: Andrew's a fool. I'm not throwing my life away.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sniffs:: Not even to save one kid whose just gotten caught up with the wrong people? He's tried so hard but... ::she starts crying:: Now your friend might be killed as well. And he was so brave...
YarnKittymon: : ::the guard looks at Maeve sternly:: Get out of here, kid. Go get the cops if you're worried.
Maeve Owens: ::on the second floor a third guard is sitting in the boss' stuffy leather chair with his feet propped up on the desk. He's reading a paper while he listens out for any commotion::
Maeve Owens: MV: But there wasn't any around! ::coldly:: Fine if you wont help then I have to go back! ::thinking she'll have no more luck with him she turns to run back to that darkened corner to join Harry inside::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::continues casing the place, waiting for Maeve--he's pretty sure what they're looking for is upstairs anyway::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she quickly puts her dark clothing back on and enters the house the same as Harry did::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::catches Maeve as she comes in, pulling her close; whispers:: I'm sure the other guard has a gun. I'll get his attention.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::whispers back:: And once you've gotten it?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::whispers:: Then you'll have a couple minutes to crack the safe. I'll get you as long as I can.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::whispers again:: Meet you on the outside then?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods:: You know the place. ::smiles at her, then heads upstairs, motioning for Maeve to hide--he then purposely knocks over a vase, which shatters loudly::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she ducks into a dark room then squeezes herself between the wall and the door::
Maeve Owens: ::stunned, the guard jerks upwards, his feet sliding from the desk and taking stack of papers with them. He launches himself from the chair which then rolls backwards into a bookcase, knocking several books from their places. He snatches his gun from its holder before slowly opening the door to the office. His gun comes out before he does, peeking around the corner to look for intruders::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::runs noisily up the next flight of stairs, hoping to be heard but not seen::
Maeve Owens: ::the guard jerks his head in that direction then after a few seconds he follows, his feet pounding heavy on the floor as well.:: Hey! Whose there?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she slips from her hiding place once the guard is gone then into the office. She quickly spots the safe and sets to her task of opening it::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::ducks into a bathroom, gently closing and locking the door, and then drawing his own pistol::
Maeve Owens: ::when the guard reaches the top of the stairs, he stops, then glances down both ways before choosing the opposite direction. He heads over to the first closed door. He opens it quickly then jumps backwards, expecting the intruder to come rushing out at him::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::puts his ear to the door, listening to make sure the guard's still occupied::
Maeve Owens: ::the guard flicks the lights on in the room and when nothing appears out of place he quickly closes it, paying no head to the noise it makes. He moves onto the next one down that hall and does the same thing::
YarnKittymon: : ::when the guard reaches the study, at first glance, it looks like there's no one there, but then he sees a pair of shoes under the floor-length curtains and makes out a person behind them::
Maeve Owens: ::the guard cocks his gun, and with his hand shaking just a bit, he points it towards the figure:: Alright, I found ya. Come out nice and slow and with your hands up!
YarnKittymon: HR: ::hears the guard and can hardly believe his luck--he silently opens the door and sneaks back downstairs as quietly as he can::
YarnKittymon: YarnKittymon rolled 2 6-sided dice: 4 2
Maeve Owens: MV: ::downstairs she has no problems getting the safe open. She pulls out the papers in there then unzips her jacket where she then tucks them in a place no one will be looking, just in case they are caught::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man comes out of his hiding place--it's the master of the house, white as a sheet, and still holding a book of Shakespeare he'd been reading. His face remains pale, but his expression shifts to anger as he sees who it is:: What is the *meaning* of this?
Maeve Owens: ::the guard immediately lowers his gun:: I'm sorry sir, its just that I heard a noise...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she makes it out a bit before Harry does and is waiting at the meeting place::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man narrows his eyes at his guard:: I told you to guard that safe with your life. ::walks out and steps behind the guard; witheringly:: I don't see it strapped to your back.
Maeve Owens: ::the guard quickly turns and heads back down the stairs, taking two at a time:: I'm sorry sir, it wont happen again. But I'm sure I heard someone on the stairs. Maybe it was you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's made it to the backdoor where she pauses to listen out for Harry, to make sure he isn't having problems::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::checks the room with the safe; Maeve's left the door open and he sees she's gone, and closed the safe to buy them a bit of time; he smiles to himself and puts his gun back in its holster, walking very quickly towards the next flight of stairs, and then the back door::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::since she doesn't hear anything she slips out the back door, but she pauses to make sure the other guard hasn't returned and if anyone is approaching the back entrance::
YarnKittymon: : ::a poorly-dressed man is walking past the back entrance in a determined manner, but no one else appears to be around::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she bites her lip, worried about Harry who should be coming out the door at any minute. She glances around, trying to determine her options of leading the man away from the back door if he should turn around and spot her::
YarnKittymon: : ::the other man is soon the least of her worries, as the former front-door guard turns the corner and his eyes light on Maeve who's standing right by the doorway:: Hey, you! What are you doing here?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her heart plummets to the floor as she ducks her head, pulling the ball cap down further to hide her face. She takes off at a fast sprint towards the back of the lot where theres a gap between the fence and the brick wall.::
YarnKittymon: : ::the guard instantly takes off after her:: Stop or I'll shoot! ::though she makes it into the gap without being fired upon::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sighs in relief once she's made it safely to the other side. She disappears into the trees, stopping every few seconds to listen for anyone following her::
YarnKittymon: : ::no one's able to track Maeve down, and when she gets to the meeting place Harry's there waiting for her, looking quite relieved to see her:: You had me worried there.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks a little pale from her close encounter but she shrugs, then offers him a smug smile:: Piece of cake.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Come on; we have to deliver 'em. I'd just as soon get 'em out of our hands.
Maeve Owens: MV: What is so important about this little envelope anyway?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shrugs:: It's not our business, but we'll get paid pretty good for it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::frowns:: You mean you dont even know what it is you're selling to these people? Who are they?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles weakly:: Not our business either.
Maeve Owens: MV: Well, then why dont you tell me exactly how it is that we got involved with this stuff that isn't our business since you dont know whats in this envelope?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head, frowning; softly:: Give me the papers; I'll take them myself.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::the side of her mouth lifts up in a mischevious grin; shaking her head:: Nope, answer the question.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::glares at Maeve:: You don't want to get into this any deeper!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::stubbornly, she shakes her head again:: Too late, I just cracked the safe and took the papers. Not to mention almost getting caught on the way out. And I created the diversion, so they've seen my face.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns; quietly, not looking at Maeve:: It was a gangster.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::shocked:: Are you out of your mind? How?
YarnKittymon: HR: Not sure how he knew me, but he did. Said if I got him these documents I'd be rewarded well, and if not...::shrugs, smiling weakly:: So here we are.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she blinks, then looks away:: Sounds like its a good thing for you we made it out of there.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::nods:: So I need you to stay back while I make the delivery.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she hesitates:: what if they decide not to pay you and go with thier "if not" plan? You might need... help.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: It's too risky for you, Maeve.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she ducks her head again, looking the other way to hide her worried expression; quietly:: You can't leave me behind, you know once I've made my mind up I'll just follow you anyway.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks at Maeve for several seconds, then turns away; softly:: Stay out of sight, okay? If something happens, you'll do as much good taking them by surprise.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, a little relieved at that.:: Fine.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::suddenly stops walking, glancing behind him; he instinctively takes Maeve's arm to stop her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she tenses; quietly:: What?
YarnKittymon: : ::they both hear the familiar sound of a gun being cocked; Harry turns around, going pale, and looking for a way to run::
YarnKittymon: : ::the poorly-dressed man Maeve saw earlier is there, pointing a gun at her, and motioning; quietly:: Hand them over.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she pales too but stiffens, trying not to let him know how much the sight of the gun affects her; quietly:: Hand what over?
YarnKittymon: : ::the man glares at Maeve:: What you stole. I know you have a nice little figure under that coat, girl, but it ain't showin'.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she pales a bit more then crosses her arms in front of her trying to appear more tougher as well as protect herself. She backs up a bit as she chances a furtive glance about her:: And its not going to either. Comments like tha
Maeve Owens: t makes your life span grow shorter pal.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man levels his gun at Maeve's face:: The blood'll wash right off those papers, though I'd rather not take the trouble. Your choice.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::swallows hard; softly:: Do it, Maeve...
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sighs, then turns slightly as she unzips the coat so she can retrieve the papers without giving him a view of her "nice little figure"::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man's hand shakes a little as he tenses, watching Maeve carefully, afraid she'll pull out a weapon of her own::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she produces the papers, holding them up for him to see. Her hands shake and she bites her lip, hating the fact that it shows but guns still affect her strongly and she knows she's sure to have nightmares tonight.::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man snatches the papers with one hand, keeping the other trained on Maeve, though he jerks it back to point at Harry as the latter reaches for his own gun; coldly:: Don't even think about it. ::he walks backwards into an alley, his gun trained on them all the while::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stands there silently as she watches until he's gone::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::glances at Maeve once the man's gone; softly:: You all right?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, preferring to not speak until she's gotten her breathing under control. She wraps her arms around herself, trying to hide the fact that she's trembling::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::draws his gun, nodding to Maeve; softly:: Good. You get home, okay? ::starts walking the way the man went::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she doesn't move from the spot she's standing until Harry's about five strides ahead of her. Looking rather determined now; sharply:: I'm going with you.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::glares at Maeve:: It's just like if a job goes bad, Maeve. There's no sense in the both of us going under. I don't have anything to lose; I'm already dead as soon as the gang gets ahold of me.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::rather hurt:: Its not like I have anyone or anything waiting for me either Harry. And I'm not leaving.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::his expression softens just slightly; quietly:: Then you know the drill. Out of sight.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods:: Fine.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::walks down the alley after the man; the alley opens into a rather busy street, and as he walks on the sidewalk, a Packard pulls up beside him and stops; Harry turns pale to see who's inside::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::when she sees the car pull up, she tries to slip up against the slight curve of the building but she's pretty sure they've already spotted her, especially since theres no where to really go::
YarnKittymon: : ::one of the men grabs Harry before the latter can even reach for his gun, and pulls him into the car::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man motions to his partner to keep ahold of Harry, and he follows Harry's desperate gaze, his eyes lighting up as he spies a woman; he gets out of the car wordlessly to get her::
Maeve Owens: ::the other man fixes Harry with a hard look while he makes a show of resting his hand on his gun::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::has his eyes out for an opening, but doesn't see one yet::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stiffens when she realizes she has indeed been spotted which she then attempts to casually turn and walk away::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man follows Maeve, softly saying:: Come on, little girl, unless you want us to hurt that fella of yours.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stops, then slowly turns around but she doesn't make a move towards him, just stares::
Maeve Owens: ::the other man keeps a close eye on Harry, confident his partner is capable of handling a small girl::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man smiles:: Come on; we just want to take you for a little ride.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: My mother said never to accept rides from strangers.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man looks closely at Maeve, not sure whether or not she's worth the trouble...but her bulky jacket convinces him she might have what he's looking for; he moves his hand towards his breast pocket, as if to pull a gun:: One word and he's dead, you know that.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, although she doesn't look like she's any closer to being ready to get in the car::
YarnKittymon: : ::softly:: Suit yourself. ::yells back:: Legs!
Maeve Owens: ::the man in the car grins, then swiftly removes his gun, making a motion to pistol wip Harry across the face::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::cries out slightly, bleeding from his mouth, though he manages to say:: Run, Maeve!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she pales again at Harry's shout; shouts quickly:: No! ::softly:: I'll go... ::takes a tentive step towards the car, her eyes on the guy::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man smiles coldly, glad something's finally going his way; he walks towards the car, sideways, watching Maeve::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stops at the open door and peeks inside to look at Harry, still hesitant to get in, especially if theres still a way out::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: She doesn't have anything.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man waits for Maeve to get in, frowning::
Maeve Owens: : That may be so but she's involved with you so she's coming along. ::he gives Maeve a cold look and motions with the gun for her to hurry it up. She slides in close to Harry without another word::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head when Maeve gets in, though he doesn't say anything::
YarnKittymon: ::the other man gets in after Maeve, and taps the roof of his car; the driver puts it back into gear and starts driving::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::whispers defensively:: Well, what was I suppose to do? Let them kill you?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::just shakes his head again::
YarnKittymon: : ::the gangster smirks:: Now that we're all acquainted, would you hand them over?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters half heartedly:: Hand what over?
YarnKittymon: Didn't tell the girl, Harry?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: I told you, she's not involved. And I have the papers; they're back at the apartment. You'll have to drop me off there.
Maeve Owens: : ::he jams the gun into Harry's ribs; smirking:: What would you say if I called your bluff?
YarnKittymon:HR: I'd say if you kill me there's no chance you'll see those papers
Maeve Owens: : Then tell us where they are so we can get on to more pleasurable things.

((take 2))
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly, not looking up:: I told you; my apartment. You'll need to take me there to get them.
Maeve Owens: :he smirks, looking over at his companion: I say we go ahead and bring them in.
YarnKittymon: : ::the other gangster nods:: Once we have your keys and a five-dollar-bill, we'll be able to get past your doorman, Harry, if you even have one. ::laughs suddenly::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she forces herself to remain still and since she doesn't have any clever retorts she remains silent as well::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::waits until one of the men is eyeing Maeve, and then reaches towards the holster under his jacket::
Maeve Owens: ::he feels Harry's movements and looks down to see what he's up to. Once he catches sight of the holster he immediately makes a grab for it:: Hey!
YarnKittymon: HR: ::tries to kick the man, pulling back and trying to get ahold of his own gun::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes widen in surprise and she moves to see better but from her position theres really nothing she can do::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man holding Maeve grabs her tighter, so it probably hurts, and jams his gun against her neck; quietly:: Stop it, Harry.
Maeve Owens: ::he grunts when Harry kicks him, then with his free arm he attempts to control Harry's movements to where he can make a better play for the gun::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is distracted by the man holding Maeve--he doesn't have time to decide whether to risk Maeve's life by fighting, because before he knows it, the other gangster has stolen the gun out of his holster::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's sitting as stiff as a board now and looking even more surprised and a bit frightened at the gun being against her neck::
Maeve Owens: ::he pockets the gun then starts to check Harry for other concealed weapons:: You have anymore surprises for us? ::he casts a side glance at Maeve:: or you girl over there? Whats under the jacket anyway?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::coldly:: Nothing you'd want. ::the man probably finds Harry's pocketknife, but no other weapons::
Maeve Owens: ::he takes the pocket knife as well then glances over to his buddy:: You think she's got the papers?
YarnKittymon: : ::the gangster smiles a little lewdly:: Keep your gun on Harry, and I'll check her.
Maeve Owens: ::he does so with a slightly envious smirk::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: I don't have it. ::then tries to jerk away from him::
YarnKittymon: HR: I told you, they're in the apartment. She doesn't have them.
YarnKittymon: : ::the man grins:: Doesn't hurt to check, though, does it? ::he keeps his hands on top of her jacket, feeling for anything at all out of place, even a stiffness that shouldn't be in her flesh::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she's pulled about as far away as she can get in order to protect herself since there isn't anything in the jacket::
YarnKittymon: : ::the car's not that big, and the man presses himself near to Maeve, still feeling her::
YarnKittymon: HR: *Please* stop it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::starts becoming a little more aggressive as she attempts to push him away from her, probably squishing Harry into the other guy who is chuckling softly now::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man finally pulls back, though not before he's touched much of Maeve's body over her clothes; smiles:: That'll do for now. I guess we'll see for sure once we're someplace safer.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks like she might deck him but all the guns make her a little too nervous to go through with it so instead she wraps her arms tightly around herself and leans even more against Harry, shuddering slightly::
Maeve Owens: ::he laughs a little a more:: I get round two.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::doesn't dare even move to try to comfort Maeve; quietly:: It's all right, Maeve. You're tougher than they know.
YarnKittymon: : ::the other gangster laughs:: A challenge, eh?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she straightens up a bit but doesn't moves back towards the man. Keeping her arms clasped tightly around herself, she narrows her eyes at the man and contemplates once more how effectivly she could throw a punch in this space:
YarnKittymon: : ::they're cramped enough, a punch probably wouldn't do much good--and from the look in the gangster's eyes, she'd likely be shot for her trouble if she tried it::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::settles for waiting for the oportune moment outside of the vehicle and turns away from him::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::keeps his eyes open, though he's wearing a bit of a defeated expression, which doesn't go away even when the car finally stops and the engine shuts off--they're in a large, dark space, judging by how it looks through the windows; maybe a garage or a warehouse::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she doesn't move, suddenly feeling much safer in the car::
Maeve Owens: ::he opens the door and climbs out:: Okay Harry, get out nice and slow like.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly, as though it makes him feel better:: I told you you should've stayed back, Maeve. ::slinks out of the car, keeping his hands where the gangsters can see them::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: And you know I never listen. ::she slides further away from the other man and towards Harry's side::
YarnKittymon: : ::the other man gets out of the car, following Maeve:: Hand over the keys, Harry.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::reaches into his pocket and hands them over without a word::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::stands there silently::
Maeve Owens: ::he shuts the car the door, keeping the gun trained on Harry::
YarnKittymon: : ::the man takes the keys, looking around:: Joe, Patch, get out here. ::two rough men, one with an eyepatch, step out from the shadows--the one who must be Joe is wearing brass knuckles:: I'll go see if you're lying or not. I'm sure these fellas will keep you entertained in the meantime.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::his expression hardly changes, though Maeve can tell the little bit of hope he'd harbored is gone now::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she uncrosses her arms, preparing to fight if necessary cause she is definitely feeling intimidated by these guys::
YarnKittymon: : ::the first man looks back at his original partner:: Keep your gun on the girl; she might fight for that fella of hers.
Maeve Owens: ::gives Joe a slight nod and aims his gun at Maeve::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe comes forward and grabs Harry's arm with one hand, punching him in the stomach with the other; he almost growls:: Where *are* they?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she flinches, almost moving towards Harry but stops at Legs soft warning and his raised gun::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::coughs:: I told you...the apartment...
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe grins, looking back at Patches for back-up:: I think you're lying. I think you're keeping them for yourself, or maybe you sold them to our rivals.
Maeve Owens: ::Patches walks up, pulls his fist back, and makes a swing for Harry's jaw::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::tries to dodge, but Joe holds him strongly, and he takes the hit hard, unable to help yelling out::
YarnKittymon: : ::the other gangster slips off to the other side of the huge room, intending to make his way to Harry's apartment::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she moves to intervene then, stepping behind Harry and the two men which has Legs moving around to follow her:: He's telling you the truth and theres no need to do this until your pal gets back!
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe looks back at Patch, nodding:: Yeah, the girl's right. I guess we got time. ::grins at Maeve:: Unless you'd like to talk instead.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sarcastically:: If you need someone to talk that badly I guess I could come up with 50 more ways to tell you that its back at the apartment
YarnKittymon: : He might phone to ask--*where* in the apartment?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she smirks but remains silent::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe waits in silence for quite a while until finally a phone rings, echoing through the whole concrete room; he goes over to answer it, eyeing Maeve and Harry as he does so::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe nods, saying a few words, then hangs up the phone, walking back to the hostages:: He can't find them. ::smirks:: So either you're lying, or you hid them. Either way we're gonna make you talk. ::he holds Harry strongly, waiting for Patch to resume his work::
Maeve Owens: ::he aims another punch at Harry's stomach::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is winded by the hit, but doesn't say a word::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sharply:: Killing him isn't going to get you the papers!
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe laughs:: Couldn't hurt, little lady.
Maeve Owens: ::Legs comments rather coldly:: Hush up kid. ::he levels the gun a little more at her::
Maeve Owens: ::Patches bends down a bit to look Harry in the eyes:: You want some more or are you going to talk?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly, and hoarsely:: Let the girl go, and I'll tell you everything.
Maeve Owens: : Try again. ::Patches takes another swing at Harry's head::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::yells again:: Then I have nothing to say!
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she suddenly grabs onto Patches arm to keep him from swinging again; shouting:: We don't have it! It was stolen just before you got to us. You'll have to go beat the other guy up for answers!
Maeve Owens: ::Legs pulls back on the trigger but he stops, afraid he might hit one of the other ones if he fires:: Oh bloody hell, lets just bound and gag her! Either that or switch tactics cause the guy must be looking for a death wish.
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe looks back at Maeve, lets go of Harry, and suddenly hits Maeve in the face, hard:: Change your story yet?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she yelps, her hands going to cover her face as she gazes back at him in stunned silence. Then sharply:: Does it matter? Its the truth and you're going to kill us anyway. ::she'd fight but she knows they're out numbered::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe looks at Maeve in disgust, and goes back to Harry, holding him:: If she's right we've still got nothing to lose by killing them.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::quickly:: If you gave us a chance we could find him.
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe frowns, considering:: Do you really think you could, little lady? All by yourself? Run off and bring the cops, more like it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: With Harry of course cause who could trust that he'd still be alive when I got back.
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe shakes his head:: We're not as stupid as that, girl. And if we keep you here, we can have a bit of fun, at least--something to compensate us for those lost papers.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she looks around her for an opening but with Legs still pointing a gun at her, she doesn't have many options; mutters:: Well, if you were smart enough then you'd at least be able to get your own papers. Haven't you ever heard that the best way to get something done is to do it yourself?
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe laughs:: Your friend Harry owed us a favor, isn't that right? We figured we could trust him...and I guess we were wrong.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is looking at the ground in silence::
Maeve Owens: ::Patches grins:: Then I guess its back to plan A. ::he starts to hit Harry again::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::tries not to yell, though he can't help but cry out as some of the blows land, turning pretty much all of his face a bright violet color::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::gives up trying to talk their way out of it and starts to fight back, aiming for a low kick at Patches legs::
Maeve Owens: :Legs' gun wavers between the two and he hesitates to pull the trigger again:: You guys are going to have to hold off on Harry till we find a better way to contain her or you wont be having any fun with her later. ::smirking:: Or I
Maeve Owens: could always shoot and hope I dont miss.
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe rolls his eyes:: Fine. I'll subdue her; just give me a second. ::walks off to get some rope::
Maeve Owens: ::Patches lets go of Harry to hold onto Maeve who then brings her knee up into one key area causing him to double over in pain::
Maeve Owens: ::Since Patches is out of the way and Joe gone, Legs aims a shot to at least disable Maeve::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::though one of his eyes is just about swollen shut, he sees well enough to run towards Legs::
Maeve Owens: Maeve Owens rolled 2 6-sided dice: 4 6
YarnKittymon: HR: ::reaches Legs and throws a punch at him, throwing the gangster's shot off--instead of hitting Maeve, the bullet flies right towards Patch::
Maeve Owens: ::it hits Patches doubled over frame, right in the side, and sends him sprawling out onto the ground, curled up in too much pain to do anything else but groan.::
Maeve Owens: ::Legs comes back to pistol whip Harry::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::without pausing, ducks and aims to punch Legs in the stomach::
Maeve Owens: ::he wasn't expecting it and he doubles over::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::tries to wrestle the gun from Legs's hands now::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe had heard the commotion and he tries to sneak up behind Maeve to hit her and possibly knock her out::
Maeve Owens: Maeve Owens rolled 2 6-sided dice: 4 2
Maeve Owens: ::Legs struggles to keep a grip on the gun::
Maeve Owens: Maeve Owens rolled 2 6-sided dice: 4 6
YarnKittymon: HR: ::keeps fighting with Legs, though he has the disadvantage of being a bit dazed and his limited vision::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she hears his approach and turns just in time to dodge his fist which she then attempts to bring her own fist up towards his jaw::
YarnKittymon: YarnKittymon rolled 2 6-sided dice: 4 6
YarnKittymon: : ::Maeve misses, and Joe swings at Maeve's cheek, still wearing the brass knuckles::
Maeve Owens: Maeve Owens rolled 2 6-sided dice: 5 4
Maeve Owens: ::Legs gets the gun away from Harry and straightens up, aiming it right for his head:: Any finals words?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::as she ducks to avoid the blow she brings her foot down onto his::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe yells, swinging his fists wildly at Maeve::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks up at Legs, coldly, offering Legs several curse words about his parents::
Maeve Owens: ::Legs just grins, then lowers the gun towards Harry's lower leg and fires::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::gets knocked to the ground by the wildly swinging fists and she lays there stunned. When she hears the gun shot she startles and turns to look at Harry::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::screams as the bullet tears into his leg with the same feeling he'd get from a hot poker::
Maeve Owens: MV: Harry! ::forgets all about Joe and attempts to get up and head for Harry::
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe starts to head after Maeve, but when he hears Patch murmuring his name, he pauses:: Legs, kill 'em both. ::kneels next to Patch, trying to stop his bleeding::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::his screams fade into whimpers; though the pain's still unbearable, he manages to murmur:: Get out of here.
Maeve Owens: ::Since Harry at least cant move, he swings his gun in Maeve's directon, which causes her to stop moving completely, and he fires::
YarnKittymon: YarnKittymon rolled 2 6-sided dice: 1 2
YarnKittymon: : ::Joe tries to help Patch to his feet, being unable to stop the bleeding:: Come on; we'll get you to the hospital.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::the bullet grazes her side and she yells out, gritting her teeth to muffle the cry a bit::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stumbles on some loose stones and falls, crying out in pain when it pulls on the wound::
YarnKittymon: : ::suddenly, a door on the far side of the building opens, letting brilliant white light in--two men in suits and fedoras block the doorway, and then there's nothing but the loud noise of tommy gun fire echoing terribly through the concrete building, mowing down all three of the standing gangsters, but leaving Maeve and Harry, who are huddled on the ground, unharmed. The attackers leave as suddenly as they came, with no explanation::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is breathing hard, and he manages to sit up; quietly:: How bad are you, Maeve?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she slowly gets to her feet and makes her way over to him. She looks a lot better than he does obviously and is probably more traumatized from all the guns and shooting:: I'm fine. You going to live?
YarnKittymon: HR: If I don't bleed to death first. Gimme the belt off your jacket, will you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::with shaky hands she takes the belt off of her and hands it to him. She then unzips the jackets as well, and carefully slips it off::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::yells as he ties the belt around his leg, above the wound; quietly:: Can you stand? Help me up; we have to get out of here.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::uncertainly:: Do you need something around the wound?
YarnKittymon: HR: I've got this tourniquet. Come on; we just have to get out of this building. ::looks at Maeve, reaching for her hand::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grasps it and attempts to lift him up while biting back a groan::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::yells out, but quickly stifles it, managing to stand:: Come on. ::walks towards the exit, crying out at every step::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::each step is pulling at her would, and while her eyes water from the pain, she hides it as best as she can. She concentrates more on getting Harry out of there::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::manages to get out the door with Maeve; they hear a siren, and almost instantly, an ambulance has arrived; the paramedic comes out, exclaiming:: What happened?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she doesn't answer, just waits with a rather worried expression for them to hurry up and see to Harry::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: We wouldn't pay protection money. We're shot; for God's sake, help us!
YarnKittymon: : ::the paramedic nods, loading the both of them into the back of the car, then seeing to Harry's wound first::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sitting in the ambulance she fights to keep the tears back and the raw fear from her eyes as she watches Harry::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::looks at Maeve steadily; quietly:: You OK?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, even though she looks far from it emotionally and she's shivering a bit; worriedly:: You?
YarnKittymon: HR: I'll be fine now; don't you worry about me. ::though his whole face is swollen and purple, and his leg is still bleeding, the bullet lodged inside::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she just nods again, not seeming to be very convinced. She bites down on her lip and glances away::
YarnKittymon: : ::Harry stays conscious the whole trip, but he and Maeve are separated once they get to the hospital, though when they've been patched up, they end up on opposite sides of the poor ward, where people sicker than them are left to die or recover on their own, more or less::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::is quite afraid she's going to catch a bit of everything these people are suffering from, which combined with the nightmares that have returned thanks to all the shooting, she gets practically no sleep at all::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::fares much better than Maeve, and after three days he's recovered enough to walk with a crutch; as soon as they let him up he visits Maeve to try to cheer her up::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::is sitting in bed coughing and sneezing and not looking at all happy::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is a bit worried to see Maeve sick, but he hides it, smiling at her:: Hospitals aren't much fun, are they?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she coughs again then shakes her head:: No. I want to go home.
YarnKittymon: HR: I want you to go home; even the poor ward's a little steep for my pocketbook. I'll see what I can do, OK?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods; quietly:: Thanks. Its good to see you up and about though. ::she smiles weakly::
YarnKittymon: HR: Have you taken a walk around yet? It might be just as well if you don't bother; this is an awful depressing place.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grimaces:: Thanks for the warning. Sitting right here is depressing enough.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles:: I'll see if I can buy you a book, at least, if you wind up stuck here any longer.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::does all he can to try to get Maeve released, but the authorities insist she's a threat to the public health and won't release her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mutters:: I don't care what they say. I'm *not* staying any longer. ::and with that she attempts to lift her weakened body out of the bed. She does it, although rather slowly::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::wasn't pleased to tell her the bad news, but he figures this place is too dirty to cost as much as he's paying, so he helps her walk as well as he can once she's out of bed, though he's in no better shape than her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she has to stop to cough a few times but she keeps moving, and after a while she shrugs off Harry before he makes them both fall::
YarnKittymon: : ::the poor ward is gravely understaffed, so no one even tries to stop Maeve and Harry from leaving until they get to the main lobby, and then, they're only stopped for the bill, which Harry pays easily::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sneezes a few times and then turns away slightly to try and muffle her coughs::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Word is the whole gang's wiped out. We should be safe at the apartment, though I hate to think what he might have stolen.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she at least doesn't look too worried about anything he may have stolen since she had nothing of any personal value to begin with::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: Come on; I'll get a cab. ::he hails a taxi to take them back::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::tiredly follows him out::
YarnKittymon: : ::they're soon back home, and it looks like a tornado went through the place, although nothing's broken, nor does anything appear to be missing--as soon as he's determined that, Harry forces Maeve off to bed::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::whines:: but thats all I've been doing for days... sitting in a bed! ::she starts coughing again::
YarnKittymon: HR: You're sick, and I can't afford to see you killed. You don't have a choice in the matter. ::and he works to literally force her to bed::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she glares up at him but is too tired to really fight and he doesn't have that much trouble forcing her to lay down:: You're not going to attempt to clean all this up by yourself with that leg of yours are you?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles:: I'm not doing woman's work. Just gonna move things to make a couple walkways so I don't fall flat on my face walking around...the rest I'll leave for when you're better.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she raises an eyebrow at him:: Woman's work? Ha! We'll just see about that. ::with a slight smirk on her face she closes her eyes::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::his smile fades as Maeve closes her eyes, and he wonders if she's sicker than she seems--but he's tired from the trip too, and before he can even start cleaning, he's fallen asleep too::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she wakes screaming, but its not nearly as loud as it would have been but her voice is rather raspy from all the coughing. And she does seem to be a bit worse::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::was sleeping restlessly in his bed, but when he hears Maeve yell he instantly sits up:: Maeve! Are you awake?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she coughs some more, nodding her head:: Sorry. Just go back to sleep. ::she's laying down but her eyes are widen open.::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::keeps watching Maeve:: Are you feeling worse? I'll go down to the drugstore in the morning.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shakes her head; mutters:: I'm fine. ::she sniffs a little, trying to get some oxygen to her flu clogged airways::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::frowns, but after a moment he lays down again, trying to sleep, though Maeve's sniffs likely keep him awake::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she tries to be as quiet as she can but with all the coughing and the frequent bathroom trips theres only so much quietness to be done::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::finally drifts to sleep near dawn, though he wakes up before 9, gets dressed, and goes to the drugstore after all::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::mumbling:: I am never going back to a hospital again. ::coughs:: This is worse than dying. ::coughs again:: Instead of quick its just drawn out and forever..
YarnKittymon: HR: ::sits on the bed next to Maeve:: Come on, Maeve. This stuff will help you sleep and make you feel better.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she opens one eye to glare at Harry:: Who says? Because if its those evil people from that evil place I'm not taking it. Its just another plan they'v devised to torture me. ::coughs again::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head:: My mom gave this stuff to me when I was little. It works; trust me.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::sighing, she lifts herself up into a sitting position to take the medicine from him;: Okay.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::pours some into a spoon and helps Maeve to take it:: You want me to bring the radio in for you?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she takes it, making a face at the taste then nods her head:: Yeah. ::she smiles weakly at him:: Thanks...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles at Maeve:: I'm gonna take it easy for a bit myself. ::unplugs the radio from the main room and sets it in the bedroom, switching it on:: I'll be in later, OK?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::goes out of the bedroom, gently shutting the door behind him::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she steadily gets worse, with no appetite and a high fever which has her hallucinating about being locked away on the ship again which has required the light to stay on at night and has called poor Harry "dad" several times::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::is starting to worry by now; he knows there's no sense in taking her to the hospital, but he's real tempted to bring in a doctor--if her fever doesn't break by the morning, he probably will call for one--he hasn't gotten much sleep himself, and it's starting to wear on him::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::in her more lucid moments she's threatened him bodily harm if he brings anyone in::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::isn't worried about bodily harm to himself, but is worried about what she might do to the doctor...either way, he makes her stay in bed and tries to talk soothingly to her, even playing along when Maeve calls him "dad"::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::late that afternoon her fever breaks::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::doesn't notice at first when the fever breaks, though when he feels her forehead, he's relieved to find it's cooler--still, he doesn't move to wake her::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she stirs when he touches her, her forhead wrinkling in confusion, then a second later she's opening her eyes; weakly:: Hey...
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles at Maeve; softly:: Are you feeling any better?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods slowly:: How long have I been asleep? ::attempts to sit up but she's rather weak and doesn't quite make it::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: A few days, is all. ::though she can probably see how tired Harry looks::
Maeve Owens: MV: ::coming a little more awake:: A few days?
YarnKittymon: HR: Well, you were mostly asleep. Glad you don't remember any of it; I think you had some bad dreams.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she winces then after a brief pause she comments quietly:: Did I keep you up? Because you like hell.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smirks:: Nah, but I did have a girl over here a couple nights...didn't get much sleep, if you know what I mean.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she rolls her eyes, feighning annoyance to cover the pain which she does manage to hide; softly:: Am I damaging your social life Harry? ::she coughs but it doesn't sound nearly as bad as it did::
YarnKittymon: HR: Nope; you were out like a light. No worries there. ::winks:: She's in the bathroom now, if you want to meet her.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::her eyes go wide:: Are you kidding me? ::she frowns;: You said I had dreams and... ::she looks almost horrified::
YarnKittymon: HR: Calm down, Maeve. There's no girl here; hasn't been since you moved in. Not that I'd tell you outright if there had been.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she calms down but she's glaring at him:: Ha ha. ::she hesitates, rather uncertain about whether or not she wants to know:: What did I say in my sleep?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Nothing no scared girl wouldn't say in a nightmare. Don't worry about it.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she grimaces, glancing away from him. After a moment; softly:: Do you think theres a way to seek revenge on who stole those papers?
YarnKittymon: HR: If I see him I'm gonna shoot him no matter how many cops are around. ::suddenly laughs, though he cringes as he moves the wrong muscle:: You really believed I had a girl up here? Looking at my face now? It's still puffed up like a pillow.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she makes a face at him then touches her own cheek, wondering if she still has any bruises left. Then she remembers her knicked side and sighs. Knowing it must have left a scar:: Well, knowing you, you could have played on her sympathies with some kind of wild story for the way you look the way you do and gotten most anything from her.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::smiles:: Thanks; you sure know how to cheer a fella up. ::more soberly:: Where could we even find him?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: I don't know. How dangerous would it be to put the word out on the streets? See if anyone knows about the papers?
YarnKittymon: HR: I'm pretty sure the gangsters are gone...but I don't know. I'd rather just put the word out to look for *him*.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::frowns:: Do we know his name?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head:: Even if he'd told us, it probably would've been a lie. I guess all we can do is look out for him.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she sighs then coughs a bit more::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::softly:: Don't worry. I'll go look around for him. RIght now if you like.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: You cant even sit without hurting your leg. What good would it do if you ran into him?
YarnKittymon: HR: My trigger finger still works, you know.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shakes her head:: You're just borrowing more trouble if you kill him.
YarnKittymon: HR: Oh? Then what would you do?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: Set him up like he set us up? I don't know.
YarnKittymon: HR: ::shakes his head:: I just want him dead, Maeve, or at least hurt. That's all.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::smirks:: And if you kill him you might end up in a real fix and maybe even wishing you had died. I'm just saying you might want to think about a course of action before you get all crazy on revenge. Its not worth it if its gon
Maeve Owens: na come back on you ten times worse.
YarnKittymon: HR: Well, how would we set him up?
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she shrugs:: You'd have to either find out what he's into now or we could plant something on him. ::she yawns:: We have time to think up a good plan right?
YarnKittymon: HR: ::quietly:: Yeah. Go on back to sleep. Maybe it'll come to you in a dream.
Maeve Owens: MV: ::she nods, thinking it woud be better than the other dreams she was probably having. She yawns again and its not long before she drifts off to sleep::
YarnKittymon: HR: ::watches Maeve for a couple minutes, but soon his exhaustion wins out; he takes his shoes off and falls asleep in his own bed::
